I love the homages and themes of the cell arc but I think the idea of him being an amalgamation of the different fighters is kinda underutilized. If anything Cell was kinda wasted potential. He's my favorite villain yeah but they did him kinda dirty. The same is true for the androids and yeah, Freeza's family and race. (Weirdly, Freeza and Buu are my least favorite Dragon Ball villains in canon. Freeza especially. I get he's iconic but he and Zenkai boosts destroyed power scaling.

I wouldn't say it's so bad it's good. It's just wasted potential due to the author burn out. Togashi had that with the Sensui arc of YYH and the Makai 3 Kings arc. A lot of folks are basic and prefer the Dark Tournament (which, don't get me wrong, is a damn good tournament arc and just arc in general but, in reality, it's just a tournament arc which makes it feel kinda generic by comparison imho) but I honestly prefer that arc because of the ideas and how it hearkens back to what made the series stand out even now.
Something I've been wondering lately-in the timelines where Goku dies from the heart virus, why didn't they use the dragonballs to cure him or to synthesize a cure for the virus?
Somewhere between Trunks' first arrival and androids' first appearance, Pilaf and gang used the dragon balls to de-age themselves. If Goku had gotten sick during the one year time period when dragon balls turn to stone, they couldn't have used them. That's the best I can come up with.

Well time travel isn't the only way timelines/universes come about, with XenoVerse we know that there are timelines / parallel universes that come into existence naturally without time travel, but I'm thinking that if those timelines / universe's also birth their own time traveler's that will just lead to more Timelines being spawned therefore more ripples, it might be an endless cycle

I like how it does cause more and more timelines and universes like you said at the end there. The problem I have is that... who's God?! We've been told that Zeno's the ultimate god, but it seems like he's affected by time ripples since there can be multiple versions of him (not to mention he seems like he can be affected by pain and death, but that's not clear). So this makes me wonder if there is a god above him who is not affected by this whatsoever. Maybe Zalama would be that one true God of the DBVerse..
Well, yes, because when Trunks traveled back in time, he altered the timeline just by doing it, and the two timelines, of course, won't be the same because of the changes he caused. But the idea that it affects the past as well, who knows. It's possible that a different future means a different past.
this was an interesting take on the timeline shenanigans that happened during the cell saga. the ripple effect would explain some stuff that happens before the introduction of trunks but i wonder what would happen if he went earlier than that. a video where he comes back to warn the z-fighters once they get teleported to earth from namek would be a cool what-if scenario. keep up the good work!!! love your content
A video idea: How well written is DBZ despite its retcons and plot holes. I bought into the many attacks The franchise has taken over the years despite it being the progenitor for battle shounen and as a result trial by fire for mistakes like powerscale, forgetting key abilities, etc. What really opened my eyes was how you pointed out the effect the androids had on cell and I never picked it up albeit I was much younger on how much thought and effort goes into the story. As far as time travel is concerned, it gets messy too fast and it's a cash ploy to milk a franchise. I don't really like it overall but it felt great in Cell Saga but was shoddy foundation for "setting up" Zamasu.
Interesting headcanon on why the extended universe exists in universe. I just prefer to invoke Occam's Razor. For example, in Cooler's Revenge, Goku might not've fully figured out how to transfer at will. The times he did it on Namek might've been out of desperation or instinct. That certainly makes the most sense to me given the evidence presented. It might've been Funimation only, where Goku says it happens "spontaneously" but it fits with every other initial transformation in both manga and anime. Super Saiyan might just be a natural evolution of the Saiyans putting themselves through harsher and harsher situations. They've been bred to fight so adapting is they're best trait as we all know. Thus, this could just be a natural extension of that. Also, this brings up another way that S-cells can work in-universe. It's just a way to explain and human and saiyan genetics. Like it could explain why humans and saiyan can interbreed. It could also explain and fit into a retcon that Universe 6 saiyans aren't saiyans at all but another close relative that can initiate a similar transformation due to being how close they are. This could even give humans a chance to get their own transformations and allow them to potentially scale up better. While I wasn't a huge fan of how Toriyama used it, I do love the idea of exploring the physiology of humans and saiyans with S-cells being the potential explanation. As for time travel, Dragon Ball might work on a fates idea where any time people attempt to change fate, it throws the cosmos and fate itself to a loop trying to contain and accommodate all of the outcomes without everything breaking down. At a certain point, the omniverse will break down and erase itself if fate keeps being challenged so vociferously. Personally, I don't buy the backwards ripple but I do buy that Trunks creates causal loops and distortions isolated to the timelines he visits. He unknowingly hits the balls on the pool table of causality which creates the chaos of fate.
With all the Towa and Mira stuff, I expect all the games are to be treated as different timelines. I like your theory, it adds a lot of mystique and even wraps in fan content like AF or What ifs.
I have believed there are different dimensions, such as the anime but then u have manga bur then u also have sub and sub which would also be different dimensions, along side all the movies and GT. Each dimension having there own timeline or timelines

