They are "The Wu-Tang of the West" But remember the West coast THE BEST COAST. HIEROGLYPHICS/SOULS OF MISCHIEF are the best group ever imo, wordsmiths, Lyrical geniuses, and changed the way people rapped. The multi's, thought pattern, and rhyme scheme was something special. This is proof ruclips.net/video/58a5fzh0tJo/видео.html Eminem and Andre 3000 were influenced by Hiero and says they are "RAPPERS RAPPERS" The world needs a JUICE CREW, WUTANG, HIEROGLYPHICS reunion/celebration of hip-hop!! Real hip hop. Those 3 crews arguably defined the golden age of hip hop. Hieroglyphics crew is best imo though. 93' Til Infinity, 3rd Eye Vision, and Trilogy.... Those 3 albums are better than any 3 and other crew can assemble. Add Full Circle and its a wrap. Souls of Mischief/Hieroglyphics flows were sacred writings. Thats what Hieroglyphics means: sacred writings. 93' Til Infinity - ruclips.net/video/fXJc2NYwHjw/видео.html Make Your Mind Up - ruclips.net/video/OYGYEn3K-CA/видео.html You Never Knew - ruclips.net/video/k729U5AMIKI/видео.html Mics Of The Round Table - ruclips.net/video/lSCSApoXc3Q/видео.html What A Way To Go Out - ruclips.net/video/Y_3OHvY16qo/видео.html And that's only 5 of my fav tracks of their.... they have DOZENS of songs better than most rappers/crews BEST. Also... History lesson: HIEROGLYPHICS/SOUL OF MISCHIEF WENT INDEPENDENT once Jive records wanted to drop them. Jive Records never gives the artist publishing rights but SOULS/HIERO put their foot down and kept em. A HUGE DEAL BACK THEN... everyone was like HOW DID THEY GET JIVE TO LET THEM KEEP THEIR SHIT??. one of the reasons JIVE dumped them later on. SOULS is smart owning their own work. HEIRO/SOM are imo the best rap group ever (yes better than WU-TANG who are 2nd..) Labels needed HIERO more than they needed JIVE. DEL, Tajai, Opio, PhestoDee, Casual, Pep Love, and A-Plus went independent and have been going strong ever since. 20+ years. 93' TIL INFINITY! Like NAS said in 2006... HIP HIP...hip hop... IS DEAD" It died in 99' with BIG L but was put out of its misery in 2004 with O.D.B.
Something people don't praise enough is all of the different backgrounds these guys are in. You don't usually see men like us in these outdoor surroundings in music videos, and I really appreciated seeing other black men surrounded by the beautiful California landscape with mountains, valleys, and beaches just chilling.
In '93 gangsta was not crowned king yet. I come back to this video just to get a glimpse of the different outdoor settings. Yosemite, Pinnacles, and maybe the Sonoma Coast, amongst idea? Im on the other side of the world now, but this video always brings me back home.
@@gogogadget23 WTF you talking about?! 🤣 I'm guessing you too young for this? Gangsta rap had been huge since the mid to late 80's but this ain't rap, this is Hip Hop at it's best
Dude the whole aesthetic of this song and video captured the 90s in a way that makes a lump in your throat if you were there. The cartoons. Malls. Super soakers. No ones face buried in an iPhone. Sunshine literally seemed more genuinely bright and consuming back then. Like the freshness of them being at a national park on a sunny day just captures it all and matches the beat so well.
I was a junior in high school in the spring of 1993. This was our homecoming theme. I get teary eyed when I hear this song. This represents all of me, in 1993.
I was 13 and did graffity on trains in 93, still remember walking in the streets headphones on and listening that track while I organized my next train bombing, just like hip hop has to be. This track is the infinitive of hip hop
A flagship of West Coast Hip Hop. The groove, Oakland, the beach, the trees...Heal yourself Oaktown. We miss the old you pre-pandemic. You were never perfect, but will always be beautiful. Your roots are still strong. 🌳
@@seismicvertigo345 Aww, man. It's a sad thing. Oakland's community went underground. It used to be super present, and despite some of the tougher neighborhoods, it had a great vibe and night life. Many of the stores didn't reopen and stayed boarded up. Someone I know pulled over just to take their phone out of their pocket and within seconds and SUV tried to car jack them and shot them (they survived). Just not the same.
Yes The early 90s time when it didn't matter which coast hip hop music was coming from. From Too Short & Hi C to Ghetto Boyz and D.O.C & Rakim to Public Enemy. There was no discrimination where you were from. East coast all my life too.
@@JamesLerem Yeah, man. The coast beef always disappointed me. I always thought it was dumb to take a marginalized genre (at the time) and then divide it over some stupid territorial b.s. The artists we lost could have done so much amazing work together playing off each others influences (and made bank doing it).
I'm 35, been feeling super reminiscent of the 90s. Been feeling sad, cuz I can't feel like I felt back then. But today, I was playing this song as my 1+ year old was playing with me in the back yard, and I felt like I felt back then. The sun was warm again.
Yea bruh I'm shedding tears of gratitude that I was able to be in the greatest decade ever RIP to my grandfather grandmother uncle ernest and my my homeboy Darrell all that happened in the 90s but it was a rollercoaster I never wanted to get off . Shout out to all the 80s babies who were able to enjoy this. Man o man I miss my childhood
The beat is dope and really helps to escape the noise of reality. On the real though, we are sadly witnessing the death of novelty or anything genuine which came from strife or fueled real artwork like this. The internet has and will, only replicate prototypes of human creations and simulate the experiences we once genuinely shared in person without technological/frequency barriers... I know it sounds crazy, see "going viral" and other phenomena. Nobody wants to admit to the death of creativity or the imagination. Anyway, this type of nostalgia is the last emotional connection humanity will ever have to their past, in the near future as AI and quantum tech begins to merge together... as we become less human with each decade
At a time when all hip hop videos were shot in an urban setting, Souls of Mischief shoot their video in a natural setting ... wonderful concept and cinematography
It cures the depression but it makes me so bittersweetly nostalgic I almost get tears in my eyes. My uncle was 3 years older than me, and he introduced me to so much of this music. He was the coolest person in my world.

