Hey Paul & Crew.. Thanks heaps for all the tips and tricks for Foil Drive surfing - very cool..👍 I'm just exploring my options, and haven't really had the opportunity to discuss Foil Drive with anyone in my local area - the far south coast of NSW - I've only ever seen one guy using them, and he's having a bunch of fun! Anyway, it was awesome information from you guys 🙏 and with my birthday coming up very soon I might finally commit to the next stage of my foiling journey! Cheers.. Billy 🙂
Hey Billy! Glad you're having fun and happy birthday :D The NSW Foil Club is really welcoming, not so close by but a great crew if you're looking for some foil love! - Caitlyn
Quick tip. When walking out with your board. Grab the tail by the handle and lift when the wave comes at you and drive the nose down when the wave come at you. It drives the board under so it does not pop up and accidentally hit you in the face. When the board pops up is when it’s most dangerous.
Great sequence and commenting - as always Paul moving ahead at lightspeed with Ben & yourself gift to the water warriors of the planet - BUZZ (aka Jack SURFOILZ)
I was hoping to see more prone takeoff techniques and more info on how best to position the mast/box on the board so your feet don’t need to shift motor on/off. The J-turn was awesome…will have to try that. Great video! 🤙🏽
Great tutorial Paul! I've also just experienced in the last months in Morocco how great the J-turn works. May I add, that it is amazing also in bigger waves that would normally scare you. It kind of gets you going on waves in which you'd probably need towing in. I am using the J-turn now at Lake Garda on short wind chop to learn how to Downwind. Works great, since going straight you'd hit the chop in front of you and fall sooo many times😅..like I did. I like my 90cm mast very much in waves. Cheers Stefan
Glad you've got enough information to choose between the two! They both have their place depending on where and how you ride, we find foil drive great as you;re contained to one craft rather than 2
Just updated the specs in the description! Paul: 96kg Foil Drive: Assist MAX Battery: Power Battery Board: Jimmy Lewis Prototype Foil Drive Superfly 4'11x19.5 44L Foils: Code 850S Mast: NoLimitz 85cm Integrated Mast Motor Height: 20cm Propellers: Three Blade Propellers Power Settings: Maximum Power - 17% Boost for 10 seconds Total Time in Water (Note filming is not very efficient): 50 Minutes (20% battery leftover)
Thanks Paul, such a comprehensive clip. A couple of questions. 1. what did moving the box forward give you? The other thing what's the width of the JL 4'11" 44L
Typically, setting the box to the back is better. Moving it forward can generate more lift due to it's position but it dies require more technique and weight to keep the nose of the board down. Masterclass in this coming soon!
50 Minutes total time in the water with 17% battery leftover. worth noting filming is very inefficient, you spend a lot of time circling back and zooming back out to the break to get as much footage as possible :)

Depends a little on where in the world you are as boards in particular can vary in pricing due to shipping of such a large, delicate item. This particular setup of Pauls is a Foil Drive Assist MAX w/ Power Battery: foildrive.com.au/collections/foil-drive-assist-max-1/products/foil-drive-assist-max Foil Drive x NoLimitz Integrated Mast: foildrive.com.au/collections/mast-integrations/products/foil-drive-x-no-limitz-v2-integrated-mast Jimmy Lewis Superfly FD jimmylewis.com/product/superfly-fd/
We offer a premium, performance based product with top service and adaptability and the price reflects that. If we made it any cheaper we'd have to sacrifice part of our offering. If you can get your hands on a demo from a local dealer we'd recommend giving it a go :) We know our word is bias but plenty of reviews out there if you need your arm twisted!
How are you all, I sincerely wish I was as happy as you, but unfortunately that is not the reality, I spent a lot of money to buy my latest generation Foil drive, and so far I have only had problems, I am very disappointed with this equipment.
These Masterclass are great for showing me how to get the most out of my FoilDrive & my board/foil setups.

Awesome Stefan! It definitely transitions into a few different use cases, thanks for sharing your insight too!
Wow! I just retired; this might be something to sink my teeth into. Thanks
This was so good, thanks. I've been really torn between the tow boogie and the foil drive. Definitely looking like fd is the one...
Glad you've got enough information to choose between the two! They both have their place depending on where and how you ride, we find foil drive great as you;re contained to one craft rather than 2
For a newby at FD that was helpful and relaxing too!
I got a chuckle y your dismounts which are similar to mine 🙃 safe n smart 👍🏽
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks mate. Good to hear what your doing instead of annoying music. What are the specs your riding and setup cost. Thanks
Great vid. Great to have live commentary. Can i ask why that kit is so light? The mast? Cheers

Hey Paul, could you film a session with just takeoffs - standard and with the J-turn? Fun vid to watch. Thx

Love it, but for 5500$ USD... Seems like ALOT. Been putting off buying one due to high price
