- BTUFF went and watched the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. If you've never seen it, it's a must see. The procedure is done at Arlington Cemetery, in Washington D.C. This procedure happens year round. We got a closeup of the inspection which is one of the most disciplined things you will ever see. At the end you see a Honor Flight ceremony. Make sure to give the video a like if you enjoyed it. The tomb of the unknown soldier is a must see.
The two gentlemen in wheelchairs. That's what true heroes look like.
One semi over your feet and u look the same. Bet?
They loved our country so much… they watched brothers killed…
They paid the ultimate price, live with the consequences, only to witness what’s happening today…
🫡
Thank You all that serve in our military!
As a Veteran, I had the honor to be in one of the Veterans groups in wheelchairs that flew in from South Florida in 2019 and watched the changing of the Guard ceremony.
Quite impressive, an unforgettable trip.
When did you serve? Aren’t those guys mostly WW2 and Vietnam?
Thank you for your service sir.
I'm an old Marine who served during the Cold War.
I was an office pogie. Supply Admin and Operations.
I didn't face danger, the enemy, or put my life on the line.
That is the main reason I love you guys who did.
God bless you for your supreme sacrifices. God LOVE you for your continued respect and love for your country.
And, I'll tell you this one sincerely; I especially love y'all for your DISTRUST of the U.S. Gubmint. 🤪😝😁
That moment where the first guard presents the rifle and begins adjusting it only for the new guard to immediately take it away and begin inspecting it… gives me chills every time!
It’s like he’s saying “No, that’s MY job.”😂
I love that part as well. I do think the first guard was checking to see if loaded though. Not adjusting
Yah they do that during the inspection and when they finish their shift. If the rifle was loaded it would be a serious hazard to be spinning around like that so it’s a flashy way to do a basic safety check before the rifle gets flipped and smacked and stuff. (Yes I know that m14s have a magazine and they don’t have one but a lot of accidental shootings happen because people take the mag out of the gun and don’t realize there is a round in the chamber. The guard charging the rifle would eject the round if there was one in the chamber)
Any veteran who doesn’t get chills well they just weren’t meant to serve. I am a proud veteran and can watch this over n over and get chills like it was the first time I watched it
@@OkellaWoodThere are no rounds in the rifle
To all those who may laugh about the old men in the background:
Once they where well trained, once they fought for their country, once they where in a condition enemies where afraid of.
In just a few years all those who are now the strong ones will look the same. YOU will look the same.
And you wouldn't want people to laugh at you just because your best days are in the past.
So show respect the way you would like to receive respect later.
It’s a privilege to serve in the old guard, guarantee you this was practiced hundreds of times all to get it right. Glad you enjoyed it and got to experience Arlington.
Yeah but to do this after all the hardship just don't look worth it
Thank you to you and all the guard for honoring our fallen brethren. They deserve no less, having paid the ultimate price of freedom.
Tens and tens and tens of thousands of times. Hours upon hours upon hours, days weeks. This is one of the hardest badges to earn in all of the military. The commitment this takes is incomprehensible to the average person. You are looking at the absolute finest of finest here. Every single one of these dudes are studs
The bit that makes me get a chill on my spine is those moments were the sergeant stops to salute the unknown soldiers.
Being non american, seeing this level of respect for the fallen soldiers is enough to bring a grown man to tear up. This is extremely beautiful.
You tear up at the fall of a hat.
Very heart touching 🥇 the veteran suffering that heavy form of Parkinson disease sent me shivers down my spine . I'm Italian, but I think that these very patriotic moments have no borders . Ciao , happy new year
As Navy Veteran ( 54 years ago) ...... FB posts like this give me hope for our country... very inspirational
Go home and wait for your social security check STOP LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW
@@johnalver You don't have to worry about getting a Social Security check, John. You will never get one if you don't get a job.
@@johnalverYour comment represents everything that's currently wrong with this country, while the Navy Veteran's represents everything that's still good and right about our nation.
I've had the honor to see this only one time when I was 18 years old, I am a 52 year old man. It moved me then and it moves me now.
I think every single American should visit Arlington Cemetery and see what our beloved freedom costs. The changing of the Guard is the most emotional moving experience I've ever witnessed in my entire lifetime.
It really is a great trip. Very moving to see this ceremony
If you've never seen this, it's amazing. Worth a trip to Washington just to see this.
So good to see the spectators just watch the ceremony in respectful silence
I had the distinct honor of being at the changing of the guard on Thanksgiving weekend in 1976 when I was on liberty from Camp Lejeune North Carolina.
I was in my Dress Blues, and was standing at the back of the crowd as I watched the ceremony.
When the Sergeant of The Guard was at the front, and spoke to the crowd, he said; "Members of the military who are present, and in uniform, are required to render the proper salutes upon the orders of 'present arms'...." I thought to myself; "I would have done so, no matter what".
But when the orders of "Present Arms", and "Order Arms" were given, I did as ordered. And thus became a part of the ceremony. I have never forgotten that, and will carry that honor with me until the day I die.
