Growing Orange Tree From Seed Time Lapse (213 Days)

- Ever think about growing your own orange tree? This time-lapse shows you how an orange tree was growing from a fresh seed to a young plant. We extracted the orange seed from a fresh store-bought fruit. It was then buried under moist soil. Three weeks later, the seed was sprouting and growing slowly with first leaves and spikes. The growth rate was improved a bit later. After 7 months, our orange tree is about 1 foot in height with few branches.

It's wonderful how little thing as a seed can grow to be a tree
Right
As human also did
All praises to the Lord. Subhanallah. And yet we deny his existence and commandments
@styxia Same I believe in Jehovah
@styxia one God and it is Allah ☝🏻
Wow 213 days it’s soooo long time!
Yea its almost a year
Start on Jan 1st or today!
It can be easy in spring and summer time but difficult in cold seasons
I subscribed! I love your content, but what do you with all the plants and trees you grow?
Amazing
Wow 213 day's, its no wonder fresh squeeze orange juice has always been so expensive.
And we ddin’t evan get an orange
What kind of light did you use???
0:09 Mmm, oranges, I love a good 🍊!
michael cleveland’s orange blossom special fits so perfectly over this
quick tip if you are wataring your plants too much algae can grow on the soil
to get rid of algae you can sprinckle with cinamen and scrap of the algae
Nice! thanks for the tip.
Can you please make an update video on it? We would love to see it!
We did posted an update on our community page.
@@eLapseTime I saw it and looks good! Please keep us updated until you get fruit!
hello. I have a question. If you are from the US, how did you get the orange seeds? I have been searching for them for a while and can't find any. But i usually get a pack of them. Or Do I get an orange by weight?
Yeah, most oranges in US stores are seedless Navel oranges. You'll need to look for the Valencia oranges. They aren't in-stock all the time but sometimes.
I found oranges with seed from my current job at Amazon fulfillment center. I was surprised they gave us oranges with seed so I took advantage & started growing them.
You can just: Grab a orange, slice it at the middle, search for seeds, put in the water (I think), and plant it on the soil!
@@PererecaSuicida1 I think the best way to do it is just get a seed And clear the husk around it and put the seeds in a wet paper towel for about a week.
@@PererecaSuicida1 It worked for me with date palm seeds, apple seeds, pear seeds, dragon fruit seeds, kiwi seeds and lemon seeds
Hiya thanks for the great work, how many time do you water it?
About twice a week
Ahh wonderful thanks so much!@@eLapseTime I am giving this a go for sure!
Hi! The plant looks absolutely stunning, but does it ever become a sapling? Perhaps that is a sapling, but what I’m trying to say is does it become more tree-like?
Eventually it will grow bark, but many oranges and citrus trees are bush-like plants so it might only look like a small tree/bush
@@thenorthernplanter ok thank you so much!

Some grow bark and get tall and really dense, my grandpa had lime ones in his farm and one or two got really big, you could literally go under it to pick limes.
The saplings for producing fruit efficiently comes from grafting, not from planting seeds directly like this. For grafting, you pick a tree that is resistant to diseases and is from the same "family" as the one you want to grow, like oranges, limes and lemons, for citrus. Then you grow its roots, cut off its top portion, then you get a brach from an older tree (the one with the desired fruit) and you literally stick the branch inside of the one you grew the roots and the two will merge over time and become a tree that is better than the normal one would be. You could do that interchangeably, like getting the roots from a lime tree and put an orange branch on top of it, the top portion will grow oranges normally and bottom will grow limes (branches at the lower part are usually cut off). It's a really cool process.
how do you grow its roots I'm keen on trying this :) @@xav7311
As the time lapse was going, did you add nutrients or anything to the soil? How often did you water?
I have an orange tree that I have been growing for over a year now and it it about 6 inches tall. 😢
Your tree is very nice looking. I would love to achieve that success. Any help os appreciated. Thank you!
Nope, we didn't add any nutrients to the soil. It's watered about twice a week with rain water. Our tree is over a year old now, and it's over 2ft tall.
@@eLapseTime what kind of soil mix are you using?
@@eLapseTimeyou might wanna consider some calcium for the foliage but otherwise it's a very good tree c:
@@user-hg4vh6oc9q hii :D I'm also growing an orange tree! Mine has 4 months ^^ and it's about 4 inches I'm a beginner too but I use soil that says it's for citrus on the bag. It sort of looks more grassy than regular plants soil and it's very soft and ever since I started using it my orange seedling, Josh, started growing double the leafs he used to have in 1 third the time! c:
Water whenever the soil is dry when you stick your finger in it and I personally bottom water him to avoid fungus gnats. It would be helpful if you had some perlite to mix in with the soil but if not, that's okay I don't have either. Whenever you change the soil your plant doesn't need any fertilizer for a couple of months because the new soil already has everything it needs but I have bought a bottle of fertilizer for later if he'll ever need in the years to come ^^ remember that every orange tree is different and some can take up to 15 years to mature enough to make fruit safely without damaging their branches I think, while others might never fruit, and that's okay too c:
But you might wanna try giving your plant a bit more light if it has stagnant growth, who knows, maybe that's what it needs
@cheese7119 thank you. I am using an orange bag of soil called MIracle Grow "palm, cactus, and citrus." I keep her on the front porch. I live in Florida. I appreciate the help!
Question!! when is it safe to plant outside?
also great video!
We would say early summer. However, orange trees can only be grown outsides, if you live in zone 9 to 11.

My lemon tree is 6 months old and it is half a intch
Eu plantei 6 sementes em sacos de arroz de 5kg com areia do meu próprio quintal e estão todas saudáveis, também coloco casca de fruta no pé. A variedade que plantei, aqui no Brasil é conhecida como Laranja-Seleta.
I tried planting oranges, why did one seed grow two or three shoots
I take it he hard puter casing, cuts sprouting time a few days
Hi what kind of soil you use?
Soil from earth I guess but I could be wrong
How long does it take for a lemon tree grown from seed to produce its first flowers?
About 4-7 years I believe
Just buy grafted onez lol.
If you are not patient
Average 🍊 moment
I can use this video
Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately, our videos are meant to be exclusive to this channel.
did u transplant it into the ground?
Nope. It won't survive through the winter here. We will keep it in a pot as a houseplant.
@@eLapseTime you think it has a chance to make fruit? Maybe in a bigger pot?
Yes, perhaps! but not sure how long it will take.
@@eLapseTime this really helped me as I was growing an orange plant. Thank you very much for this video lots of love ❤
@@eLapseTimeBut could it produce oranges? Please and thank you of course.
What's in your soil?
It's just all purpose potting mix
Any fertilizers?
@@eLapseTime
Nope!
@@eLapseTime ?
I mean "No fertilizers was used". It was the answer for your question "Any fertilizers?"
It gives orange or not its year
7-9 years until it fruits
I've tryed growing lemons and oranges they died every time I don't know why
Same. Every time that I want to grow a seed it dies. 😢
So where's the orange
How much time do we have to water it in a day? Please someone help..
No need to water it everyday. 2 - 3 times per week should be fine.
My question is why is my orange plant making pther orange plants
Bro where is the orange
Hiiii
Watching this as I eat an orange with my dirty hands
That’s slow as hell
Oye uncle aise nahi ugtee
Its not going to be a orange unless you graft it. It may be some other variety of citrus because the orange was probably cross pollinated!