Well what i understand is that in the future trunks timeline - the one that trained with Vegeta - there should be another Cell.. This cell probably wouldn’t have been strong though. Post apocalyptic timeline - everyone is dead due to 17 & 18.
I have a theory that the unseen timeline is the timelime Goku black comes from. The future trunks that traveled to the unseen timeline got killed by cell. As a result, in super he never travels back to warn the Z fighters of goku black because this trunks was the same trunks that was killed by cell. No future trunks in super means that zamasu eventually wishes the dragon to switch bodies with goku. To me, that is the only explanation of why zamasu was able to steal goku's body in this timeline... because this future trunks was dead and never came back in super to warn everyone.
There’s a problem with your theory, goku black switched bodies with goku before trunks warned the warriors, so whether he was dead or not wouldn’t change zamasu switching bodies with goku
You could pretty easily just fit every timeline into the Xenoverse timeline. Or maybe Heroes, don't know if that works the same way as Xenoverse. The time rings could be seen as contradictory to that, but I think they probably still exist within Xenoverse anyway. They could be just for timelines that are directly connected to each other.
My theory is that the reason the timeline changed between future Trunks, where trunks did not face Android 19 and 20 and also the 17 and 18 are allot more powerful in the main timeline is because trunks shows up. Remember Dr gero is constantly watching the z fighters and now what they were training extra for there the Androids arrival the events. In the future the z fighters had no idea of the androids so every went out of line when future Trunks pitched up

OK ok, laughing stock, random question popped in my head... there are points where there are 2 Cell present in some timelines. What do you think would happen if Cell absorbed Cell? Or like if two Cell teamed up and one absorbed 17 and the other absorbed 18 then one absorbed the other? Or if buu absorbed Cell or the other way around?