I don't know who the Unknown Soldiers are...but I will never forget them.
May they rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon them.
My grandfather, WWII Veteran, was part of an Honor Flight several years ago. He said they all cried, saluted HIM, and he was just so proud. I still remember.. . RIP to all who fought for us and have passed...
I love my veterans. They need our support.
Love seeing the veterans from an Honor Flight in the background, was just there yesterday with the Great River Honor Flight based in Quincy IL. I was there as a guardian for my dad who was in the Cold War, this was one of his favorite moments
To see the sections of the mat having depressions in specific spots as well as seeing the darkened spots on the concrete being exactly where they step and have specifically stepped for years is a testament of the practice and precision of what these gentlemen do.
So impressive!
It’s one of the hardest badges to earn in all of the military. The commitment this takes is unfathomable. These are the best of the absolute best right here. You could trust any of these dudes to get the job done, top to bottom all studs.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. We will remember them.
I LOVE how the wear marks on the concrete match EXACTLY where the guards stand and pivot!! Also, I LOVE that the Sergeant of the Guard has an extended magazine in his sidearm.
I would like to thank each and every service member for your service may God Bless each and every one of you.❤
God bless all those veterans. ♥️♥️♥️
Imagine pulling one of these guys over for drunk driving..
“walk a straight line for me”
These guys, in their day, were more Badass than you, ( or me ) will ever be. Ultimate Respect. Ultimate Respect to their Comrades-in Arms and to the Lost. I’m sure you’ve seen the photo snippets
Great honour to the veterans❤ thank you for showing this.👍🕊
This is a form of art. Rituals makes procedures not only perfect but also beautiful.
Tin soldiers get out of their box for a while.
Still amazing to me that people watch what’s happening in front of them on a screen instead of just watching what’s in front of them.
Washington D.C was such an amazing place to visit ! So much pride and remarkable history for such a young Nation.
Nothing but respect..I come from a military family they will never disgrace the American flag.
I'm glad to see so many veterans there. And when the bugular started playing TAPS I was in tears. Much respect for the sentinels who guard the Tomb of the Unknowns. Thank you so very much and God bless.
Hearing TAPS being played gave me chills all over my body and someone cutting onions. 😥😥😥
Almost robotic
Oddly hypnotic
Can’t look away
Thank you for the HDR video. It's the first time the inscription on the tomb was visible from a video recording in all the times I've watched YT.
I just have to say thank you to all veterans who make the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe. They give so much for so little reward. I appreciate and applaud you and your courage.❤
The dedication is amazing
A few years ago, I visited cemetery of Colleville sur Mer, for birthday of D-Day, I have met american veterans, it was so beautiful and full of emotions. Happy to talked to an heroe from Airborne.
A frenchy.
How lovely. Thank you for your service and devotion.
Thank them for servicing corporations at tax payers expense. Read the book war is a racket by gen. Smedley Butler Usmc.
Congratulations from yours brazilians friends and fans. GOD BLESS YOU.
Everytime I see one of these videos I am speechless.
These soldiers are some of the most dedicated and detailed in our entire military. They are amazing to watch. While I don’t know much about what we used to call ‘Delta Force’ and is now ACE (and has a new name that they’ve been able to keep civilians from finding out so far) I have heard that more soldiers will pass their training and make it into Delta than there are soldiers who pass their training and become one of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. That’s insane!
I was there a few years ago. I was amazed how The Americans go all out to remember their veterans. You are so lucky to be American. I love how all your flags are placed along the headstones during the 4th of July weekend.
really epic, unreal dedication
Heyyyyyyy, that Honor Flight ceremony was for my county. That's really cool!
PERFECTION !!! 😊
I wish parents would make it a priority to help their children understand the sacrifices that were made to make this great nation great.
If they did, maybe those who “take a knee” would be fewer and farther between. 🇺🇸
How bout the ones who raid the Capitol?
I got the privilege of seeing a wreath laying ceremony. The guards, for as hard as they look, were very kind to the people laying it. Walked them through every step. Quietly of course lol.
Ive seen this in person. Every American needs to see this in person.
Freedom isn't free. Many have served and died for the freedoms we all enjoy.
God bless our armed forces.
ALWAYS SO impressive!! I was six years old when I first witnessed this.
So PROUD of these men!!! USA The Greatest!!
It is sad that there are many people in our great nation who just don't understand what this generation actually accomplished. Those people OWE this generation a thanks beyond measure for their freedom, even if they are ignorant and ungrateful.
Being English. These guys are just as good as the British huge respect
Sorry my British friend, but these guys are better than yours. But, I’d say the SAS are better than our special ops by a slim margin.😊
Wow so excellent.
Respect guys !
Hardest 21 steps, why they are badass
Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU for serving 💯 USA USA USA
I've been there a few times. And I'll go again.
My wife and I stayed here for a couple hours this past year and watched multiple guard changes. Unfortunately, it was also the place where I saw the most disrespectful people during my entire trip. Was quite sad.
Shiniest sidearm ive ever seen

