Great video as always. The only thing you missed was that the SMP has a ceramic dial that will not discolor with age, so it will always look fantastic.
For my money, I'll take the Tudor. The aesthetics for me are better and I like that Tudor now has METAS with a longer power reserve. The bracelet and clasp are better IMHO.
Omega. The white is the best of the Diver 300 line, IMO. It's just enough bling. The OEM rubber on deployant takes it to the next level. Great vid as usual Brad!
Short answer Tudor wins by a lot. When I turn that bezel, when I look at that worm guilt dial and domed crystal and the way the hands catch the light. When I look at the smoothed off finishing of the bracelet and the clasp extensions don't show a different design and the clasp is even with the bracelet no bump up ,... I can go on and on but Tudor wins
SMP takes the win - hands down. Superior finishing on case (interplay of high polish vs brush) Better case design. Better dial quality. Better decorated movement, which you can appreciate visually. Better materials on dial and bezel (ceramic and rodium) More precise bezel (120 vs 60) More refined movement winding feel. Easier to pair with alternative straps. Better lume BB wins only on bracelet taper. Movement winding is sandpaper gritty AF. Oh, and of course, the BB is cheaper.
I’ll go for Omega. You will never get bored with Omega, it’s practical, it has a date function. Good for those who wants to get for price per complications. Plus, you can pretend to be James Bond or talk about James Bond. It is also a strap monster. Its a popular watch, its a common one, but unique in your collection. Tudor is the complete opposite. Unless it’s the BB58 or the B4, that size is becoming cumbersome for 3 hander dull coloured watch. In a year or two you will be contemplating of selling it. My opinion only.
I own that omega and it takes my vote. But wait! Yesterday I put a black on black B41 on order with my AD. I guess I’m weird like that 😂🤣😂🤣 Or maybe I just love watches?
I have both. The Tudor is more refined and the tactile experience of the bezel, crown and clasp are better. The Omega has a more attractive case, a dynamic dial and a more technical movement. Honestly, the price difference is unjustifiable. The Tudor is a much better value.
Love that white dial on the Omega and like the bracelet as well! Though both are bigger than I would wear, I would vote Omega (and would probably buy one in a smaller size if they ever went that way!).
I have the white dial smp and it's just fantastic. They do make a 36mm SMP300 but it's not METAS and it only comes in blue and black but it might be worth looking into
Perfect comparison! I am planning my 50th birthday watch purchase (a year from now), and I have been thinking heavily about these two watches. Thanks for putting them “in the ring”! Which one do I like more? Leaning toward the Omega.
In this comparison the more expensive watch actually buys you more so it mak s sense to spend more. The coaxial METAS movement can't be be beat, at least not in Switzerland.
I have both in the same variations in this video. The Omega looks lovely in sunlight because of the laser cut out on the waves. It fits even better on a NATO or rubber strap for me. It keeps nearly perfect time. I got the new burgundy BB41 with the jubilee bracelet. It gains 2 seconds a day. The sunburst black dial is also a nice upgrade from the predecessor. I paid $4300 for my Seamaster via a reputable gray market dealer while I paid retail for the BB41 since Tudors don’t get discounted anymore. I mentioned this because Omegas can still get bought at a discount so it’s more apple to apple from this vantage point. Hard to choose honestly. I’m going to give a slight nod to the Omega since it’s a bit more accurate. I hope they slim down future Blackbays because it wears a lot better than the older models.
Wearing my SMP 300m Diver (in Summer Blue) as I watch this video, so the SMP has my vote. However, I really like the new Black Bay 41 Burgundy on the 5-link/jubilee bracelet!!
For wrist shots, if the bracelets aren't sized for your wrist, maybe don't pull them so tight. It gives a false sense of appearance. People don't wear their watches that tight, so it won't look so nice and clean on a persons wrist when they actually size and wear the watch. Thanks for the comparison.
Well, after roughly a week of being able to comment I did my best to tally the votes this morning before round 2 gets uploaded tomorrow. Some comments didn't specifically indicate one way or another so nothing was recorded in these instances. By split decision, Omega takes round 1 24 - 20.
