Hi, I made this game! There was a bug with the Coins/HP curse you bought which kept you from taking damage from most enemies... It's fixed now in the new version! Not being able to stop running was intended for eternal flame though haha. Thanks for playing!
Yeah, that last enemy made you lose hp and gold at the same time so they were definitely linked. Your hp did go up each time you gained gold, and went down when you spent in the shop too. The Eternal Flame thing that you got before that seems to look as if it was the thing that was the flame on you from then on, so that was what made you immune to fire damage I reckon. Since no enemy other than that final one made you lose gold it seemed the only way for you to lose up to then would to accidentally spend all your gold. Not 100% on that, just guessing from what I observed.
I think the reason you where taking to damage was because of the hard hat with infinite durability. The armor seems to take damage for you at the cost of durability on the armor so having a helmet that does not break lets you block all hits for no cost. This also explains why you took damage from the final boss because you switched you hard hat for the big helmet and the big helmet broke

I believe that upgrade made your hp link to how much gold you currently have.