I must admit here Mike I'm really now preferring the Dragonball Manga Books over the anime adaptations because there's no filler in the manga books which I'm more okay with as there is some filler I do not like this includes the filler during the Fortune Teller Baba arc, The Bansho fan saga, the Garlic Jr saga etc. Anyways i just learned from my manga books at home that Goku observing Roshi, Bulma, Launch and Krillin doing Aerobics and copying Karin's movements in his sleep was filler and I also learned from the manga books that Eighter getting his bomb removed was filler too and Taopaipai climbing the karin tower and getting tricked by Karin cat was also filler. I aldo never liked the fake namek filler either and the filler of General Blue crushing on a little boy whilst he was in penguin village because he was gay.
Its never made any sense to me where the History of Trunks timeline came from. The first time travel event was Trunks from the Original timeline going back and creating the Unseen timeline, and then Cell kills him and creates the Main timeline. Then a Trunks from a completely different timeline comes back to the Main timeline? The only way you could have it make sense is if the Original Cell created the HOT timeline but got eaten by a dinosaur a year after burying himself, and when Trunks split off that timeline he arrived after Cell burried himself.
You know I like that theory that Trunks and the time travel in general gives us different outcomes both in the past, present, and future. And that's why in some timelines we not only see that Lord Slug is a thing, but Cooler, abd even Turles are. Because in Plan to Eradicate the Sayians those villians show up but we don't see Cell. Vs Future Events such as Rusion Reborn which had Goku Defeat Majin Buu but Vegeta is dead and in hell so it's very possible that in one timeline we never Super or Kid Buu as Goku or Gotenks might have beaten Buu and that's why Vegeta is still in hell. Great topic for the viewer to get to play with.
Yea All movies are non canon but great what ifs or alternative time lines Like Tree of Might is it Goku arrived in time to save all his friends from dying at the hands of the Sayians Lord Slug of Goku had no need to go to Namek due to his friends being alive and on Earth Broly maybe if Cell was killed Piccilo
One thing that always bugged me about the timelines was the existence of timetraveling Cell. The fact that Cell travelled to the past and created a new time branch, means that the Future Trunks of this timeline should have a very different history to the one portrayed in the manga or anime special. In the manga and anime special, we see a future that was destroyed by Androids 17&18. By the time Cell appears, Trunks has already destroyed those androids. However, in the time branch created by a timetravelling Cell - there would be two Cell's. One that is in the lab that doesn't appear until the androids are destroyed, but also one that appears the same week that Androids 17&18 are activated. Considering how fast this Cell powered up by absorbing humans.... he would've been powerful enough to take on and absorb the androids while Trunks was still a baby. Just as he does in the main timeline. Which means future Trunks' future would be vastly different by the presence of this timetravelling Cell. I posted the following breakdown on your previous video about the Unseen timeline: Timeline 1 / Original Timeline - Plays out just like Future Trunks says - Goku dies to heart virus - Other heroes die to androids - Trunks goes back in time - Trunks kills androids in his future - Cell kills Trunks and steals time machine Timeline 2 / Unseen Timeline - Trunks defeats Frieza and warns of androids - Goku has medicine so survives - Heroes defeat androids Timeline 3 / Twin Cells Timeline - Splits off from original timeline when future Cell arrives 4 years before androids. - Goku dies of heart virus - Heroes die to androids - Future Cell awakens from cocoon shortly after androids are activated - Future Cell absorbs androids? - Future Cell kills Trunks? Or Trunks survives but should at least know about Future Cell. - There is still the Cell from this timline in Gero's lab. Timeline 4 / Main Timeline - The Future Trunks in this timeline should've come from TL3 where there were two Cells. But he acts like he came from TL1, as he knows nothing of Cell. - The only way to make this Future Trunks' TL make sense is if Future Cell was killed before he was able to absorb the androids. It's a stretch though, because if the heroes killed Future Cell, Future Gohan and Trunks would know about it. But if the androids killed Future Cell, they might go back to Gero's lab to kill the other Cell.
The time ripple effect COULD explain this. It means Future Trunks is from timeline 1. He travels back to the main timeline, but it causes a ripple that created at least two other timelines, and somehow causes future Cell to appear in this timeline too, but even further in the past. I dunno, it feels like a cop-out to me and does less to explain the time travel and branching timelines than what we had. It means just by travelling back in time once (without even actually changing anything) Trunks has caused several branching and overlapping timelines.
I'm sure it has been addressed by someone (likely a video in the top right) but does the future timeline experience a 1:1 time lapse as the time traveler experiences it? Like did trunks go back to the future for 3 years after his first appearance or did he go straight from telling Goku to get ready for the androids to where 19 & 20 are fighting the z fighters. And I know when he gets back to the future Bulma comments about how much older he has gotten, but that can be chalked up to the rosat. I mean if time does pass 1:1 it kinda sucks leaving the future in jeopardy with no one able to fight at all if something happy, but if it doesn't, it could be majorly exploited for massive gains similarly to how the rosat works... but without even a day passing and no limits on how long you can stay, well up to 17 years or so I guess

