The greatest Romanian invention is the Plane. Traian Vuia was the first to build a flying machine that could take off and land without any exterior help. Everybody thinks the Wright brothers invented the Plane but their machine was not capable to take off and fly independently. It needed a railway a catapult and head wind, thus it was more a Glider than a Plane.

I was 8 years-old when I firstly saw a 3D movie in Romania. It was the '80s. A romanian naval officer invented the jet engine way before others took his merits, „Cantacuzino” Institute invented so many drugs, remedies and tretaments that became a threat for Big Pharma, so it was shut down.
I really hope they'll bring the Institute back, polidin production at least!

@@MrGiant it's so much more than what got presented in that video, man! Lazăr Edeleanu invented the modern refining process for crude oil and invented the first process to synthesise amphetamine (I hear this is used a lot by some people as a drug; crystal meth).
The first industrial oil refinery was built in Romania in 1866 by two Romanian brothers near Ploiesti, 60 km from Bucharest.
As a sidenote, Ploiesti, my birth town had 14 oil refineries in the two world war times. Americans tried to bombard them but failed due to poor visibility because of the smoke produced to conceal the city.

But the way they where organised one was amassed and clearly shows that the land they stolen and country they made of it can be a actual decent and well organised place to live in since they are not stupid just they can’t resist stealing something.

The first documented patent for a flying saucer was submitted by Romanian inventor Henri Coanda. He made a functional small scale model which was flown in 1932 and a patent was granted in 1935
Other inventions by Romania:

I would also add Henri Coanda, inventor of jet engine and aerodynamics pioneer; Lazar Edeleanu, romanian chemist that realised for the first time the synthesis of amphetamine and invented the modern method of refining oil; Stefan Odobleja, the father of cybernetics, the first who introduced the concept of AI. Also, the first petroleum refinery in Europe, was built in Ploiesti Romania...

I got to share with you a funny thing about your no 2, Nicolae Paulescu. the inventor of insuline. The reason why he didn't get recognition is because he was considered an anti-semit. The funny thing I want to share, is that him or someone close to him stated that all the people who doesn't like his political ideas are free not to use insuline :)
And I would also add that he has never said that he would not treat Jews. He was a real doctor. Politics is politics and being a doctor is being a doctor - yes, he was a real doctor and a brilliant mind.

Also needed to be mentioned that the first Ford Mustang was projected by a romanian and his team Joe Oros was his name or Iosif Oros in 1965. He received a plan from the director of Ford Lee Iacocca to create a car for men but to be a magnet for womens and him and his team did it!

Hi there Mr Giant with all my respect what you think about of our contry , there is Traian Vuia who was the first to demonstrate that a flying machine could rise into the air by running on wheels on an ordinary road. He is credited with a powered hop of 11 m (36 ft) made on March 18, 1906, and he later claimed a powered hop of 24 m (79 ft) and Henri Coanda invented the first jet engine, but only the rich country's take the credits , thank you for your interest about this personalities and jah bless you.

He invented the Coandă-1910 described by Coandă in the mid-1950s as well as the world's first jet, a controversial claim disputed by some and supported by others.

There are many small countries where folks invented things. The thing is all these people invented to fulfill a need while in US or other big countries there is a need to find a need and monetize it. With monetization comes investment and larger adoption and thus becomes more known. Small countries especially 100 years ago had no such capabilities (investment, marketing and bring to market at large scale). That's why you will hear about many inventions not known to the public

Most Romanians are great and smart people. Unfortunately, as we can see most of the inventions were discovered by Romanian scientists living outside Romania. That is happening until today, usually, they need to move abroad to succeed in life, and as such the innovator is Romanian but is not Romania benefiting from the invention. Let's hope that will change. Bless you, all.

Hi. What about the first oil refinery in the world that vas established near Ploiesti, in the mid 1800s and it was known as THE MEHEDINTEANU DISTILLERY, named after the Mehedinteanu brothers that used to distill lamp gas from crude oil. Currently, on the same location runs a relative modern oil refinery named VEGA.
The riveting techique for assembling different tipes of materials I belive it was first used on a railway between Sinaia and Predeal (not sure of this, please correct if wrong), afterwards this technology was used to build the Anghel Saligni bridge at Fetesti, and probably the most iconic landmark in the world - The Eifel Tower in Paris.

