    Extra work? Yes. More plumbing than an old truck? Absolutely. But the young lad gives step by step instructions . Very clear audio. Good lighting on video. Very good how to. Most detailed video on triton plugs change on RUclips I've found.

    Thanks so much for posting this video! My knowledge of automotive is mostly the class I took in high school and I didn't really have the money to pay someone to change the spark plugs and ignition coils when the parts them self costs ridiculous amounts of money. A little more coverage on the passenger side would have been nice but now that I'm done (took me two days and making some personal video notes on what I disconnected) it really helped. I own a 1999 F-250 Light Duty and seeing that it was only made for 3 years, I was scared that it would have taken something special to figure it out. But it's done the same exact way your truck is. Thank again. Other tubers, Up to questions while it's still fresh in my mind.

      Thank you I am glad it helped you. About the passenger side, I actually was not going to do this video, but after getting into this further, I began to see where some people may have problems, so I started recording halfway through the job but back tracked with instructions as much as I could. Please help me by liking this video and subscribing to my channel! Thanks for the positive comment also.

    I did the drivers side today about an hour. Only removed the intake snorkle/filter and fuel rail bolts. That allowed me enough wiggle to get them changed. I did not remove the fuel rail from the injectors.
    It did require a variety of extensions and swivels as you showed.
    Your video is well done.

      Kevin Reese - I've changed plugs in COP systems before and didn't need to remove fuel rails. However, I'm planning on changing them in my 2000 expedition 5.4L this sunday and after looking everything over so I knew what to expect, I don't see how removing those rails can be avoided, either. Besides, it'll give me a chance to inspect the injectors. I guess we'll see how it goes...

      Ford changed the engine (2 valve to 3 valve) and spark plug design in 2004 and the 2004-2008 had issues with spark plugs breaking off in the cylinder head. Exception. I went to change the spark plugs in my 2004 Ford Expedition 5.4l engine last month and discovered it had the older style 2 valve motor.Luckily my car was produced early in 2004 and had the old style plugs that don't break off. I didn't remove the fuel rails .It took me all Saturday to replace the plugs,I am not a mechanic but am mechanically inclined.My mechanic wanted $800. to do the job.Watch all the videos on how to do this project, there are a lot of good ideas and suggestions here.

      Kevin Reese Yeah Kevin I have to replace tm my daughter's alternator on a 2005 Kia Sedona. It's a disaster of a design as far as this part goes. Not for a beginner watched several videos . one guy kept on saying.. this ridiculous.. Some people have resorted to almost taking the engine down.. But I've seen it done two or three ways without this.. I refuse to take an engine out when I know a manufacturer would not design it that way.. so anyways it looks the best way is to remove passenger front wheel and the the plastic cover that shields the engine. Other wise work from the top and listen many brackets to free the radiator..to have room to work.. regardless. I will take numerous videos and still pixs , the way it looks and has to reassembled. What kind of jacks do I need.

      Oh wow. I have heard Kia is a very cheap brand and not at all easy to work on and rebuild, and this was from professional mechanics who do this for a living so they know their stuff. There is a reason these cars are so much cheaper than their competitors. That sounds like a mess. If you are getting under that Kia I would make sure all the wheels are blocked and it is supported on jack stands. I got a video of a good jack and stands on my channel, you should check it out, might give you some good ideas. Hope this helps, take care and be safe.

    I have a 2000 E150 van, 5.4L with 150k miles on it. I guess I should think about changing the plugs soon. They've never been out since Ford put them in. It still runs great though. Access is more difficult since its a Van. Ugh!

    • @KReesethebeast
      @KReesethebeast  3 года назад

      Yep definitely time most likely. My truck had a misfire and when I investigated, I saw the plugs were shot! I was surprised I only had a misfire on that one cylinder, the other 7 were ok but it was a matter of time! And those vans are a little difficult. My dad and I pulled a 351 out of an old early 90s 15 passenger Ford van and put it in his 92 flareside to replace to old worn out 302 in it. If you remove the inside panel on the van it does make it much easier to get to the back of the motor though so that is a good thing. Good luck with it!

However, I feel it is always better to err on the side of caution, and if the plugs are something that concerns you, I would have them replaced.

    Yes I have been having to baby my 99 Chrysler Town and Country. it has 230k miles on it. The head gasket is going bad. I probably will have to rebuild the engine.. It will be the hardest thing I've ever done. I am totally ignorant about the process. Can you give me an idea of cost.. Just ball park it. The engine runs like new just have to hydrate it. Much better than a random junk yard... also a RUclipsr and my site is starting to grow. I've had it for years..

    • @KReesethebeast
      @KReesethebeast  6 лет назад

      Headgasket is cheap, it is the labor that will cost you. Also, the head will need to be resurfaced most likely, so that is a trip to a machine shop. On that car with that many miles if it were me, I would sell as a mechanics special and get something else. That is if you are taking it to a shop, because you will have more money in that car than it is worth. Hope that helps.