Cell Saga has always been my favorite. For me I divide up DBZ in 4 parts. I rank these 4 parts of Dragon Ball Z from best to last in the following order, Cell Saga, Saiyan saga, Namek, and then Buu saga in that order. Buu is easily my least favorite although I don't dislike it I just find it to be the weakest part of DBZ in my personal opinion. Cell saga is peak from start to finish IMO😎
Time travel making everything so damn complicated. Saving another timeline wasn't the best idea on Buruma and her son's behalf. I know the intention was good but it changed nothing in their awful timeline. As for the movies- Garlic Jr. could fit 2 years before Raditz for example. The World's Strongest and Tree Of Might can't co. exist because each represents a different time to when Kakarrot is arriving to the battle on Earth. In movie 2 Piccoro still takes a little attack in order to save Gohan, however he survives duo to Kakarrot giving him half a Senzu. In movie 3 Kakarrot is arriving before the battle and this is why everyone is alive. I wonder if all of the movies are in the unseen timeline. Excluding Battle Of Gods and Resurrection Of Freeza.
Strange how you never show interest in or talk about Arnold's more comedic films like Twins, Jingle all the way, The Kindergarten Cop and Juinor aswell as his more fantasy films like Red Sonia, Conan the Barbarian, Last Action Hero, End of Days and Hercules in New York Mike.
Dragon ball would be an absolute tragedy if it ended in the cell arc, we hear about bardock dying the previous arc, we hear about goku dying, then see that and we all know what happens to future gohan 😢😢😢

No future trunks in super means that zamasu eventually wishes the dragon to switch bodies with goku. To me, that is the only explanation of why zamasu was able to steal goku's body in this timeline... because this future trunks was dead and never came back in super to warn everyone.
There’s a problem with your theory, goku black switched bodies with goku before trunks warned the warriors, so whether he was dead or not wouldn’t change zamasu switching bodies with goku
You could pretty easily just fit every timeline into the Xenoverse timeline. Or maybe Heroes, don't know if that works the same way as Xenoverse. The time rings could be seen as contradictory to that, but I think they probably still exist within Xenoverse anyway. They could be just for timelines that are directly connected to each other.
My theory is that the reason the timeline changed between future Trunks, where trunks did not face Android 19 and 20 and also the 17 and 18 are allot more powerful in the main timeline is because trunks shows up.
Remember Dr gero is constantly watching the z fighters and now what they were training extra for there the Androids arrival the events. In the future the z fighters had no idea of the androids so every went out of line when future Trunks pitched up

I must admit here Mike I'm really now preferring the Dragonball Manga Books over the anime adaptations because there's no filler in the manga books which I'm more okay with as there is some filler I do not like this includes the filler during the Fortune Teller Baba arc, The Bansho fan saga, the Garlic Jr saga etc. Anyways i just learned from my manga books at home that Goku observing Roshi, Bulma, Launch and Krillin doing Aerobics and copying Karin's movements in his sleep was filler and I also learned from the manga books that Eighter getting his bomb removed was filler too and Taopaipai climbing the karin tower and getting tricked by Karin cat was also filler. I aldo never liked the fake namek filler either and the filler of General Blue crushing on a little boy whilst he was in penguin village because he was gay.

Its never made any sense to me where the History of Trunks timeline came from. The first time travel event was Trunks from the Original timeline going back and creating the Unseen timeline, and then Cell kills him and creates the Main timeline.
Then a Trunks from a completely different timeline comes back to the Main timeline? The only way you could have it make sense is if the Original Cell created the HOT timeline but got eaten by a dinosaur a year after burying himself, and when Trunks split off that timeline he arrived after Cell burried himself.

You know I like that theory that Trunks and the time travel in general gives us different outcomes both in the past, present, and future. And that's why in some timelines we not only see that Lord Slug is a thing, but Cooler, abd even Turles are. Because in Plan to Eradicate the Sayians those villians show up but we don't see Cell. Vs Future Events such as Rusion Reborn which had Goku Defeat Majin Buu but Vegeta is dead and in hell so it's very possible that in one timeline we never Super or Kid Buu as Goku or Gotenks might have beaten Buu and that's why Vegeta is still in hell. Great topic for the viewer to get to play with.