You forgot one of the greatest inventions ---- the Coandă effect, by Henry Coandă. You forgot one by the great sculptor Constantin Brâncusi. The first oil well in the world was built in Romania. The oil pumps that drilled at 150 meters were put into operation in 1840, in the town of Lucăceşti in Bacău county. Traian Vuia was a Romanian inventor, pioneer of world aviation. On March 18, 1906, he made one of the first self-propelled flights (without catapults or other external means) with a heavier-than-air device. Etc, etc, etc, we are a small people but if we were left alone we would change the world for the better.

Coanda get his professional education in Germany and later in France. His productive career also was abroad. When he came back to Romania he produced nothing.

Henry Coanda 1910, at Paris show he flew the first jet plane, almost killed himself. Put a propeller in a tube and made of wood, was honestly unsafe for flying. But flying began dangerously without safeties

Another Romanian invention is the jet engine. Invented by Henry Coandă, artilery man and engineer. In aerodinamics is very well known the Coanda Effect.

The Coanda effect is what he discovered. But he had nothing to do with a jet engine. His Coanda 1910 had a Thermojet engine. It is not the same.
Interesting video and thank you for the appreciation to my compatriots, I want to come with some clarifications, regarding Henri Coandă, he patented the aerojet engine which is different from the turbojet engines that are universally used today in aviation, the aerojet engine (Coandă) is an engine jet fueling the combustion chamber with a rotary compressor driven by a classic piston engine, unlike the turbojet engine which uses a rotary compressor driven by a turbine placed in the jet, the turbojet engine is also of two kinds depending on the type of compressor used, the German version used a centrifugal compressor designed by Heinkel and used in WW2 on the Me 262 aircraft and Frank Whitle's English version which used an axial compressor, the Whitle engine prevailed and is the most widely used today.
Returning to Henri Coanda, the aerojet engine(Coandă) did not prevail, but he remains the undisputed inventor of this type of engine, but related to the fact that he is not the inventor of the first jet plane, this is due to the fact that his plane suffered damage when it made its first flight and the inventor did not have financial resources to carry out the repairs and repeat the patent, at that time to patent an aircraft you had to take off and exceed the height of 15 meters from the runway fly 1 km perform a 180 degree turn and to land back on the same runway, then you had to repeat the flight in the opposite direction within a maximum of 24 hours, and you would get the patent for the respective plane, Coandă's plane took off, exceeded the height of 15 meters but had to make an emergency landing because the wooden fuselage caught fire from the jet generated by the engine, the damage did not allow the continuation of the patent procedure, what is interesting is that on this occasion Coandă discovered the effect that bears his name, namely the "Coandă effect" due to which the jet "leaked" near the fuselage and caused the plane to catch fire, the Coanda effect is today widely used in a lot of applications.

Also we Romanians invented the first tax evasion in the World ! :)) During Ottoman ocupation, the taxes were calculated by the number of peasants living in one feud. So the local Romanians boyards had the great ideea that when the Ottomans were comming to take the taxes, thet were sending all the peasants to hide in the forest for a couple of weeks, so the area would look depopulated and poor, so the tax will be just a fraction of what it suposed to be :))

Well, my friend .... let's start with the begining ..... of Europe..... Anyone can check : during MicroWurm, the only inhabited zone in Europe that lasted was in southern Romania - Wallachia . And that was due to fact that a geo-microclimate favored human surviving. At that period existed Pontic Lake , not Black Sea , a sweet water lake not invaded by Mediteranean Sea. Water lvl was around -200m and that depth generated an almost tropical warm on its shores. Cold air/winds from Ukrainean Steppes made the warm air from lake to be directed along Danube Valley, as Caucasus and Anatolian Shores were bariers and Meridional Carpatians and Balkans made an oppening with a funneling effect. So, that made an habitat for humans and later they repopulated Europe. I wish I came upon this video five month ago when you first posted it. I just wanted to express my admiration about your way of presenting and commenting on this information here presented. Some people might fall for some long-due nationalistic pride, but way more important would be for us all to ponder over the idea that Everything that we commonly enjoy in our current civilization is not the result of one or another country, you know, the ones we are used to permanently see on our screens, but mostly in our school manuals. We are all too familiar and complacent about the fact that the world has been fractured into very important, powerful countries and countries that do not matter, totally grey and insignificant. The issue here is that the balance is totally upset, with three quarters of the global population being “insignificant”. I consider it is important not to fall anymore for that self-aggrandizing attitude of “look here, it’s US who’d done this all”. We need to shift our scale of values and adopt an all-inclusive p.o.v, see how we are all forming a collective hive-mind (I am aware of the pleonasms) - this IS the reality.
