A really nice job and very well explained. Top work 👍
@sixcylinders Thank you for your comment! Really appreciate it!
Great vid mate loved the soaking paper method realy good oh instead of warming can with torch heat place in hot water I do that with plasti dip works great
@bluerineim B Thank you mate appreciate it 👍🏻. That's a great idea, not everyone has a heat gun so that means they can still do this with out one 😀
Nice1 will definitely be doing this, great video
@stat1865 Hi there, thank you for your comment! Funnily enough I have just done my mates e60 too 😂
Picking up a 520d tourer next week, immediately got bugged when I saw the steering wheel, needs antenna looking into and it's on 11000 miles no ready for timing chain, sure will be plenty of other little jobs to sort out
@stat1865 Thats awesome! Yeah I know what you mean it bugs the hell out of you doesn't it! Yeah, im sure there will be a few bits to get your teeth into. If you need anything let me know, happy to help 👍🏻

I do want to change the chrome bonnet grills to black thinking of painting them,
Appreciate the help 👍
Nice result! Obviously the M badge was not removed/damaged by the solvent fluid?
@Gert Baas Thank you buddy! Yes you're absolutely right it was fine and didn't come lose or fade.
Really nice job, came here from your e90 vid, mine is due now as I’m tired of trying to peel the least amount off of the raised bits in some vein attempt to deny it really needs doing 😬 can you tell me how that paint compares to the rest of the trim though, ie I have the same coating on my centre console around my I drive control wheel..
Hi Robert, thank you for your comment I really appreciate it! Do you mean in terms of colour matching? So if you painted the steering wheel trim how it would look against the other bits of original trim in the car?
@@TheBimmerFixer Hi there, it’s my pleasure, thanks for replying, yes that’s exactly what I mean.
@Robert S Ok well I would say the colour is a good match especially if the trim isn't directly next to the other pieces of trim. But this paint does give you a slightly different texture, the paint has a rougher feel to it just incase that would bug you.
@@TheBimmerFixer It probably would bug me actually but I’m quite keen on a slightly rougher texture and the concept of driving without the anxiety of scratching it with the slightest pass of a finger nail, I’ll probably just do the centre console as well anyway because it has a couple of light scratches on it that are starting to catch my eye..
Why are you using high temp paint on interior trim, vs a regular semi gloss? Just curious.
@Wankers On Whisky Good question it's because I found it to to be harder wearing and didn't mark as much as standard paint.
🎉
Do I need to disconnect the battery for this? Don’t mind doing that but hope we don’t have to
@Rob Isaac Hi Rob you can do if you feel happier but I didn't for this 👍🏻
definitely DO disconect the battery and let it sit for at least 20 minutes because of airbags having condensators so its hold charge even with disconected battery for some time. If you do not disconect the batery you can acidentaly knock them loose and I thing that would be more troubles then disconecting a battery. better be sure then sorry
Do you use stove paint because it sticks better? I used plastic trim paint, did all the proper prep, it looked fantastic for like a month. Then it started to peel off again.
@Oldguynotbald Hi, yeah I found it to be really hard wearing and it doesn't go sorft if the temperature in the car get high.
@@TheBimmerFixer great point! Thank you, I will give it a shot
@Oldguynotbald No problem! Happy to help. 👍🏻
Hello, i have a problem with my e60, the climate controll only blows air through the vents in the middle of the car, on the middle of the dashboard, and in the back of center consoll towards the backseats) not on the sides on the dash or in front of the dash. Do you know what can be the problem?
@Robbyjurs87 Hi Robby, that could be one of two things. The first sounds like it could be a problem with the vent direction blades on the blower box or it could be the dash controls themselves. The blower box is a real pain to get too so checking the fuses and electrical connections first would be a good start before having to get to the blower box. I think you can change the individual motors on the directional blade on the blower box or you can change the whole blower unit for about £50 from ebay. Hope this helps a little if you get stuck let me know and I will try my best to help you out 👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer Thanks alot man, i have also thought it might be the controls themselves. Im gonna check the fuses and then change the controll panel and hope that works then. Hope its not the fan itself thats the problem, but it does blow air, just not from all the vents, so i dont think its the fan motor itself thats the problem.
@Robbyjurs87 You're welcome mate! I think you're right and it will be a fuse or the controls. Good luck 👍🏻 keep me posted.
how much time i need to wait between coats?
@Andrei G It can depend on the different paints and manufacturers and the environment you're paintimg but a good estimate is 15 to 30 minutes but if you use a heat gun and use is to gently dry the paint you'll be ready within a couple of minutes. This is what I do 👍🏻
Is that nail varnish remover????
@Breen Lynch Sure is, works a treat. 👌
Thank you very much I will try this just got
A bmw 1 series msport my steering wheels has peel on it drives me crazy 😅
@Breen Lynch You're very welcome. Yeah i know what you mean its horrible. Just be sure to check it after 3 or 4 minutes and not to leave it on there too long 👍🏻
Still i cant open and why you all skip the video and its close already
What is that blue? That peal off that?
Hi BK detailing thanks for the comment, sorry what do you mean?
@@TheBimmerFixer What liquid u used to remove the trim paint
@Dze # I used finger nail varnish remover. Just don't leave it on for too long check on it after 3 minutes that should be about long enough 👍🏻
@@TheBimmerFixer Thanks for the fast reply and keep up the good work ❤️
@Dze # you're very welcome good luck with the trim restoration. Thank you 👍🏻 😊
If u restoring it, then peel off that logo and apply new :D
the acetone soak made a total mess and ruined the piece. the toilet paper stuck to the piece and the rubberized coating melted onto the piece hard as plastic. total fail
@rsmartin1961 Sorry to hear that! How long did it soak for?
@@TheBimmerFixer about 2-3 minutes. turned into a gooey mess. so soaked another couple minutes and the paper was still stuck and the coating got harder and shiny as if it melted. This is the window switch cover by the way, not the steering wheel. it's a '08 650i convertible
@rsmartin1961 Jeez, never know it to do that 🤔 I wonder what caused that sort of reaction. I take it that its the original BMW coating on it and a previous owner hasn't painted it with anything,
@@TheBimmerFixer appears original. had lots of scratches from long fingernails. i assume previous owner was a woman.
i'm going to clean it up best i can and then try to cover it with carbon fiber film which i did to the aluminum trim pieces as i didn't like the bright aluminum. i'also do the carbon fiber treatment to the steering wheel trim as well
@rsmartin1961 Great idea! That should hopefully cover better after the reaction. Let me know how it goes 🤞🏻👍🏻
