    Dr. Dre is a genius, but let's not forget the co-producer talents from Yella, Arabian Prince, Cold 187um, Laylaw, Colin Wolfe, Sam Sneed, Chris The Glove Taylor, Daz Dillinger, Warren G, Mel-Man, Bud'da, Stu-B-Doo, etc.

    The jawns he did for Michel'Le put Dre in a different category. At the time, it was hard to fathom the same dude who did "Gangsta Gangsta" also did "Something in my heart." Both brilliant but on totally opposite ends of the spectrum. Dre is a talented dude, man!

    Man it sucks that in the Doggystyle booklet, it listed Dr. Dre and Ice Cube dropping an album called Heltah Skeltah. I really believe Natural Born Killaz was meant for that.

      Sorry but it’s Quik and Battlecat. They didn’t just buy & hire out other producers & musicians for 90% of their biggest stuff like Dre (who then of course loves to take all the credit despite putting in 10% of the creativity)

      I don’t think that’s accurate. I had this CD and don’t remember him in the liner notes with production credits for that song.

      @@islandbee It's true. The whole album was produced by Dr. Dre & Yella with Arabian Prince co-producing some of the songs.

      He didn’t, it was originally produced by The LA Dream Team. Then they signed to Ruthless and re-released it with Dre on the remix.

      He didn't! Arabian Prince did...and that's who the royaltty check from the "SONIC movie soundtrack" goes to.... this is inaccurate as hell...most of it is missing...and the wreckin' crew records were mostly team efforts, and a lot of the first WCWC album was done by daniel sofer anyway....how do i know? for once I got most the actual records he was part of in this era...believe me, there's SO much more...! and...i know arab in person...

    i have a really hard time believing dre produced the entire above the law album. cold 187 part of that group was a huge part of pioneering the g funk sound that dre took and polished.

      He is credited with producing the entire album with ATL. So ya both right :) But Never Missin' a Beat from ATL was really cool and you can see Cold 187 def had his hand in making G Funk.

      "Producing" in hip hop also consists of arranging, it isn't just selecting the samples and programming the beats. It's also about deciding which vocal takes are the best ones, and pushing and coaching the artists until you get the results you desire for a particular song, then putting it all together into finished songs. So in that light, I still kind of agree that he probably had input from the group, especially Big 187.

    1:09 haha Alonzo was right, Ice Cube was basically doing his best Beastie Boys impersonation, but yet he will cite them as an influence. He always says Ice T and Schoolly D instead. Dr. Dre also sampled Beastie Boys quite a few times in the early days and used the same samples they would use.
