Here is one more tip for you that I learned the hard way and it doesn't tell you in the instructions, if you skip to 0:55 you can see a little USB hub with a white connection and a blue connection on top of it. The white connection is the USB port in the armrest. What you want to do is unplug the white connection from the USB hub and plug it in directly into the Combox black port via the the little black extension cable they provide. This way you will avoid the USB hub and MULF cable altogether and the album art will load in 2 seconds instead of 13 seconds if you follow the instructions. Also, if you do it this way, you will be able to get USB Video later on from the armrest USB port which is the most insanely amazing feature that the Combox offers, watch this video to find out how - ruclips.net/video/FFdHu7GhKg8/видео.html Hope that helps!
@@bmwdiy Thanks for that information. I actually didn't buy my combox from bimmer-tech. So I've been reading different DIY from different forums but now actually seeing your video I can see it's a pretty straight forward procedure. Minus the coding of course. I bought my combox off ebay and the wiring harness PnP as well. I don't have MULF just TCU. The pain for me of course will be routing the USB port onto the armrest as my car didn't come with it. I do have a USB port but that's in the glove compartment per when I did the CIC retrofit. But I was told that usb is different 🤷♂️.
@@awdgsx415 If you are looking to just play music from a USB stick and then use Bluetooth Audio with your phone, I found another solution. You can order this USB port from Amazon that comes with a cable that connects to the Combox and you can leave the USB port in the trunk corner and have your USB stick with music in there. www.amazon.ca/Socket-Switch-Cable-Harness-Adapter/dp/B07SSBP183/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=AUX+USB+Socket+Switch&qid=1588789677&sr=8-4
@@waynemiller6694 I'm actually doing the install this up coming weekend. The install should not take long as I already pre hooked everything up but didn't install. The hard part I think will be the coding hoping my buddy can do it without any problems. Definitely will let you know when it's hooked up 👍
What you call "Power Connector" (blinking red) is not the power connector. Its just the MOST connector with light signal. Power connection is done as part of the white connector.
Hi my friend, I see that you seem to know yourself, could you tell me how to make the combox work on a cic on an e60 What should I do? Do you have the procedure to follow? Please
I am bit confused, cant find any useful info for e60 combox retrofit anywhere, and sadly you dont show the finished retrofit either from the trunk, i have cic retrofited with usb/aux and bluetooth phone pairing, so i have both tcu and mulf, now seeing that short plugandplay harness for the mulf, i am guessing you relocated the mulf harness (with the blue plug?) From the "spare tire" location next to the new combox so it would reach? Or you had to relocate mulf entirely? If so how? Thanks!
hello man , i have CIC navigation as you have on your car, I want to work only via USB video, without phone, can you help me tell me exactly what i need, because you put more links in the video and I don't know what to buy , thank you
You need the COMBOX first which gives you the ability to connect iPhone to USB port in the armrest and see the album art + Bluetooth Audio. USB Video will only work with the iPhone 4/4S since it has VIDEO OUT from the 30-pin connection. Follow this video, the links for the parts are in the description -> ruclips.net/video/FFdHu7GhKg8/видео.html
BN2000 is the Combox Telematik which includes BMW Assist in addition to Bluetooth audio, full iPhone USB connectivity and text messages in the IDrive. BN2010 is the Combox Media which does not include BMW Assist. I would go with BN2000 if you can. The one I got from BimmerTech is BN2000.
The flashing red light is the fibre optic connection for data.
Great video man I'm in the middle of installing a combox on my M5. This video really helps.

How did u change build date to bmw e60 to make combox show up because the e60 build never had combox?

Hello brother does all the e60 has mulf unit? I have 2003 mask edition 🥲

How is the audio quality through the BT?
Incredible, it sounds even better than USB
Will it be able to play music from a usb drive from the glove box?
You can already do that with just the CIC Idrive.
