What’s the Erin Brockovich movie about?
Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman, Notting Hill and My Best Friend’s Wedding) is a mother of three kids. She gets into a car accident, in which she is not in fault, but her lawyer Ed Masry (Albert Finney fom Tom Jones, Annie and Murder on the Orient Express) still loses the case because of her attitude in front of the court. She manages somehow to convince him to give her a job as a legal assistant in his law firm. Erin uncovers some medical records placed in real estate files. She starts to investigate with Ed’s approval, and she discovers that a huge firm is hiding the contamination of the water to the consumers. A local community, Hinkley, is particularly affected, the contaminated water is causing devastating illnesses among its residents.

This one of my favorite parts of one of my favorite movies. This part grounded the fact that yes EVERYONE believes and knows that the water is contaminated. It brings up the very real notion that a billion dollar a year company would rather let people die than admit any wrong doing. Outstanding movie every step of the way.

Ed as an experienced lawyer knew full well that PG&E was simply pulling a intimidation tactic and he also knew he couldn't afford to allow them to think it had worked. It really was a laughable pissing contest that they forced him to play. The real beauty and point of this scene is that in the end the real power in that room didn't come from a strutting lawyer, it came from Erin's righteous fury in knowing that PG&E was trying buy their way out of the high cost they created for potentially hundreds of people so cheaply. Because no matter how powerful or educated they might be Erin's simple math and pointedly calling them out for their legal and moral accountability to their clients effectively shut them down.

@@Terra_Lopez Erin saying it was from a well in Hinckley BEFORE the lawyer took a sip, was to show what she would do if she had a choice of drinking Hinckley water, or not. She had no one to hand it off to & even if she did, (Ed was her boss, not her co-worker) she was already too emotionally invested in the case. These folks had become like family to her & she knew NOBODY was going to fight as hard as her to make PG&E pay for their transgressions! NOBODY! The real criminality here is that PG&E made no attempt what so ever to prevent chromium 6 from escaping into the environment. I dealt with it for years and it was never a problem. Even without any treatment Cr+6 will spontaneously reduce to harmless Cr+3 under normal conditions in a few hours or days for a large batch. PG&E had to have been dumping Cr+6 waste continuously. It is one of the easiest and cheapest metals to remove from water.

The water wasn’t really from Hinkley - it was a very clever piece of improvisation from Erin. But the woman didn’t know that! She had a choice: drink the water to save face and continue negotiations - but put her life at risk in the process.
Or not drink the water to protect her health, thereby admitting fault. Which is why she ended negotiations.

@@nickn8502 i think that was a lie on her part to drive the point home. If it was really that water from a known tainted source, Erin could be charged with Attempted Poisoning, maybe Attempted Murder, maybe her boss too for Accessory. Of course, charging her would most likely make PG&E reveal how the water was tainted in the criminal trial. While Erin would likely go to prison, PG&E would still get sued and have even more irrefutable evidence: The transcript, Judge, Jury, Defense Attorney, Prosecutor et cetera from Erin's trial all can be subpoenaed or legally accessible in a related civil trial. Media possibly could paint her as a martyr, giving up her freedom for the thousands of clients harmed.
Governor of the state in question in an effort to assure reelection or brownie points in that aim would consider pardoning Erin. After all pardons have been granted to far less worthy people for even less noble reasons.

These two scenes are fantastic ! At least George eventually did hang in there, and saw the end result of all of Erin's labor.
This reminds me of what my infant daughter and I went through while at All Children's Hospital in St.Petersburg, FL, when she died after the medical staff administered fentanyl and KCl IV drip to her. Trying to stay alive after, has been a challenge, and that is no joke. There is much more to what has happened in my life prior to her birth, during the pregnancy, and after she died. She is buried in Florida National Cemetary, Bushnell, FL. (Miya Jane Justeson 2/23/2007-3/18/2007) ...I need legal help...

And sometimes it takes a man to have to "man up," and support his gf or wife. I mean think about it, how many of us would actually quit out job if our significant other asked us to?

Honestly, while I love this character and the movie. This was a really fucked up bit on Erins part, the story that was told about the ear rings says it all. "I'll give these to her the next time she does or says something nice" and for 6+ months that didn't happens. No wonder the guy took off, I would've as well......instead of taking responsibility for her fuck up Erin just decides to self destruct herself yet again, always felt bad for the guy in this Scene.

Julia proves her acting prowess beyond being extremely beautiful. She had the entire opposition under her footwear like a used ciggy butt. The dialogues with her husband is so intense. He just needed to be a little more patient, letting go off his ego respecting the Lady in his life. A life’s lesson to be learnt. Just plain awesome. Men have thrown their Egos around for too long a time. Even God’s dictates were altered to suit the male prowess, this is all when we still call our Planet “ MOTHER EARTH “. Please grow up guys, grow up all in the name Magnanimity. The world will be a Better place for YOU & FOR ME. Love from India.