    Yeah I babying my Chrysler Town and country. I was in denial.. I finally narrowed it down to a bad head gasket.. Not a mechanic but have friend in the neighbor hood and church who are mechanics. Problem is mechanics have to make a living..And I refuse to take advantage of friendships. I try to help more than need help. if I can do something on my own , but just need a just a little advise or quick looking at, that's fine. I have plenty of books.. I figure I've got a few months, keep water in the car and confine to short trips. A long time ago I took at the thermostat.. it was getting hot quick and I wanted to make sure that the water jacket was not dry.. The radiator cap caused it to get hot in a couple minutes. I don't recommend this... I am no expert but that car will not run with a radiator cap on.. you do what you have to do..I also tried putting the cap on loosely.. no dice. The distortion fans come on..I replaced them around two years ago..it was a pain to replace the control semiconductor..and I'm an electronic tech..fixed TVs etc for years. I know it sounds crazy, but back during the depression they did strange things to get them by.. they had to drive bald tires.rememember the days of recaps. Anyways I think that I will be able to it. I don't have any idea what to ye, but it good experience.. I help keep the kids cars going. .. I have five jacks and two sets of jack stands.. I want a transmission jack. My dad could take a transmission apart blindfolded and put it back together blindfolded. He had an unbelievable memory... it didn't pass to me. be blessed.. stay in touch paul

      That is good not to take advantage of friendships, and yes they have a trade and have to earn a living like everyone else. It sounds like that car of yours is giving you a hard time. Overheating is usually due to a coolant leak from a low coolant level or either a bad thermostat. Also make sure your fans are coming on at idle and watch your coolant temp.

    Are those plugs known to break when taking them out? Do you let engine get cold or have it semi warm to take them out? If u were to take it to a shop, what would they charge? I like watching these videos working on engines...

    • @KReesethebeast
      @KReesethebeast  6 лет назад +5

      I'm glad you like watching these videos, I have plenty of them! Yes, I have heard cases where the plugs break and blow out of the head. Never remove them when they are hot, always make sure the engine is cool, it also helps to spray penetrating oil down around the plug and let it sit and soak, then remove very easy and slowly. As far as a shop goes, they are going to charge you based on how much time it takes to do the job, and most are upwards of $100/hr in labor. This truck was pretty involved and took me about 4 hours. So you would be looking at around $500 after parts and labor and tax. For me, it only cost me a trip to the parts store and plugs. I am not considering my tools. Tools are a long term investment that pay for themselves again and again. Thanks for watching, and I hope this helps.

    I know there's a benefit having 8 coil (packs) instead of one but what would that be? Gas mileage Maybe?

    • @KReesethebeast
      @KReesethebeast  4 года назад

      Generally speaking, coil packs are much more reliable than distributors, because there are no moving parts and because they fire much less often than a distributor. Coil packs usually create a better spark, which in turn produces better combustion and horsepower in an engine overall. There is a reason there are no distributors anymore. Plus everything is computer controlled now for efficiency and what not. Way of the future!

Make sure to wears long sleeves and thin gloves it is going to be hot but now remove fuel rail ect and the plug should come out once you manage to break torque go slow working the threads back and forth as you extract.

    Okay, I get really frustrated by people using the wrong words to describe what they are doing. A motor takes an outside power source and does work with it.. An engine takes a fuel source and converts it into an energy source; then does work with it. Motor and engine are NOT interchangeable.

    • @KReesethebeast
      @KReesethebeast  4 года назад

      You are correct with the terminology, and I do know the difference between the two. However, the majority of people will use the terms interchangeably. Is it correct to say it? No, but someone looking to change spark plugs will understand what I am saying. I am guilty of using motor to describe an engine from time to time. Thanks for making sure we all know the difference. Pluge will loosen up. DO NOT MESS with fuel system! LORD almighty! HAVE a P030? code? ONLY MESS WITH THE MISSING CYLINDER! Change ONE AT A TIME! This is NOT a Chevy small block! ANOTHER IMPORTANT VERY IMPORTANT thing is CHANGE THE COIL-OVER! NEW COIL OVER and NEW PLUG is a MUST! THis engine will run FOEVER with minimal messing with it. U R asking for an ongoing nightmare if you mess with things shown in this VIDEO! PROFESSIONAL MECHANICS see much $$$$ from any owner who follows this video.,

      Having owned this '01 5.4 since 2012, and doing countless spark plug changes on different engines, I disagree. Chill brother, everything is fine. Truck still running like a beast as always. Plug has nothing to do with blowing out, it was the heads on some Ford engines, threads were shallow. I agree Motorcraft is best, I only use that oil. Champion plugs I have always had great results with. As for fuel system, unfortunately had to remove the rails to get the plugs done correctly. Also, if you never used anti seize on plugs, you are asking to break one next time you change them. I have always used anti seize on plugs, never had one blow out.
