90s hip hop was the beautiful struggle, when our parents were going thru their own problems hip hop was there for me I was able to relate with my favorite artist.
I'm old -- nearly 67 -- so I was checking out the tech and the cars. It's interesting how they combined present-day things like the pee-stick pregnancy test with cars from the late 70s and similar tech. The DJ booth had precisely zero digital equipment -- none! One hundred percent old school electronics, including a reel-to-reel recorder (probably TEAC). The phone booth and corded home phone were nifty touches. And yeah, there are a few old ladies who have actually listened to urban music, and I've begun to enjoy it a lot.
I love how these guys stuck with the oldschool vibe. I know plenty rappers that only made 2 albums I loved but then they moved on, like most people in the genre, to Electronic music with Rap yet they call it Hiphop. If you ask me, thís is hiphop.
This platter is FANTASTIC. I initially bought the instrumental version and totally enjoyed it, then got the sung copy and it's definitely a fuckin' killer album. One of the most underrated groups
