I'm still making my way through the campaign of the game. Coming out alongside Animal Crossing has been rough. I have 150 hours already in ACNH, so Doom Eternal has been taking me a little bit. Also I'm loving it so much that I'm really taking my time. I'll probably get around to FF7R in December at this rate. God damn is this game fun though.
This is the second time I've taken on a Mick Gordon track, and where with BFG Division I tried to recreate the song with only guitars, this time I just went all out in trying to recreate it, but where all the synth solo were guitar riffs as well. I really leaned into doubling guitars with really dirty saws to get this as heavy as possible. I tuned my 8-string down to DOUBLE Drop D! That's like your guitar tuned to drop D but every string is down an octave. It was really tough getting it tight so I actually ended up stringing the lowest two strings with bass strings to get the best tone I could. It was ROUGH to play but I think it sounded good in the end!
I also really wanted to play around with reamping, but I liked the song with the tones I got the first time around so this came together actually really fast! Besides feeling like I had to violently punch my guitar to get the notes to come out right, I had a really fun time putting this together. I've always kind of had this weird mentality with metal covers about not wanting to cover stuff that's already metal but... come on. How can I pass up playing these riffs?

This is probably the lowest I've ever tuned a guitar for a cover and I'm surprised I was able to get it sounding good! The guitar is so low on this song that family jules is STRUGGLING to make his guitar sound like the one in the track. He physically can't make it low enough. God damn.

I remember listening to this track over and over again before the game came out. I literally got goosebumps when I finally heard it in game as a swarm of demons flared into existence. The ripping and tearing that ensued was one of the best experiences I've ever had in gaming.
The soundtrack literally adapts to how you play the game, so no soundtrack rip is ever the same.

I have no idea what the orig sounds like but this started off so good but it kind of sat there for me and didn't go to a higher plane. I thought it'd bust out with a more to the front sound and a ripping solo! hahahahha but nice job tho.

Basically they mixed the majority of the album without him. Mick mixed a handful of them himself including this song and Meathook. It's unfortunate but at least the music is still his.

Basically the whole issue was a massive misunderstanding between Id and Mick Gordon that snowballed out of proportion. Mick was given a deadline for the mixes but he failed to meet it. Id couldn't delay the release just for him so they were forced to ship with whatever they already had. Mick wasn't happy that Id didn't wait for the mixes to be done and interpreted it as the company being disrespectful of his work. The fans who preordered got hold of the soundtrack first, got mad when they learned it was unfinished and that the ones Mick didn't manage to complete on time had been thrown together with all the skill of a tone-deaf chimpanzee, and it all went downhill from there.

Mick deserves some love and support right now so it's nice to see this popping up in my recommended and that it's getting views.
