Here's a short video showing off some of the amazing original samples by Dr Dre or on tracks where he is a featured artist. There's some really great samples on here from some massive hits.
#DrDre #Samples #HipHop
All Dre beats BANG, NO matter what type of speakers they coming through.
How can you call those his beats when he sampled them?
@@darrylnelson05 Most hip hop beats use samples and that's what we like about them. They have their own charm and 'punch'.
@@Dog-999i he rarely does anything creative with his samples though, they're mostly replays and half of the beats he's "known" for have scott storch written all over them. i don't get why he's in most people's top 10 when it comes to producers. kanye, no i.d., hi tek and havoc are way better in my opinion.
Dre say he mix it that way so it sound good from transistor radio to car with 18's in the trunk.
@@outwoodyapecker If he rarely did anything creative you really think he would be as big as he is
The 70's such a good decade to find samples !
Now the Gwen Stefani collab makes sense 😮
Samples are so perfect and are masterpieces on their own
Dre ripped 1:1 so poor 🤣
@@HiGradeSoundSystem dre is top notch. A good producer knows how to compliment the sample with their sound selection. Dre is Top 5 imo and his mixing game is impeccable as well as stylish ⚡️
toppa floppa, Dre sucks, so poor sampled every track is more a rip off
@@HiGradeSoundSystem he worth 800million now lol keep crying jealos
not a talent.... a poor thief
For me 'Dr Dre 2001' was one of the most important albums of my younger years. Brings back amazing memories from my teens.
For someone prolly right around a decade older than yourself, Da Chronic had exactly the same impact for me.
The Chronic is one of the most important albums in Hip Hop, period.
It was the peak album of hip hop in general...
AS SOMEONE WHO IS ALMOST 60 NOW,LET ME SAY THAT DR.DRE IS A MASTER AT THIS SAMPLIN THANG.HE CAN TAKE AN OBSCURE SONG AND TURN IT INTO A MASTERPIECE.THAT TAKES NOT ONLY TALENT,BUT NUTS AND GUTS 2.THANKS DRE AND I HOPE THE BEATS AND SAMPLES KEEP COMING AS ME AND YOU GET OLDER MAN.
You're definitely nearly 60, the 'all caps' give it away lol. I agree Dre is a hip hop masterclass of course but I have a larger respect for original creations than mixing samples, I think that the majority of an album should come directly from the person or group. That being said I grew up on Dre and he's still one of my all time favourites 🙂
DRE's production is so overrated, he basically just slaps a beat over a long sample. ZERO CREATIVITY.
@@motogp9253 Nah that "Let me Ride" he literally REPLAYED EVERYTHING, even the vocals of the Parliments track. That is not a easy thing to do. He doesn't actually use the "Original" sample until the end of the beat.
He uses 2 different tracks. The main part is from Mothership Connection but the vocals at the end are from Swing Down Sweet Chariot. Both by Parliament
@@jordangayle7794 MY AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHY I TYPE IN CAPITAL LETTERS JACKASS.I JUST TO PREFER TO TYPE THAT WAY ALL THE TIME.GET OUT OF MY BUSINESS AND GET SOME OF YOUR OWN SUCKA.
Mind well and truly blown: never in a million years did I think _Forget about Dre_ sampled a song from _Tragic Kingdom._
That blew my mind too!
To have the technical talent to sample all of these gems is beyond me. Shows Dre is a true student of all music genres.
I miss those days….. Dr Dre had the ear for those old classics. The songs he grew up listening to. Now that was the Era of music. Originality by Pioneers. They say history repeats it’s self I don’t think anyone told that to mumble rap.
You just listen to the wrong people
@@acepacific1004 could you tell me the right people
@@scorpionxp139 bishop nehru, denzel curry, cyhi, idk. I don't know what kind of style you into. They all have something that came out this year though.
@@scorpionxp139 Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Larry June, Schoolboy Q, Vince Staples, Nipsey, Kanye West, Remble, and Juice Wrld
Mumble rap is kind of history repeating itself in a way. Remember Mase, Puffy, Fabulous, Clipse? LOL
The obscruity and different languages of the original tracks shows how much work DRE put into his work.
The chronic was and will always be a banging album 🔥
Quality music bangs forever.
