    Hi everyone and welcome to another Bimmer Fixer video.
    In this video I will show you an awesome little Bluetooth Audio RetroFit that doesn’t mean removing the head unit or any of the trim on the dash. It’s a great easy way to have music playing from your phone in your e60 and e61.
    UPDATE....As of April 5th 2022 all UK stoke has sold out of the adapter that i used in the video. This means you guys are doing a great job and carrying out this DIY! I have found another supplier for this adapter and it's only a couple of pounds more £20 the link is below.

    I just got my module in today and put it in. This unit works special thanks to The Bimmer Fixer! I read some old comments saying that the sound was low. That’s wasn’t the case for me sound was loud and clear just as if my radio was playing. There was no static noise coming in whatsoever… After installing it I put my key in just to test it out and I didn’t get a blue flashing light from the module. Once I started the car the module came on. Quick note just remember that the module will not work if the car isn’t started up and the engine is running.

    Not to good with soldering so I cut the cables and through crimped them... works an absolute treat and the sound is really load as it doesn't go through the aux board...

    Great video !! I wound up cutting a little further back from the connector and after stripping down the speaker wires, couldn’t find the black wire only the white and red wires. I figured the black wire had to be a combination of the copper wires insulating the two and attached to the clear (mine was black) wire and it worked without issue.
    It works well, but definitely not as loud as connecting directly to the Aux. I think I would have opted for a direct plug in type Fm transmitter instead though.

    Hi there, let me share cable pairing for LCI and BT adapter with the red, yellow and white audio outputs:
    BT:CAR
    Red:Red
    Yellow:Blue
    White:Brown.
    Firstly I followed pairing from different comment, sound worked but Balance fader did not worked correctly.
    Power cables mapping is the same as shown in the video.
    Works for BT adapter like Jie Rui bt-5908. Costs 5€ with shipping lol.

      Since BT adapter is version 5.0, it can be connected to your phone at the same time as your car's BT. So you can simultaneusly use BT adapter for music and car BT for doing calls. You have to specify in your smarphone settings to not use BT adapter for calls, only for audio.

    I'm considering to get USB port connected the similar way, but using CD changer's wires in order to keep operation on the BMW screen (I prefer this instead of messing with my phone to select music from). Would it work as mp3/wma player (the main CD slot does eventually)? Because I only found adaptors advertised as "charging ports", but that's not my target. Plug & Play transmitters sound awful, I tried 4 different manufacturers.

    • @TheBimmerFixer
      @TheBimmerFixer  Год назад

      @Tomas Toth Hi Tomas. I like your thinking! It could possibly work, I know there are fiber optics cables involved that could be a potential hurdle. That said with the right usd port and splicing into the correct part of the loom it could work.

      @TheBimmerFixer  2 года назад +2

      @Adrian Hejducki... Hello mate thank you for the comment and great question. This was something I worried about myself after I fitted the adapter. So what I found happens is that when I listen to music through the new adapter and I get a call I sometimes have to answer it with the dial in the center console instead of the steeling wheel button but that's only happened twice out of 20 or so times all the other times I just answer it as normal by the steering wheel button. The call comes through to all speakers as normal and the person on the phone can hear you talking perfectly so the car mic must still be working too. I have a Samsung but I wouldnt see it being any different with an IPhone if thats what you have. Hope this help mate 👍🏻

      #spooky1000 so one thing you can do is fit and adapter to the back of the head unit and this will give you an aux socket it will also automatically program the idrive so you have it as an option on the screen. Then you could fit the Bluetooth adapter like mine at the back of the head unit too. You tap into the power at the back of the head unit instead on a lighter socket. There is videos on RUclips of 2 guys fitting the aux adapter and another video of a guy tapping into the power at the back of the head unit. If you have anymore questions just let me know 👍🏻

      @@TheBimmerFixer There is a resistor wired into the aux socket which limits the volume. You can desolder it on the green board where the aux socket is mounted. However, the bluetooth devices seem to have some amplification built in which combats this a bit, but the only way to fix it is to remove the resistors by desoldering. The guy with the blue e60 estate on youtube shows you how.

    Mine is driving me insane, it's doing this hissing sound when AUX is selected in idrive, took the entire car apart, I don't know if something is wrong in the headunit or the aux female board itself is causing the static, doesn't matter if a cable is plugged in, hissing is still there, the higher the volume, the louder the hissing/static sound, if I mute the car it goes away as well, if I switch to radio it's gone as well, so I narrowed it down to either something being wrong with the headunit, which I wouldn't be surprised as mine is the crap basic headunit M-ASK 2 since the car is a 08 LCI model and used to have a small screen until I switched it with a android NBT EVO ID5 Clone. Still though, it's driving me insane, no matter how much I try to modify and love the car it's always something, somewhere not working right, tried this bluetooth adapter thingy, same outcome, the only thing left is either change the entire headunit and code CIC which I honestly don't want to do and change the female port with board as well or active the USB function, I'll probably do that since USB doesn't carry noise like aux jacks do. And to top it off I installed 160W tweeters with an amp and 500w subwoofer and the sound is sublime now... Until there's a pause in the song and you hear the static that is always present and makes you wanna burn the car down. Oh well. Hope the USB thingy will give me a workaround.

    The only problem doing this is by using the stock aux you don't get full sound because BMW put resistors in the AUX plug itself that limits both volume and bass. You are much better off installing this straight in the back of the head unit. Add a phillips head screwdriver to the tools he is using and you are good to go. It won't take you but maybe 15 minutes longer to install into the CD port of the head unit where this was designed to go and the sound quality is 100 times better!

      Ok this this is comon on the earlier e60 the mechanism in the latch is stuck. So firstly from inside and holding the door hand in the open position you need to bang the door panel halfway down towards the edge of the door this with a bit of luck release the latch. Give this a go first because the alternative is quite full on.