One thing that always bugged me about the timelines was the existence of timetraveling Cell.
The fact that Cell travelled to the past and created a new time branch, means that the Future Trunks of this timeline should have a very different history to the one portrayed in the manga or anime special.
In the manga and anime special, we see a future that was destroyed by Androids 17&18. By the time Cell appears, Trunks has already destroyed those androids.
However, in the time branch created by a timetravelling Cell - there would be two Cell's. One that is in the lab that doesn't appear until the androids are destroyed, but also one that appears the same week that Androids 17&18 are activated.
Considering how fast this Cell powered up by absorbing humans.... he would've been powerful enough to take on and absorb the androids while Trunks was still a baby. Just as he does in the main timeline. Which means future Trunks' future would be vastly different by the presence of this timetravelling Cell.

Timeline 1 / Original Timeline
- Plays out just like Future Trunks says
- Goku dies to heart virus
- Other heroes die to androids
- Trunks goes back in time
- Trunks kills androids in his future
- Cell kills Trunks and steals time machine
Timeline 2 / Unseen Timeline
- Trunks defeats Frieza and warns of androids
- Goku has medicine so survives
- Heroes defeat androids
Timeline 3 / Twin Cells Timeline
- Splits off from original timeline when future Cell arrives 4 years before androids.
- Goku dies of heart virus
- Heroes die to androids
- Future Cell awakens from cocoon shortly after androids are activated
- Future Cell absorbs androids?
- Future Cell kills Trunks? Or Trunks survives but should at least know about Future Cell.
- There is still the Cell from this timline in Gero's lab.
Timeline 4 / Main Timeline
- The Future Trunks in this timeline should've come from TL3 where there were two Cells. But he acts like he came from TL1, as he knows nothing of Cell.
- The only way to make this Future Trunks' TL make sense is if Future Cell was killed before he was able to absorb the androids. It's a stretch though, because if the heroes killed Future Cell, Future Gohan and Trunks would know about it. But if the androids killed Future Cell, they might go back to Gero's lab to kill the other Cell.
The time ripple effect COULD explain this. It means Future Trunks is from timeline 1. He travels back to the main timeline, but it causes a ripple that created at least two other timelines, and somehow causes future Cell to appear in this timeline too, but even further in the past.
I dunno, it feels like a cop-out to me and does less to explain the time travel and branching timelines than what we had. It means just by travelling back in time once (without even actually changing anything) Trunks has caused several branching and overlapping timelines.
I'm sure it has been addressed by someone (likely a video in the top right) but does the future timeline experience a 1:1 time lapse as the time traveler experiences it? Like did trunks go back to the future for 3 years after his first appearance or did he go straight from telling Goku to get ready for the androids to where 19 & 20 are fighting the z fighters. And I know when he gets back to the future Bulma comments about how much older he has gotten, but that can be chalked up to the rosat. I mean if time does pass 1:1 it kinda sucks leaving the future in jeopardy with no one able to fight at all if something happy, but if it doesn't, it could be majorly exploited for massive gains similarly to how the rosat works... but without even a day passing and no limits on how long you can stay, well up to 17 years or so I guess

Cell Saga has always been my favorite. For me I divide up DBZ in 4 parts. I rank these 4 parts of Dragon Ball Z from best to last in the following order, Cell Saga, Saiyan saga, Namek, and then Buu saga in that order. Buu is easily my least favorite although I don't dislike it I just find it to be the weakest part of DBZ in my personal opinion. Cell saga is peak from start to finish IMO😎
Time travel making everything so damn complicated. Saving another timeline wasn't the best idea on Buruma and her son's behalf. I know the intention was good but it changed nothing in their awful timeline. As for the movies- Garlic Jr. could fit 2 years before Raditz for example. The World's Strongest and Tree Of Might can't co. exist because each represents a different time to when Kakarrot is arriving to the battle on Earth. In movie 2 Piccoro still takes a little attack in order to save Gohan, however he survives duo to Kakarrot giving him half a Senzu. In movie 3 Kakarrot is arriving before the battle and this is why everyone is alive. I wonder if all of the movies are in the unseen timeline. Excluding Battle Of Gods and Resurrection Of Freeza.
