Mining Melancholy Restored to HD

- What you're hearing are the original samples used to create
Mining Melancholy from Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddy's Kong Quest, combined with the music instruction data from the game, plus mixing and mastering magic for a perfect recreation of what a studio recording would have sounded like.
All remasters currently progressed:

Omg yesssssss!! I work in a metal workshop and my goal is to convince everyone to play this while banging on anything and everything
I want a music video of this and Trashin the Camp, using random objects as instruments :D
Glenn_o'Schner
I second both of these ideas!

ElvenGodFromHell I would pay to see this, no joke.
Is it just me or this game has the best soundtrack of all games ever?
The Super Nintendo was just full of wonders. Earthbound, Link To The Past, Chrono Trigger have the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard in my life.
Yes. Without question.
rare entertainment
I'll agree it's ONE of the best. But I'm on board with what your feeling.
I wanna chew diamonds to this shit
Probably the most unique game soundtrack ever made
Yes but after David wise is not the same
DKC music ages so well. Like a fine wine it only gets better with time.
The best part is when the bees sing with the music in the game! ❤️
ruclips.net/video/Fqho4toWXG0/видео.html. (1:30 from this video) ❤️
@@Leotronico thank you for this! Incredible haha, never noticed before.
David McGurrin depends how fast you play the level. If you play fast you miss this.
I noticed something and that was it one day. I was wondering where the sound came from because it sounded like humming.
I love how the humming part sounds like actual humming now. I always thought that it was the bees.
Yeah, it really brings the "melancholy" part to the song
I ever thinked the same
But years later i discover that
Its the same sound fx, but the humming its a different notes created on gaming keyboard system choir
Those Zingers can really buzz a tune.
I thought it came from the bees in this level too! 😆
This sounds absolutely incredible
I miss 1999 😢
This is one a lot of us wanted, it might sounds sad as its name says but I think we missed it because of the nostalgy it produces, making most of us remember our childhood with this game.
And ironically that's when the melancholy starts ^^
Well, I'm pretty sure "Mining Melancholy" is the fan name, while the official is just "Kannon's Klaim."
@@ryanschmidt3913 Sure, but the music lends itself more to the mining aspect than the kharakter of Kannon. So I tend to go with MM than KK.
@@ryanschmidt3913 That is true.
I'm fairly content with the fanmade name, because every other song isn't named after a level in the game.
(on the flipside, I'm not content with people calling the bramble song StickerbRush Symphony)
@@k-leb4671 That we can agree on, at least.
As a child I remember that I becamse fascinated with mining because of the Donkey Kong Country series. This theme, as well as Life in the Mines (from DKC1), stuck with me for years to come. And now, many years later, I have become a miner in real life... of course this song is one of many I'm listening to while drilling for ore deep underground.
Do you like mining? Do you ever find rare minerals? Also I love your country
@@seronymus | Yes, I like it. It's just a small-scale operation, but I like it that way. And I dofind some stuf, but it's not making me rich. Mostly for the enjoyment of it... Be for yourself and use the body for actual labor.
Try it, gi prospecting! :)
@GoldenNorway it's funny you say that, I'm American currently on vacation in Las Vegas (casino city in middle of desert) and my mom's be wants to have us explore some mines and ore around the area, we might even try panning for gold! He found some years ago when he lived here for about 20 years, he even found a giant turquoise with gold veins. Pray me good fortune haha, and thank you very much! Gud velsigne deg! You have a very honorable work and are a real man like the old days :)
Os olhos até enchem de lágrimas.
a 25years old edm masterpiece
The "ooo" sound sounds better in the game, but the rest sounds better here.
Wiezymon Thats because there were 2 versions of this game. For SNES and than the Game Boy version. This is the game boy version and the game boy version had far worse completions of the songs and far less music than the SNES
@@vinnypiccarillo9594 Oh, thank you.
😙😣😣😣
@@vinnypiccarillo9594 Its not the gameboy, just a restoration of the original. All instruments on SNES are compressed and reduced bits. Sometimes less bits create a better sound or effect.
I still wonder if that is the Zinggers buzzing in the background.
For those who'd rather complain about ones efforts of restoring over just listening to the original. I have a suggestion. Download a SPC player, (im using the SNES SPC700) find the spc files of your favorite retro game, set your bit-rate to 32 float, your sample rate to 96,000 HZ, Interpolation to SINC function, Stereo Separator to 70% (Optional), tick Low-pass Filter under Expansion. Feel free to experiment with any of these settings. Now do my settings create a less than accurate sound to the original hardware? Yes, but I think this will give you a better HD experience of the original material if you don't like what TerraBlue posts. Ultimately I enjoy her efforts but not every track hits accurately to the original, so this is why I suggest a SPC player. SPC player is fun to play with too. You can mute each track element and listen to the wizardry behind David Wise's work.