Great vid and initial comparison Brad. I have the black SMP and last Red Heritage Veraion (i.e., chrono but not Metas cert) on the diatressed black leather delpoent. (do you sell the bracelet, and does it fit previous ver? Think it should since movement the only real diif-and the bracelet.) They are very different watches. Looks? Depends on the use case/occassion. That said, I lean toward the Tudor’s classic’s understated presence, fit for just about any occassion, but mine with leather, not so much water. I Particularly like wearing it in super casual settings with T-shirt and Jeans. The SM Pro is a stand out sort of watch, and I wear it in that regard. Would love to see the timegraphers on both.
Love the comparison videos. Would you consider comparing the Omega Seamaster 300 vs. Breiting SOH II? I am in the market for a "dress" diver, but also LOVE the Seamaster Professional.
I have both watches and my Breitling SOH 2 gets way more wrist time as I still wear a suit to work. It’s just a dressier watch. The Omega is a quality watch but the stark white face with the black bezel is just more limiting even in a more casual setting.
Omega Seamaster Diver 300m between these two. As nice as the Black Bays are, they just never really did it for me. Now the next match up will be more difficult since I love the Pelagos 42 (my favourite Tudor by far).
Hi Brad, I had an Omega once, and it was a constant disappointment from the start, so for me the only winner could be the Tudor. I understand that Omegas are better now than the dreadful Seamaster that I had, but the Black Bay model gives me everything that I want from a dive watch. The Tudors that I have are really excellent, so I'm happy to continue supporting the brand. Cheers, Bob 🍻⌚🚂
That Omega desperately needs a complete overhaul 🤦🏻♂️ the bracelet and bezel action are awful as are the skeleton hands. It could do with a bigger power reserve and a slimmer case too🤦🏻♂️ the Tudor is just another Rolex homage 🤦🏻♂️
Great video as always. The only thing you missed was that the SMP has a ceramic dial that will not discolor with age, so it will always look fantastic.
It's a con
I've compared both before and finally I go with Omega SMP 300. The AD shop guy also recommend Omega in term of brand , quality and resale value.
Tudor wins for everything I like in a dive watch. Bezel, bracelet and I also prefer the aluminum bezel.
Tudor for me.
Gotta go with the Tudor.
I have to go Tudor here, but with the jubilee bracelet option. Both are solid offerings
The five link looks great.
For my money, I'll take the Tudor. The aesthetics for me are better and I like that Tudor now has METAS with a longer power reserve. The bracelet and clasp are better IMHO.
Good to see a good fight!!! Tudor wins !! sorry Omega hate the old fashion bracelet 👎🏻
Omega.
The white is the best of the Diver 300 line, IMO. It's just enough bling. The OEM rubber on deployant takes it to the next level.
Great vid as usual Brad!
I do like the deployant on these models,.
TUDOR hands down 😤🤩
Omega for me - I have this version but have it on the OEM deployant which makes it super comfortable
But this was not a versus....All you did was read off specs. What is the score? Who has the better this or that? Who is the winner?
Thought it was pretty clear, which one are you spending your money on and putting on your wrist?

Tudor
Tudor all the way!!
As you know, I already own an SMP 300, with the blue dial. In this particular comparison, the red bezel on the Tudor stands out. Slight edge there.
I have both - black SMP and BB Bronze. It’s tough to choose between these two. They can live side by side in a well rounded collection.

Got mine Tudor (jubilee) for 6 months already, had thinking about smp300 (my previously dream watch). Tudor's bracelet destroyed Omega
I have that omega and I love it. And the Tudor is on my list
Tudor. Omega too flashy. Helium escape valve looks odd.
Though I chose the Omega, I have to agree on the helium valve.
BB41 wins, hands down :) much much better design, bracelet etc.

There is no comparison here. The Omega is by far the better model but it’s more expensive than the Tudor

Omega for the win.
These 2 aren’t really in the same class. The Tudor fan boys may try to attack.. lol jk. But seriously the Omega is an easy winner here IMO.
Omega is a different league. Significantly better. The Tudors a great choice if moneys a little tight.

Agree about the Tudor. Even though the omega needs updates it’s still the better watch than the Tudor.
Omega watches are very ugly, sadly.