Hell yeah
Guess this is the OG section of the comments😂
Wow! Forgot about Dre came from a No Doubt song?! That’s wild
Just that part of it but yes
What I get is that Dre's appreciating funk, soul and jazz.
He brought the most out of each sample. Brilliant!
What you talking 'bout? It's just straight jacking...
You obviously don’t understand it then. Those samples would have zero life, grit, and soul to them. You would never think about rapping to them. He made those samples hit the way they do, and now they are HIP HOP classic beats.
@@ehailey09 LOL. It's a straight jack by a man with limited talents. It's no wonder that his rhymes are also written for him and Beats by Dre was someone else's innovation.
(And if you don't know, there's this thing call sample buying, where no name dudes spend all day searching through crates only to present what they find for Dre to take the credit. LOL)
@@kernalbert4939 lol I agree
@@kernalbert4939 dont try argue with people like this bro, they obviously no musicians. A real musician know that it takes zero effort to flip samples like dre did. Dre was just the first major producer that flipped those and thats why its so successful. Listen for example to havocs beats from mobb deep. This is a true artist that really flipped samples and digged deep.
The no doubt sample in Forgot About DRE is tripping me out
Me too
Dre is a master at his craft, I like the wide range of music he samples from too.. I bet his record collection looks crazy, you can see some of it in the booklet for the 2001 album, but I bet all his collection all together Is something else
Definitely
A generation of music threw flips 9f decades of music .. gratitude
Dre doesn't get the credit he deserves as a sampler. The fact that he was able to have such a consistent and identifiable sound while drawing samples from such a wide array of sources is brilliant.
the way Lyrical Gangbang drums smack on that snare sorta reminds me of that trippy drum snare in the 1st "Gangsta Rap" artist/song Schooly D-"PSK" when you're in a car that has a system and you hear those drums....it trips you out and you can feel it in your body!! fire production from the original samples to the rap beats that flips one small good part into a full song/beat!
Schooly D is so good
I’m pretty sure that drum sample is from Led Zeppelin - when the levee breaks
Drum beat is from Led Zeppelin, When the levee breaks is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs
I didn't knew Dr.Dre sampled No Doubt. That is is CRAZY!!!!
Soooo many classics samples by Dre. Some of his best samples were with NWA.
Man I bumped '01 back in my late teens. Great album.
Em was fire on that track too. I think he wrote that song for Dre.
Thank you for posting this. only inspires me to start sampling music myself
Glad you like it. Thanks for watching
Lyrical Gangbang. One of the hardest beats and tracks ever to be written and spit to. Growin' Up in the Hood and that Juru the Damaga, Juice, Nibgaz 4 Life , Wicked, these are the beast beats to go HAM on.
It’s also sampled from "When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin
Yep. I tend not to list drums unless I’m doing a breakdown of a full album.
I'm here thank God but....I never thought I'd get this old. I'm jamming shit from 30 and 40 years ago and these 20 year olds like who's this I haven't heard yet I'm like this came out in 92 or 94 or 88 and they like damn I'm missing out
For all the kids in the comments that don't understand. Sampling is a cornerstone of hip.hop. The emphasis is on the lyrics. Early hip hop was literally MCs rapping over a beat from another track. We have failed y'all 🤦🏿♀️
It evolved into different forms from live instruments to music made in a DAW.
Not all the kids in the comments will get it but the ones who do Get IT... that's all that matters
Sampling has remained a musical constant in Hip-hop. We (well Black Americans the culture it arrived from, along with Black Jamaicans Americans ofc) Definitely know what it is.
Also they rapped over niggas beatboxing as well.
@@quincy9908 why do you have to bring race when we are talking sampling 💀
Stop it bro! Yes it started that way but a lot of other producers came up with original melodies. Dre basically copies and paste and bass! He’s just like Fluffy! They literally carbon copy a whole track put new words and act like they gave you something organic and original! Then walk around like there these super producers! It’s sad!