Listening to Plok - Beach with those settings is a godsend, thank you :D
so this is a legit method to rip samples from SNES?
TerraBlue didn't do jack shit but upload Sam work his goal is to make the sound sound the same way David wise made it befor it got compress to dog shit on the snes. there has been a lot of updates to these songs to get them to sound right over the years he has found many samples that David Wise used . ruclips.net/channel/UCKaTWjXt6tJ9S6K0YFJVEfQfeatured
Well, soloM81... TerraBlue makes good [CENSORED], and without the SNES sound card, there would be no *crispy* SNES drums
Nice Feed Me profile pic :D
Listening to this in 2064....................still AMAZING!
M8 this guys’s time travveling!!! And somehow wrote this two years ago
@@hacktrixapii how is he doing this man!?!?
I dunno? He’s magic!!
Thank you TerraBlue
And there it is. The best music on DKC history IMO.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
finally someone that does say this is better than forest interlude
Imma let you finish but Stickerbrush Symphony is the best.
Thanks for the imo i like dkc 1's Soundtrack Way better for example i hate stickerbrush Symphony
There is no way DKC1 had a better soundtrack than DKC2
Summoner Arthur yeah... One of many. Including aquatic ambiance
It brings a lot of memories of my childhood to hear this beautiful soundtrack
For your information, the instrument making that clanging sound is a hammer.
Is that the same hammer sound like when you jump with your minecart on the tracks?
Really? That's interesting. I always thought it was the same/similar sound as the steel drum/barrel clanging, e.g. when you hit it against a wall. For all I know, it could be the sound of a hammer against a steel drum.
I think it's not unreasonable to think of it as the sound of a pickaxe since it's supposed to be in a mineshaft where pickaxes would (I think) be more common. However, if you're SURE that the sampling sound was actually a hammer, that's fine with me.
A bunch of the instruments were used as sound effects to save on space
Tengo que admitir que desde pequeño admiraba esta música, pero nunca supe quien la hizo hasta que descubri la magia de David Wise, simplemente un maldito genio.
Holy crap. I never listened to this track in this quality, really brings out some nice details. Especially in the bass fuzziness.
hot head bop pls!
Penquita el gato I second that!!!
I third that!
🤘😊✊
1:23 best part!
I absolutely love these videos, thank you very much for doing them. The entire DKC2 soundtrack is honestly
some of the best video game music ever composed!
The part at 1:14 literally makes my right headphone vibrate with bass. I did not expect that.
That's the one that i was anticipating the most this is exellent. awesome job !
It`s amazing how music can bring back memories, how listening to it on the loudest volume on a good headphone can make you cry and feel warm emotions... thanks Terra, superb work as always.
La musica no necesita idiomas para expresarse, simplemente es belleza hablando por si misma 😍
Un clásico para conocedores que seguramente jugaron estos juegos en su infancia.. se me enchina la piel de la nostalgia
Sim, com certeza, brasileiros concordam com você manito
Buenos recuerdos 😂💕
A música e universal melodias tocam a alma
La música...muy hermoso, se puede transmitir y transportar a otros tiempos
My favorite video game tune! I'm loving all the Donkey Kong work you're doing!
I have asked and I have received. Bless.
Why can't this song get out of my head? My brain just refuses to forget this.
Whoa, at 1:26, I always imagined it was the bees (Zingers?) chanting. I had no idea the buzzy quality of it was due to the SNES compression. Totally changes the song in my eyes, haha.
Not sure which I like better, but I'm really glad this exists anyway.
Soundtrack was timeless and this was my absolute favorite
You deserve more subscribers for helping us relive this artwork nostalgia music feel like I'm 7 playing all over again with my bros
Listening this on a headphone = Pure bliss. 😍
It's been awhile but still I find myself singing along
Lockjaw's saga - Dixie kong - "Diddy, I am scared. Are we going to be okay?"
Diddy Kong - " Don't worry, we just need get off this ship and we will find help. DK will figure out a way to beat King K Rool"
Mining Melanchony - Dixie kong - "help is not coming, is it"
Diddy Kong - "no Dixie, we are on our own..."
as a child, I just played the game and enjoyed the music.
as an adult, this is the part in the game where shit got real and realized that this game was very dark.
DuckJo ❤️
WOW. This is like, pitch-perfect this is absolutely incredible work remastering! Great job!
This is awesome! Great job! My favorite soundtrack in the whole trilogy :D
The synth sounds come through so much better in the HD upload. Using a pair of IEMs really brings out this song on top of it. You can hear each note come alive and not just sound like a bunch buzz/humm sounds.
Alguém do Brasil que curte essas músicas maravilhosas?

