@@rodrigopavez6322 It's not so easy to simply say "Nd2 was wrong; Giri answered wrong." Look at the position before Nd2. What would you play? Na3 is dubious, and Nc3 just gets White's pawns doubled. I get u. But considering the complete lack of developed pieces you would be left with. It should still be considered a sacrifice imo. Like 3 or 4 top moves by Giri may have changed the outcome drastically.
Minor pieces are worth 3 points while the queen is worth 9. At best, they ended with level material after the exchange. However, the computer analysis gave Giri a strong advantage after the queen sac. Based on those facts I'd say that the argument for a queen sac is stronger.
I found it very odd that even though they are in the same room, they are still playing on computers instead of facing each other at a real board. Amazing game though! Bra gjort, Magnus!
Never put a glass of water always put a bottle of water for magnus during a chess game so that he can drink water from bottle in his style (like seeing the game and drinking water)
I'm most amazed by Magnus' foresight and confidence in his calculations / instincts to know that his king can find safe haven behind those minor pieces. He's traded his queen for 3 minor pieces, and his pieces are undeveloped and trapped behind pawns for too many moves, BUT his king can hide so there is no real threat to his king, despite everything else suggesting otherwise. A masterclass in playing unbalanced positions from an arguably worse position.
Painting it as a revolutionary “sacrifice” by magnus is a click-bait IMO. It’s certainly unusual to give up your queen in an early stage, but magnus got three light pieces for it. Don’t get me wrong, Magnus’s game is awe inspiring and the coordination of his pieces is as a beautiful as a masterful clockwork, but he made an unusual exchange for the queen, not a “sacrifice”.
Queen C7 at 7:30 would have changed the game completely. Black would have lost either Bishop or Rook (bishop if any other move than Knight A7, and if black plays Knight A7 then white Rook to D8 and check to get black Rook.
Hikarus brain is more akin to the average person, while magnus has a supercomputer. No matter how hard hikaru dedicates or practices his brain will never be able to perform like carlsons. Just simple biology.
I always tell ppl who criticise modern chess players and hail e.g 'the creativity of Tal' that it wouldn't work that way. These days, a Tal move would just be seen as a blunder. If he wins, his opponents clearly blunders back. Players are (and ppl expect them to be) better at taking advantage of dubious moves given enough time. Even here in blitz, you can see some aren't so impressed that Giri couldn't win, especially when they could see all the engine lines
This is one of those sacrifices that needs concrete objectives. As a player, everything that is in the board should have a definitive purpose, no matter how precious the pieces are. When a player release that tension of losing something valuable in exchange for beautiful ending, that is how everything becomes real. I believe that knowing the principles is not enough, you'll have to have a mind of less worry and more thoughts. Good work Magnus :)

TRADE, not sacrifice
Magnus is such a brillaint player there's really no words for him
Best game that I have ever seen (live)
the coordination of magnus' pieces are just incredible! every move is on spot
I always feel like it's all down hill after losing my queen!!! And then I see a game like this and,....🙀
Difference is Magnus carlsen is giving up the queen on purpose. You’re doing it because you’re not Magnus carlsen
Moral of this video
Always sacrifice your queen and and built a house for yourself to win in life
Anis be like: Why me?
what a pawn push! the beauty of the bishop checks to guarantee Queening... Superb!
I am blown up by the fact that title has "I" instead of "Magnus Carlsen"
true I guess this was personally titled by him🙂
Damn man that pawn sacrifice to activate and coordinate all his pieces that's just next level
You know you've already lost when magnus sacrifices his queen !!
This is the Monalisa of Chess, my god this game will be on people's minds for ages to come.
Magnus is just AMAZING!
Magnus did this magnificent coordination at blitz game... Amazing!
Will this go down as Magnus’s Immortal ??
I think it should that too when playing so fast
That game was so majestic. It started off with a queen sacrifice and then ends with a pawn promotion to a queen, what a beautiful cyclical journey
Queen TRADE, not sacrifice
@@amjan "I SACRIFICED my queen in my game against Anish Giri"
Magnus is the GOAT!!
You can even spot Anish kind of blinking in suprise at the move lol
OMG! Magnus is the best chess player of all time!
Queen C7 at 7:30 would have changed the game completely. Black would have lost either Bishop or Rook (bishop if any other move than Knight A7, and if black plays Knight A7 then white Rook to D8 and check to get black Rook.
What a masterpiece
It looks like an instant classic. I hope it is remembered and revisited for many years to come.
Wow, this game is one of the best I've ever seen. Thanks Magnus!
Magnus dedicates to play good chess, while hikaru is always complaining on twitch. That's why Carlsen always destroys him!
Hikarus brain is more akin to the average person, while magnus has a supercomputer. No matter how hard hikaru dedicates or practices his brain will never be able to perform like carlsons. Just simple biology.
The most wonderful play of chess I have seen.
Pure Mozart art! Loving it!
Your the best Carlsen!
Even here in blitz, you can see some aren't so impressed that Giri couldn't win, especially when they could see all the engine lines
wow magnus is a fucking machine....
GOAT
I guess Anish was busy looking for a draw.
