They won't grow into Honeycrisps (apples don't self-pollinate so will never be true to seed) - so the resulting apple could be anything. Could be a tiny, woody, barely edible apple, or could be the next big thing. I guess in a decade or two youll know
@@-weaponized6493 No, because they don't self pollinate. Apples are more like humans than tomatoes or herbs as far as reproductive outcome is concerned. Just like 2 humans make a new human that doesn't look exactly like the original, apple from apple trees grown seed don't taste exactly like the original either. The cool thing is, we can clone apple trees to get the same apple through grafting. You take a good sturdy root and you essentially transplant a whole new tree onto it and it will grow the same apple as the original. So every Honey crisp apple you have ever eaten has the exact same DNA as the very first
Apple seeds are almost never true to type. You’re more likely to get an undesirable woody apple. It also takes years to grow them out to trees to get fruit, and you need at least two *different* varieties that flower around the same time to pollinate each other, since they’re not self pollinating. Good luck if you try though!
There is an orchard just a couple kilometers away. Would that be close enough to pollinate or do they have to be right beside eachother. ( I know that's preferred)
Us as kids putting the apple seeds straight into the ground and wondering why it’s not growing😂💀 Edit: thx for all the likes this is the most likes I’ve ever had ❤❤
i thought that putting it in a peach orchard was a good idea because then all those years ago it grew into a tree! and they all thought it was a regular tree but it was my honeycrisp apple
cracked open a Pink Lady Apple core recently. 3 of the seeds we're already sprouting. I know that's how it's supposed to work, but it's my first time seeing it.
I throw them into the ground in the garden, and they grow when they are ready, so I have apple seedlings popping up in the garden every few months. Now I even have a couple of pear and I’m guarding them carefully because I’ve never had them grow before. Also have lemon seedlings popping up, from seeds thrown in the garden. Lots of fun.
@@ryanacar3773technically throwing them out in the garden is the same thing so long as it’s winter where you’re at. They’ll get the cold conditioning they need
If it's good, you created a new apple variety If it's bad, you got a readily grown rootstock to graft on any variety you actually like (you'll likely even get a twig for free if any of the neighbours has a tree) It's a win-win!
are there varieties of apples that will reliably grow into edible apple trees, without grafting? I'm not against grafting, but I am just curious if it's all varieties or only certain ones. I personally really like Gala and Golden Delicious, the textures and tastes are just what I prefer.
@@lindseysgreencanvasNo, sadly apples don't (hardly) ever grow true to seed. You might still get a good apple though, and maybe even one similar to it's parent. I think it's worth it, I try a few every year. I'll see if the ones from a few years ago are good soon lol
Have you ever tried a fruit called a "Mamey Sampote" before? It tastes kinda similar to pumpkin, sweet potato, & vanilla all in one. They have fast growing seeds as well.
I put seeds from a Carmel apple straight in some wet potting mix after stratifying them in the fridge for a week or two, and two of them grew just fine
Omg, I had watched your actual video about apples, and I did what you said about putting the apple in a warm place. Then I put it back in the fridge and I got a sprout 🥺 thank you sooo much ❤️
Honeycrisp have RUINED me for every other apple for bare apple eating. But, if I'm making a pie, it's Granny Smith all the way- tart, tangy, cinnamon-y sweet divinity. Haven't been brave enough to blend in a little Honeycrisp with them yet, even though they're also amazing for baking.
btw the tree that’s grown may not actually grow into the variety you want. the most efficient way to get your own tree which produced its fruit is to graft the trees, i highly recommend you look up grafting. Also apples may not thrive in your environment. But i believe in your apple journey
No need to go through all those steps. I put my seeds right in a little pot of dirt and watered them. In a month they were three inches tall. And you won't get Honey Chrisp from those seeds but it makes a nice plant
I started growing them in a pot until I realized that it’s better to throw germinated seeds directly into the ground either in spring so they’ll grow directly up, or the fall and they should pop up in the spring…… ; )
Honestly I just threw them in a pot added used coffee grounds to revive the dead soil in the pot and now 2 weeks later my second sprout of 6 has surfaced.
apple seeds don't grow into the same flavor that they were from. they're actually quite weird from a genetic standpoint. you're more likely to get a sour apple than anything sweet. everytime a farmer play the seedling they are rolling the dice on what kind of apple it will be, and most of the time they are sour.
You’re going to have to wait at least 7+ years for that to flower and set fruit to find out IF it’s even a honeycrisp variety. Let it grow a little and just graft a honycrisp variety to the seedling rootstock. Done.
People really believe she actually fully grows these plants considering she's in canada growing on pouch 😅 Its all for the money and most likely just thrown away after the video ia uploaded.
Its better to grow apples from cuttings because then you can be 100% sure that its going to be the same varaiaty because most apples are hybrids if you grow them from seed u wont get the same fruit the fruit will be small woody and bitter most apples dont grow true to type its better if you grow apples from cuttings
Me and my cousin took the seeds out of the watermelon then we grew it in my grandmas house and EVREY Friday we check on it and it grow because their nanny waters them and we are waiting until it’s a watermelon 🍉 😂

If you want a honey crisp, you need at least get a branch and put it in a glass of water. Or graft after few years on this seedling. Unlikely it's gonna end up outside. Most likely it's gonna end up in the garbage. Unless she has 50 acres to grow useless apple tree.

She is seeding views not trees!
Fun fact: didjya know that apple trees almost certainly don’t grow true to seed?!
yeah, the apples will taste bad. You graft apple trees, you don't plant them.
It's surprising what this lady doesn't know.
wouldn't it be true to apple if it was the same? if it were true to seed, wouldn't you just grow a tree sized seed?

YES! Now I can grow my seeds correctly! I wasn’t peeling the seeds! No wonder they weren’t growing…

U need to put the seeds into the fridge

I don't peel mine, ever. Just cold stratify in your chosen way, and then plant.
You don’t need to peel them, just either get your seeds, put it in a plastic bag, then stratify, or just put the entire apple in the fridge and wait
I thought it took a full 7 years for a apple tree started from seed to produce fruit
It does from what I've read

They're like the infomercial apple of the produce section.
Does it grow on dirt too? Or it only grows on soil?
Honestly I just threw them in a pot added used coffee grounds to revive the dead soil in the pot and now 2 weeks later my second sprout of 6 has surfaced.

Can you tell how to germinate seeds

Apples should be grafted to rootstock.
If we put out planet like this small outside in summer. Then it will be that in half day at 1pm😂😂

It’s only gonna take 10 years to make apples guys super fast 😂
I have an apple seed growing right now but its a tad premature and I’m not sure if it will 👹 g r o w 👹
You didn't have to cold stratify?
You’ll save a lot of money.
Hmm, you won’t be growing honeycrisps though.
My seeds leafs turned yellow.. what should I do

Bro it the mum from the Lorax
do you need to close the towel
Only 8 more years until you see an apple Lmfao
Please the end, I'm going to choke on my food
I just put the Apple seeds straight into the ground and now i have trees
Growing apples is a fun activity. It just takes two years to get actual fruit a best.
Yesterday i was eating an apple and all the seeds had already sprouted

Apple seeds will grow a plant but not the apples.
I thought apples had to be grafted with another tree

If you get any apples from those seeds you can name them, they will be the only ones like them

nah bruh she really talking like glados 💀

First, teach me how to crack an apple with bear hands!