DK melhor trilha sonora do Super Nintendo
Ei aqui!!! Simplesmente uma das trilhas sonoras favorita tanto minha quanto de muitos!
com certeza
I was waiting for this beauty to come, thank you very much. Have a great week ahead.
AHHHHH YES! Thank you so much for doing this! My favorite DKC song and just one of my favorite video game tracks of all time. This sounds fantastic!
This is stolen from Sam Miller, they are claiming it as their own content. Even the description says they worked on it together but that's simply not true.
OMG this is amazing good work!!
This is as amazing as I had hoped it would be. Thanks.
Are there any plans to do any tracks from DKC3? I'm one of the 14 people who love that game.
anutrof I love DKC 3 as well as you, bro!
anutrof I love DKC3 almost as much as I love DKC2, it's a shame it's so underrated because it was not "as good as DKC2". There are a lot of very good stuff in that game
anutrof Also it's funny your comment has 14 likes xD
4/14 Right here, that game was great.
Heyyy! I grew up with DKC3 as a kid. Really fond memories of playing that game...
You're my new favorite person for doing this. Seriously. THANK YOU!

This is Donkey Kong Country remaster game quality, it keeps the sweet tune of the original and provides a much more modern feel. Amazing tracks, keep up the amazing work.
Edit like a over a year later (October 2020 from like July 2019): it’s still awesome
Thank you so much for doing these.
Wow, the bass and zinger choir sound much different now! Brings into question if they were ever intended to represent them (though it is reasonably likely that they were.)
Recuerdo cuando de niño me quedé fascinado con esta canción por lo buena que era, que recuerdos, gracias rareware.
David Wise*
Agradece a David Wise
Brings back so many memories. Just too much to handle... Thank you!
this is such a perfect fit. the mine levels constantly have you ascending using barrels or squawks, and the song's emotional rise suit the pace perfectly.
Me da nostalgia este soundtrack :')
1:15.....DAT BASS SON!
Welp. Time to binge on all these amazing mixes. it's 8 am and I haven't slept yet. Worth it.
The percussion sound is the elements of the scenario! Genius! Bravo!

GRACIAS POR EL TRABAJO QUE HACES, ME ENCANTA LOS SOUNDTRACKS DE DKC 2!!!!!
This is godlike. Bless you!
i dont think ive ever heard percussion pitch shift like that and still sound good, how does david wise do it?
YES
this is one the best theme soundtrack i ever heard in my life.
How does a game from 25 years ago have better music than so many games today? That's the genius of David Wise, able to make so many bangers on the anemic hardware the Super Nintendo had
Limitations in hardware caused some composers to be more creative. Wise is also a genius as you said.
Essa música é maravilhosa!
0:35 I love this part
Damn, this is pretty nice. It's so freaking amazing to notice on the music those little details that I didn't catch while playing the original game.
Great job! Wondering how a Top Gear restoration would sound :P
Such great work. Thanks :-)
