This was such a great help!! It changed everything for me!
Trey..... you just saved my song!! After weeks of "mixing madness", I found your video and applied your suggestions, and finally my solos and melodies sound great in the mix!!! Thank you!! 🙂
When I played live, all this fancy eq-ing stuff was unkonwn to me, so I just took a step forward and hit the wrong note. That made my solos stand out best. This shows I really need this pedal...
Thanks for the great video. I use the Boss GE-7. Since this pedal in my pedalboard I can not imagine how I could exist without it before :D My solo settings are identical to yours +/- with the exception of high frequencies. Perhaps it depends on the amp and cab, at home and at rehearsals I use Peavey 6505 + Orange PPC412 and I like to remove 6.4k frequencies. The sound becomes more powerful and richer. But, when recording or playing through a sound card, the sound can be completely changed... I mean, those settings that were good for playing through an amplifier may not be as cool as when playing through the chain -> amp - sound card - impulses. And it turns out that you always learn something new :)
Well my Boss eq 200 turned up today, after a few hours, I have the best tone I’ve ever had, (and I’ve had a few) I can’t quite believe just how much this pedal has helped in finding such a brilliant sound, 10/10 I can’t recommend enough
Hi Dad, when you comin home? 14yrs to get milk is a little much.
Love your playing style and tone
thanks dawg
@@treyxaviermusic you're welcome my man

Your videos are such a huge help, thanks for the knowledge!
You are most welcome, thanks for watching!
Great video and that EQ pedal is sweet.
Great tips! You should do a slow down lesson review of that solo I thought it sounded pretty cool dude!
Good morning from Argentina! Always full of info this chanel :)
Nice, I've been looking for this sort of info for a while, thanks. I knew it was something to do with the EQ but couldn't figure what would work best. Some patches just seemed to disappear sonically so I'm going to give this a try. Does this work equally as well for less overdriven tones (crunch)? Can you follow it up with maybe an EQ for sitting back in the rhythm. Maybe for other styles of music also. Great job - I'm subscribing!
Very cool! All my pedals are Boss, and I've been fighting getting a GE-7, just going to have to break down! Can't wait to see who wins this pedal from you.
You are awesome.
Enjoyed the video. I currently use the boost switch on the incoming buffer for solos. I’ve always wanted to get some custom eq based on certain sounds and mixes. Now I know how I can eq without all the unwanted freqs!
thank you Deadpool
I like penguins, they waddle around in a little tuxedo and the do the Super Mario World belly slide for real!!
Now, that helped me a lot. Thank you so much!
Excellent video! I'm guessing this also same for lower gain guitar sounds also? And also for rhythm guitar sounds?
Hi Dad
Great vid! Thanks for the info!
😂😂😂 “it’s your dad”.... love it🤘🏻
I kick on the 5 band eq on my Mesa. But that means I have to dedicate it for that. This is a pretty amazing pedal I could actually use. I have a boost pedal but I only use it for clean leads because it does nothing for volume on high gain.
I love your videos so much
excellent video! Love videos that the teacher doesnt show off for 5 min before the vid yo!
"Anything below a hundred doesn't need to exist".
I'd disagree with that. Even in standard tuning, the lowest E sits at 82hz, which is probably something you still want to hear the fundamental of.
Well, Low cuts aren't vertical cuts, they just sort of turn down the volume from a certain point below.. so, if you cut at 100hz, 82 hz will still exist, just a bit lower in volume, but you'll get rid of sub frequencies that you totally don't need
Yeah but you don't need all those lows on lead guitar
I would argue that fundamental frequencies are less important in guitar than they are in bass.
HOW you get your boost matters too. If your boost adds gain and not just volume that will change the character of the low frequencies. Just like having to turn down the bass when raising the gain on your amp, lest it gets woofy.
Happy holidays!
really useful 🙂
Ive got a lot of knowledge from u. Thx
Which bass range or mids slider should i cut down or boost to hear upper strings to be heard when fast solos clearly?TIA
OMG I might actually win something by commenting.
Very cool vid.
Yeah, man!
thank you
7:20 Morbid Angel - Where the sizzle lives
SUper interesting video, what bugs me (not about your vid ofc) is that most of EQ pedals do not even reach a frequency above 4k...
Very usefull pedal.
So if thats where the lead guitar should sit in a mix, where does a rhythm guitar sit? EQ Settings for that?! Or no rule of thumb! Yes I'm new to engineering guitar sound!!
Any idea what Hetfield's eq is? I heard he likes a certain mgz and I wanted to ask the God of Gear if he had any idea. Love your stuff man thank you!!
Just take your mids to 1, bass neutral and max everything else.
And take the bass guitar completely out of the mix.
can you make a similar video for us detuned guitars? like a 7 string tuned to dropped g?
I’m a player who played live a lot but never really recorded anything so this maybe a silly question my tone liv sound nice and full but when I record it always sound thin even when I add layered track and harmonies, how do you make it sound more full?
Cat going nuts when the 16k got boosted (maxed out)
Nice review..
That difference, to me, is as of different guitar used. It's that much. I mean the EQ does it's work.
Now how do you dial this on a parametric EQ?
Could be work also if I wanna play leads with the bridge pickup?
Nice
You could make your solo louder…or everything else quieter! 😮
Can you PLEASE do video of Production/Recording AND PANNING of SOLOS that becomes with harmonizations in certain part, like the solos of Dragonforce. I dont understand the panning technique they uses, because is not clear when te lead solos go to Center panning and the harmonizations goes 100% L and 100% R (if they are)
Wish I could but I don’t know either haha, sorry!
@@treyxaviermusic But then, how do you do to record a solo in a song that later in a certain part of the solo, harmonizations appear?
I wish my real Dad was as handsome as you :L Sick video dude!
My go to is a slight volume raise plus a slight treble boost in the mix combined with delay and tape echo
Hey you!
The "Brown" sound is actually based on a Soldano SLO
...That is based on a Marshall
@@lovecraftmusic8717 the Slo started as a modified Mesa Mark IIb which in turn traces its lineage back to Fender
@@j_c_93 cmon be serious, all amps designed for distortion come from Marshall amps, Mesa included.
@@lovecraftmusic8717 dude, just admit you are wrong. Plus, Marshall amps all come directly from Fender Bassman
@@j_c_93 I know that, infact Marshall amps were modded bassman... So being the first to add gain stages is the reason why all the others followed Marshall.
🤘
This video makes soloing better.
That's it I'm SUBSCRIBING! Thank's for the good tip! :)
So basically boost the mids and roll off the lows.
The great equaliser.... Trey you pervert 😂
is that an obscure aussie sex position I'm not aware of
imma gonna win!
First comment 🤘🤘
I'm prepared . I'm gonna win lol
🤘👍🤘Mushi😂😂
Are these eq’s in the loop, or after the drive pedal, in front of the preamp?
The subliminal point of this video- Anything beyond a 6 or 7 band EQ is pointless
😀😀😀😀😀😀
pwer full pedal
Your guitar sounds usually give me a headache. I don’t understand
Because this lead tone sounds awful
Def first comment here
But does Uncle Ben know?
sorry but you have had the level KRANKED on the EQ in comparison! you see it on the level on the track. so it's not unity gain in comparison because of the boosted frequencys. you should have lowered the EQ level even further but therefore your dialed in sound would have sucked.
lol
ur not my dad youll never be my dad
You can't be my dad. I am 52 and you are about 18.
18 is just the age at which I discovered time travel
also I am 37 lol
First
Wtf is this video
I mean its good quality but the toans are awful
