- Imagine my surprise (only a year ago) to discover that a bona fide surviving member of Bob Wills' Texas Playboys lived just a couple miles away from me. After meeting Jerry Case, learning his history, picking a little bit with him, and hearing his fascinating stories, I invited him over to the house for an interview about his career. Of course, we had to get a little picking in, as well. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
Deke Dickerson, you sir are an amazing waking, talking Encylopedia of American Music. Hearing the stories from Jerry Case is fantastic. Thank you, Deke for all that you do. I am a 76-year-old retired bass player. I worked from 1961 to 2022.
Thanks for keeping these memories and music alive, Deke. RIP Jerry.
Thank You for keeping history a live with Jerry Case !
What a wonderful way to learn about music and the man!
I enjoyed that very much ! Thank you Deke for bringing Jerry to our attention. Between you and Chris Scruggs, I've learned so much about great musicians of my younger years, and never knew who they were. Country & Country Western
Met you at Willie’s Guitar in St. Paul in August a few years ago. I didn’t know your credentials but on YT I’ve learned a lot. You are an awesome musician and like Marty Stuart, you are documenting great musicians.
Enjoyed the interview very much, thank you for putting this together.
Very cool Deke, Thank you
Man, great stories! And a couple of beautiful Epiphones!
Thanks - that was sweet.
I really enjoyed this. I could listen to Jerry some more.
Thank you for doing this! Preserving the history of the music we love!
What an excellent surprise, I can’t wait to watch it this weekend!

Cheers Frank "The Memphis Suns " Australia.
Wow, amazing he backed Joe Carson and knew the Wynn Stewart band... and backed Willie Nelson back in the day!? So cool... and I didn't even get to the Bob Wills days. Now I'm listening to you and Jerry slay on one of my Western swing favorites -- "Roly Poly!" Thank you, Deke!
Solid Gold..

Great interview!!! Jerry's guitar is a very heavily modified 1940's Epiphone Triumph.
That was wonderful!

Enjoyed that completely, Deke!
😊
That was great Deke! Thanks for putting that up. Love the modified Epi.
My old stomping grounds coming up in the business living in and around Lawton Okla, and Wichita Falls Texas. Sam Gibbs was my first booking agent. He booked me all over the midwest in the 70's. Great times both rough and ready!
incredible detail; thanks
Fantastic job Deke!
Great interview! Love to Bigsby sign too!!
Great stuff! I think Mose Rager was the thumbpick guru who all the older guys talked about.
Very cool Deke
It would be nice to hear him actually play that guitar.
7 strings in Jerry's guitar?
Hey Deke Prickerson! Sorry to hear you've condescended to think about a drummer.
The funny thing about guys like you is when you make mean-spirited comments about something as joyous as this video, all you do is expose how small you are and how jealous you are of people living their best life. Everybody sees it. So sorry buddy, I've got a fun life to live....smell you later
I doubt very much that you remember me when your overblown personality was blowing thru town. That's OK. God bless
And by the way you have always been crabby! Lighten up!@@DekeDickerson
@@richardaengberg I put together this video to honor my friend Jerry, and you shit all over it. "God Bless" you too. I don't come to your job and tip over the Slurpee machine.
Yes you have slurpeed all over my musical aspirations. More than once.@@DekeDickerson
Bad timing on me for sure. I have never met your friend. Sorry.
What's the name of the last song?