Dr. Dre has a great taste in music!🎵👏🏽
3:19 instantly think of when we meet Dre in the movie Straight Outta Compton
Definitely
that no doubt sample flipped me....wow....
i was 13 when the chronic came out i got in tape then a Cd i always lisend to all the album in all my high school years and i still do
Nice
You got to give Mail Man who worked with Dre credit too he found a lot of those samples for Dre
I was 12 I listened forgot about dre that's was sick and classic
big up dre for finding these samples, some european belters in here... 2001 was the best album ever! scotland respresent
Dr.Dre a Legend 💯
Good video man👍🏾 Dr DRE is the greatest Hip Hop of all times
Glad you like it
Damn, some of these are subtle as hell, especially that No Doubt one.
Yeah definitely
Effing mind blown. I thought he composed everything himself. That's cool.
Most of his stuff is sampled or replayed to sound like the original.
😂 when I looked in the credits I was Pissed when I realized he had people helping with every beat and they all are samples
No producer works completely alone bruh
They used akai mpc or sp1200
That's happen when non musicians want to make music: they steal.
He created another song from the Leon Haywood sample. The Wash feat Snoop Dogg used that sample too.
So glad I just found this channel!!!
Thanks for watching

👍
Hearing just lets you know how sick the original artists were, sheeesh!
"Lyrical Gangbang" drums are from Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks"
Yeah I only included the main samples for this video. I’ve done full album breakdowns where I’ve listed drums as well
@@DJFurio I hear you. I just wanted to put it out there. Great channel

Genio musical, alguien que escuchaba sus vinilos recostado en el suelo, inspirándose, simplemente, genio.
Has a crazy ear for samples.
If I could go back in time would luv to be in west coast when this album came out. The weed
Man I love this. I'm a big 9th Wonder, J Dilla fan and didn't know Dre was at that level of sampling.
See what I am confused about is that most of the samples on here sounded pretty 1 for 1... I'm not saying that he didn't do a good job at them and that they didn't make the most of the sample but I was expecting like the European microsample where you can't tell where anything came from.
Am I wrong to compare that hip hop sampling to European style?
@@PACKERMAN2077 you spot on
Listen to the N w A ...albums
G funk for life
Sample at 3:01 was also used in Mc eiht’s “can’t see me”
dre is a fucking genius to make a rap songs from those samples
I’m still playing the cd!!!!!!!
Yep, New that most of his hits if not all were samples...like most rap hits... But when it's done with such quality...let's enjoy
That roy Ayers 🔥🔥
Halloween hype!!
That firm track was blazin'
AZ on the 🎤 🎙
East NY I see you. Whut up Doc!
Phone Tap is one of his dopest beats. I had no idea that was a sample.
He replayed everything buddy
The dayz of wayback is one of his best beats, always loved that ohio players sample
Thank you for all your videos Fuego🔥🔥🔥✌🏽
Thanks for watching
Didn't expect this video to be so interesting
Glad you like it
Hands down one of two of the best pieces of music I've ever heard from HIPHOP. Let Me Ride and Steady Mobbin'. These have an energy that just isn't matched even by many of the greatest beats and songs out there. I would say Eazier Said Then Dunn, Ain't Nuthin But A G Thang - it may be more, but I dunn went through Biggie, Pac, Busta, Tribe, NWA, Ren, Jay, Nas, and more and I just can't think of anything that got me than these two songs.
They are individual anthems to the person spittin it in a way. It's just him saying who he is and what it is. Maybe Regulator, but I'm at an end after that.
What do you think?
Are u talking Ice Cubes Steady Mobbin?
@@ejayemike6541 Yeah. D.O.Cs It's Gettin Funky might be another... I just can't think of anything that rides like these two song man.
Jiren Sentry Oh ok just checking cause I love that song too it's like a 90s anthem for LA I feel like it makes u feel like wanting to be in the 90s again and most people think of It Was A Good Day as Cubes anthem but I personally think Steady Mobbin is the unofficial Cube anthem.
No one can touch Dre when it comes to sampling. I’m a soul boy, 62 years old… picked up on Hip-Hop way way back in the late 70’s when electro started. Parliament, streetsounds, then gangster rap. For me it was hearing old soul tunes that blew my mind. I try to find instrumental versions when I can cause these tunes with no lyrics really can be tha bomb!
