Sure, let's just ignore the fact that orange trees can take up to 15-20 years for them to fruit if grown from a seed. While the plants you get from nurseries are mature branches grafted onto rootballs or rose bushes trunks, and still take up to 3 years to fruit.
That’s very true, but its still nice to see someone encouraging people to at least try and plant something themselves even if the results aren’t quick. I would hope people watching these vids would at least know to use basic science from elementary school about trees to know you’re not going to get fruit in a matter of months, let alone a couple of years when starting from a seed (unless you get a tree from a nursery). It’s just common sense, because it’s not like planting tomatoes or corn, it’s a _tree_ … Going by some of his other videos, he also uses certain terminology that a random person who has zero idea about gardening/planting simply wouldn’t know, so it seems he’s already basing his “start from a seedling” tips off of people who already have an interest with these things, are at least already familiar with the concept of growing a tree from a seedling, using common sense, or will do more research into the plants they’re trying to grow instead of basing their results solely off of what he’s doing alone… Because not only is time and patience an obvious factor that is never mentioned, but soil type and getting your soil tested if you plant to transplant anything in your yard, how often to water, the type of fertilizer to use (N-P-K values for specific plants), hardiness zone for transplanting outside, etc. are also never mentioned in most of the videos, either, which are often vital for successful results. I look at it more as “you can do this, too, and get a head start for future you” types of videos aimed towards people who already know patience is the one thing you’re going to need when it comes to this stuff, notably with certain plants that are trees if we use common sense around us to know that those take a long time to mature even when they’re not producing fruit. I do wish he’d mention more information in his videos because there sometimes will be people in the comments who have no clue what they’re doing and annoyed that their results aren’t appearing like his in a matter of days or weeks because certain details were omitted, but it’s also on the person who is growing to do more research. That’s basic gardening 101, or just basic anything 101: always do research.
@@tvwyler3403 3-5, from seed? Sure mate. Some species can start producing fruit at 7 years, most take up to 15 years, and a few take up to 20 pending environmental factors. Anything less then 7 years would be a grafted tree where a healthy branch from an older tree is grafted onto a root ball of any other species. For example, kumquats are often grafted to a rose bush. A simple google search of "how long does an orange tree take to bear fruit from seed" would give you the 7-15 or 10-20 years.