My hat also goes off to those veterans in the background that took the bus trip to visit Washington DC.
They came on an Honor Flight. They were flown from their hometown.
@@mark9531 thank you. I was lucky enough to be part of bus trip for WWII and Korean War Veterans several years ago. I was also lucky enough to be raised and worked with the greatest generation.

Shoulder rest, so the gun doesn't slide down when aiming.
Crank? On a weapon? Very dubious, matey.
Good Style guard parade very best
I'm genuinely curious how many rehearsals it takes for the officer to memorize all the maneuvers with the rifle

I gotta question, this is watch over the tomb of the unknown soldier, and all that weapon inspection seems flashy, but are those garands loaded? Or is it all just a show for respect over the soldier’s who have passed and have yet been claimed?
From what I believe there is a single bullet in it. I could be wrong.
@@btuff
No, they're completely unloaded.
Also, they're M14s, not M1 Garands.
If I recall there are times when they will be issued ammo, like just after the 9/11 attacks as this is a national monument and could be a target meant to destroy the culture of America
@@cdsatcher I'd wager folding money the sergeant's sidearm is loaded. Otherwise, why would they have an extended magazine? That thing's got to be at least a 20 rounder.
And I wouldn't be surprised if there were loaded magazines for the rifles nearby, too.
id bet a buck they carry around a mag for that m14 in their pocket or somerhin...
What model of glasses is this?
Oakley Sunglasses
There's one particular moment in this ceremony where the guards "salute" the veterans in attendance without raising a hand. They don't do it every ceremony but if you pay close attention they definitely do something different when there are veterans in the crowd.
When the guard comes on the Tomb Plaza, as he walks by those veterans, he scuffs his show. It is a secret salute which the veterans listen for. And the guard gives it without any fanfare.
Hi, all the movements with the rifles are very fast and accurate. So I wonder why the new guards are putting down their rifles so demonstrative slowly and carefully to their side 1:28 ? Of course they don‘t want to hit the ground too hard in order to not damage the metal, but it seems to me kind of overdone.
And there‘s this tiny delay in presenting the rifles at 3:28 , what dose that mean?
This can be seen in every footage, so it‘s intended and no mishap. Any ideas why they do that? What‘s the intention?
Are those old rifles capable of firing live rounds?
Yes. They are fully functional vintage M14. These soldiers are fully trained on the M14 and the bayonet. However, they are not loaded.
@@mark9531 Thanks for the reply.
What does the guard in the green booth do?
I wonder
All very nice but what if he actually got something wrong? Is it like "Sorry mate your boots look a bit shit. No points for you".
What do they do if the inspection fails?
The Relief commander or whoever is conducting the changing we mumble under their breath whatever you got wrong, the new guard then has 1 minute to fix it, and if they fail a second time they do not go back out.
At first I thought video would be speed times 2
I truly hope that these young soldiers understand the sacrifices that the veterans watching have made... you are performing your duties because they did their jobs.
MILITARY RECRUITS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THE WORK! 3 YEAR TERM! ROTATION!
What happens if you make a mistake?
Small ones get fixed. Bigger ones get rejected. One notable mistake was the guard that dropped the rifle… the replacement had to continue but was relieved a few minutes later
If there's a mistake with the unform they just send them back
“This rifle is made out of rifle.”
first breath and thought type of stuff. found three dale flag.// tds r got the do table also. trd

Tomb of the Unknown is a memorial dedicated to all members of the military with unidentified remains.
To add on to the other commenter, it is done this way to remind you how disciplined, and how much of an exquisite honor it is to be in the Old Guard.
This is for the people who gave their lives for our nation that was never found or identified. It's one tomb to honor all those people. It's also a display of how much our nation respects those who died although we may never know who they was. It's very important as a foundation of respect between the military and the citizens. It shows a huge amount of gratitude to keep this going. It's the least humanity could ask for, everyone should be proud our country has the dignity to give proper burial for the people who died in the dirt and was lost without a body to bring home.
AC80 É SÓ CAPA NO FREE FIRE 🥶🥶🥶
Btw y'all these guns are not light weight. You would be shocked at how heavy these things are.
One dropped on a sentinel. He guarded the tomb for a few minutes while another sentinel received the word from either the old guard (the one originally being relieved) or inspection guard (the one who dropped the rifle while inspecting the relief) to get ready quickly.
Incredible!!
Now if we can only win a war with such efficiency and skill. I mean, it’s been almost 80 years ! 😢
To think those men fought without a positive end to their plight is unbearable to think of
At least they have their honor
That would require politicians to let’s us do our job

What a weird process. I mean no disrespect, and I do get the honor and respect for the fallen and why it's done. It's just all the odd pomp and ceremony. In many ways, it has become a show of tradition that people come to watch more so than it is about the individuals who the show is actually for.😮