I think dj premier is a bit better than dre in terms on chopping and changing a sample so much it’s almost unrecognisable from the source. Dre is killer at taking a sample and completely changing the vibe/tone from the source
Definitely Premier and many less known producers. Dre makes the cleanest and most hard hitting beats but regarding sampling he's not in the top imo. As this video shows he mostly just rips melodies, while other producers are more creative and really flip samples
Dre does really know how to find the best sounding samples, I give him that. Even since NWA days. His success is really nothing surprising, he pretty much created G-Funk.
Did not know Dre sampled Aznavour. That’s crazy.
Great upload thank you
The for watching
That's Perfect,
that's _Dre_
There are more tracks that need to be added here..... Dr dre will always be that underrated producer!!! One of the best ones ever
Underrated producer?
Dr.Dre has never been underrated. Most have him top 3 all-time in hip hop producers.
great producer
Little Ghetto Boys was also used by Rza on the Forever album.
Always interested in finding the original music from the sampled
The real mindfuck for me is all his samples on 2001...if I didn't know they were samples I would've never figured it out. They just sound like original Dre compositions. Crazy
Woman to woman is a banger
Gracias 😄

Love this vid thanks
Thanks for watching
DRE EST UN MONSTRE !!!.
Un plagieur
Ese Dre tenía muy buenos gustos.. Long live rap
In 'Straight Outta Compton' film it had Dre tryin to figure out 'Aint Nothin But a G Thang' lol
It’s a combination of a direct sample and parts replayed
Excellent work
Best hip hop producer ever
Awesome video
👍👍
We definitely need an NWA Samples video
Added to the list
WTF?? No *DOPEMAN* on this bogus list?! At tha impressionable age of 9 when this song dropped, eye knew @dre was special w/ da music.
💯 Solid as a brick! 👊
good job❤️
👍
What's most impressive to me is how they made the samples sound fresh like Dr Dre played the notes himself. I don't know how they did this with just EQ and compression
I thought he just replayed the notes
@@cvpiguy he doesn't play any instrument. He got REAL musicians who works for him. Sampling is just cut and past some music piece.
@@blackcasanova7 i think he plays piano
@@JojoBusta he doesn't.
For most of his tracks he literally did replay the sounds. He was never keen on straight up ripping a sample off another song. That's what set him so far from the competition and why his songs sounded so clean
I grew up on this original music, especially Donny Hathaway, Roy Ayers and Kool and the Gang. He uses multiple samples in one song, but you have to know music.
Great music to grow up listening to
He also sampled a beat from Detroit Emeralds on NWA album and from Bootsie Collins and more.
Dre ye timbo and neptunes are them dudes for for real
All you mainly need to do is get a banging sample and add drums to it
Lyrical Gangbang also features the drumming of John Bonham and Led Zeppelin from When The Levee Breaks
Yeah great drum break. Has been sampled so many times.
Freaking genius!!!!!!!!
DRE killed that sample on phonetap
I always wondered where the bassline samlle in Nigga Wit a Gun is from. Thats the hardest shit ever man. I used it in a hip hop/nu metal sonv I made hears ago. I wish id had the original source so i coukdve llayed around wirh it more and made somethjng more unique but i didnt care. Id always wanted to use that bassline on somwthkng hard a.f. thank you and we appreciate your music knowledge!
Glad I could help out. Different parts of that Big Sur Suite have been sampled so many times. It’s well worth having a listen to the full track.
Amazing work 👌🏽
Thanks
Thanks for watching
to be ones to say! i always thoug they have skills:)
Gin and juice is George Mcreas I get lifted! You should have had that one in this list.
We are in dire need of a Relapse Dr. Dre sample beats video!
You mean the Eminem stuff that he produced?
Awesome.
that bill withers LP photo was actually taken at his workplace, he turned pro quite late on
Nice
The movie implied that Dre came up with sound for nuthin but a G thang on his own
What movie?
@@DJFurio straight outta Compton
Ah ok
I think they meant the part where the sample stops but that movie is 50% cap so idk
Yea the movie made it seem as he was freestyling the keys at that moment
I remember Dre had 2 versions of California Love.
To this day, I'm convinced that the lead up music from Tim Minchin's "Prejudice" to the punchline of the joke is a Dre sample from one of his songs.
