Crazynator - The Voice Changer Pitch Shift Fuzz

- Bringing back one of my absolute originals. THE CRAZYNATOR! First made all the way back when I was just a young bird trying out all kinds of experiments. Taking one of those classic voice changer megaphones and replacing the mic and speaker with an input and output. Original had some other quirks as well but for this one I have designed an entire new pcb that sort of encapsulates the voice changer PCB to get some more tone out of it, hehe.
Planning to do all kinds of quirky pedals like this in very limited runs, so stay tuned for that!

I really like my crazynator! It's wild to experiment with on many different instruments and the big switches are incredibly satisfying to operate. Love it ❤

I turned one of these megaphones into a synth module, I call it Megamodule - did a video about it. It's pretty insane. Added feedback that drives it into whacko self oscillation.

I bought one of those EXACT (same color and everything) voice changers at goodwill 5 years ago with this exact intention! Seeing this immediately has inspired me to dust off this project idea and give it a shot! It sounds so fuckin dope!!

awesome!!! simon the magpie is such an inspiration... got me into circuit bending an modular synthesis. i remember watching the original crazynator build vid, managed to make one myself using that vid. still wanna build that t pain mic fx pedal!!!

I wonder if that voice changer toy is based on HT8950 chip. Looks like the toy PCB has a the typical chip on board "blob" on it but I wouldnt be surprised if Holtek sells them as those too, or if some other manufacturer has just cloned it and made them as blobs that are either somewhat compatible or even fully compatible.
Sadly not! Atleast note the ones I have. I did deep diving, hehe. Some JL chip that is seemingly impossible to source, super lame.
I have a handful of HT8950 though, wanted to do something strange with it a while back. I bet together with a LM386 (as in the voice changer toys) you could get real crunchy with a HT8950.
I think the DBA Robot is based on it if I remember correctly and that one sounds wild!
@@SimonTheMagpie The functionality just seemed so much alike. I have a two HT8950A chips from some cheap kits lying around somewhere. I experimented with them years ago, but didn't end up with anything I would have turned on the soldering iron for. I think the kits even had an LM386 included... :D
