Ovaries and Oogenesis

In this video, I will explain the anatomical layers in the ovaries (mesothelium, tunica albuginea, ovarian cortex, ovarian medulla) and some of the supporting structures (ovarian ligament, mesovarium). I will briefly explain the formation and signs and symptoms of ovarian cysts. I will explain the steps of oogenesis and formation of primordial ovarian follicle, primary ovarian follicle, secondary ovarian follicle, tertiary/mature/Graafian follicle, the impact of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), the cells produced at the end of meiosis I and meiosis II, the process of ovulation, the events occurring in the uterine/fallopian tube, lifespan of the secondary oocyte, fertilization and formation of zygote, formation of morula and blastocysts, and implantation of blastocyte, formation of corpus luteum and secretion of hormones (estrogens, progesterone, relaxin, and inhbin), formation of corpus albicans.