@@days5345 I think it's a very good signing. Yes he has had a below par season for his own standards, but I think he'll still be worth the money although I think £65m is a bit much. He is similar to Alonso in a attacking sense, is faster and imo can defend better than Alonso. Lampard is a manager who probably values attack more than defence and a combination of him and Pulisic on that left side will be deadly. I reckon he'll end the season with 6 goals and 9 assists while putting in a decent defensive showing. One thing is for sure, he's an upgrade on what we've got at the moment.
These guys put out a timeless classic. The lyrics, the beat, the vibe. Everything is picture perfect. Every time I hear this, I’m instantly reminded of being on the beach at sunset with the boys after an absolutely wild day. Everyone’s sitting around a fire just relaxing, smiling and laughing; passing around a bottle of something tasty, and swapping hilarious “remember whens”. Memories from ages ago, but seem like yesterday… The kind you’ll never forget…

I turned 47 years old on my birthday today. I recorded and listened to this song with MTV on cassette tape when I was 17 years old. It's a good memory that I worked part-time at a used vinyl when I was 19 years old and bought it for 6000 yen. Now, when I want to reset my bad feelings and return to my heart like a boy, I sometimes come here to listen to it. Young people, don't be pessimistic about the present. Because it has become a much more convenient world than in those days. From a Japanese uncle.
My 10 year old son heard this on NBA 2k18 and bangs it like every day. He said "Dad this is fire" , amazing this came out when I was 13 and caught the ear of someone born in 2010.

The world needs a JUICE CREW, WUTANG, HIEROGLYPHICS reunion/celebration of hip-hop!!

And that's only 5 of my fav tracks of their.... they have DOZENS of songs better than most rappers/crews BEST.
Also...
History lesson:
HIEROGLYPHICS/SOUL OF MISCHIEF WENT INDEPENDENT once Jive records wanted to drop them. HEIRO/SOM are imo the best rap group ever (yes better than WU-TANG who are 2nd..)
Labels needed HIERO more than they needed JIVE. DEL, Tajai, Opio, PhestoDee, Casual, Pep Love, and A-Plus went independent and have been going strong ever since. 20+ years. 93' TIL INFINITY!

A flagship of West Coast Hip Hop. The groove, Oakland, the beach, the trees...Heal yourself Oaktown. We miss the old you pre-pandemic. You were never perfect, but will always be beautiful. Your roots are still strong. 🌳
What happened after the pandemic? Asking from the east coast
@@goober8798 oh wow

Nothing like the 90s. Greatest decade
Feel like it was the last ‘natural’ decade. We weren’t weird tech hybrid humans yet. Yuk. It hurts
I'm 20 I'd like to experience that era
If you came of age in the 90s, you were a part of a golden time. This was the best time to be a teenager.
:) and it just gives you that nice feeling. :)

@@shaun1364 what are your opinions on a possible ben chilwell signing?
@@days5345 I think it's a very good signing. Yes he has had a below par season for his own standards, but I think he'll still be worth the money although I think £65m is a bit much. He is similar to Alonso in a attacking sense, is faster and imo can defend better than Alonso. Lampard is a manager who probably values attack more than defence and a combination of him and Pulisic on that left side will be deadly. I reckon he'll end the season with 6 goals and 9 assists while putting in a decent defensive showing. One thing is for sure, he's an upgrade on what we've got at the moment.
@@shaun1364 agreed, need to hope we can negotiate a lower price. quality player with a lot of potential to grow under the management of lampard.
