Man, my water heater has been a JOURNEY to set up; two plumbers AND a gas guy have cost be several thousand dollars I didn't have to spare and I was about to have to bring in an electrician before you saved my bacon. Thanks a bunch for this video!
I can hardly believe how poorly the installation instructions from Rinnai are for the electrical. And even more so that those two tiny wires are for the 120! This was a lifesaver. Thank you for doing these.
Mike, I want to thank you for your videos, especially this one. I live on an island off Honduras and needed to replace a POS unit they use down here that gives me hot water for about 30 seconds before the hi temp circuit kicks in. A had a exterior mount Rinnai brought in and was completely baffled on where to put the pigtail. I could not fathom that i connect to those little 20 gaugesish wires. After watching a couple of your vids you really spelled it out in this one and actually mention how small they were. I thank you again
You're incredible! I can't thank you enough for this straight forward, clear video. Well spoken and right to the point without being boring or a robot as a bonus
Thank you for a thorough explanation on the electrical part of a tankless heater. Question for you. Can you turn on the heater to check that power is going to the heater without having it plumbed? Or rather water going into the system? Thanks
First of all, Thank you for your videos and helping to make life a little easier. I was wondering , I just purchased an outdoor model like on your video. REU-VC2025W (V65e) can this unit be converted from propane to Natural gas? Or do I need to get a different unit. Mine is new in the box, never been installed. Thank you
How do i contact ? Im having issues with main electrical for Rinnai V53De. This one doesnt have the punchout. It does have a threaded section with black/white cables coming down out of the unit. But you are saying these cables are for controller. My Rinnai does not have a punchout. Please reply. Thanks
Unfortunately that’s the hardest to wire. It all gets wired into the small box at the bottom. You can drill a 1/2” hole in the bottom of the unit and bring the wires up into the unit snd wire it that way. The controller has to be wired into that small box. Mike
Trying to hook up my Rinnai RUR199i. Where do I connect my zone valve controllers? Is there some connection plug I need to buy? My guess is that it needs to plug in the slot just above the one above the Wifi plug?
Mike is 110% legit. His videos are so helpful. BIGGEST of all, he helped me over phone and email with some of my questions. TOP NOTCH. Dear reader, subscribe to this guy. He is amazing !!!
I dont have that punchout for black/white electrical, i only have that other rubber threaded where black/white cables are for controller... how do i wire this using your daisy method?
I accidentally bought a natural gas unit outdoor version (v75en) and wanted to know, if you don't mind, how do i convert to propane? Or is it better to just have Rinnai trade out for the propane unit? The place I bought it from was a special order, so i am not able to exchange it.
Hello Rinnai Guy, I bought the Rl 75eN External model, I need to do a conversion to propane since we are In Puerto Rico, I would like part number and intructions to do so, thank you
Unfortunately you need to call Rinnai Tec. Support for that info. They are the ones that issue those parts when converting the unit. You will need to give them the model and serial number of the unit. You can buy the part from them at the Rinnsi parts store. E mail me your info and I will send you the part number so you know you are getting the rite part. Mike
I'm always amazed that people can live where you can install water appliances year round in the exterior atmosphere and never think, "hey this is going to freeze up"! I mean there has to be at least one night where puddles freeze no?
Any recommendations on which hot water recirculation pump to use on a Rinnai RUCS75i? I tried the Watts 0955800 but it does not seem to have enough pressure to start the recirculation and fire up the water heater.
Mike, I appreciate all the videos. They've been a great help when I was installing a RUCS75IN at my house. I have a question that my plumber and Rinnai have not been able to get answered. After I flush a toilet or run a high flow sink on the cold side (at the end of the fill or cutting water flow) the Rinnai unit turns on the vent fan momentarily. The toilets don't have a crossed line and I added a check valve on the cold line before the heater thinking it was back flowing water when the toilet tank finished filling. Still does this after check valve.... Any suggestions?
Great videos! I am changing my rental houses over to Rinnai from Tagaki. The ones I bought have this dumb threaded connector at the power in instead of just a KO. After hours of trying to find that connector , I'm going to just put a blank plate over the hole for my existing Liquid right connector. It's a stupid European feature
Hey jack hammer, i have the same situation. What did u do to resolve this? I dont havr the knockout, instead i have the threaded one. Dont know what to do
this is a question that sounds like i am a dumbass but i am so confused. does the propane tankless require an electrical cord? my understanding is it is battery fired but directions are so confusing!!!
Hello, Bought this for my father in law and was going to help him install. He went ahead with out me and plugged the high voltage to the mainboard where the controller needed to go. Fortunately, he had it plugged in to a GCFI switched which kept resetting. By the time I got there to fix it and correctly wire it, I could not power on the controller. Im worried that he fired the main board, but would be happy if it was just the controller he ruined. V65 model. Any suggestions on where to obtain both those parts please shoot me an email if you can, as im trying to fix his expensive mistakes. dmc831 at yahoo dot com. Thanks for this video and hope the expense isnt so high.

Wow! Thank you. The Rinnai booklet does not do a good job of describing this. Excellent thorough how to. 👏🏻👏🏻
Glad it helped. Mike

caroline blasing I hear you...you would have to be an electrical engineer to work off the instructions supplied!
Yeah the two spindly wires I thought were for the controller!

such a way better to explain the wiring of the AC and remotes than the manual(which had almost nothing but a useless wire diagram) .. thanks a ton

Thank you sir! Just what I needed

Very very helpful! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!!
Great presentation, I used this to hook up the unit.

Good gravy...thanks for explaining the power hook up glad I didn’t plug in I would have ruined the control board. Thanks again
Thanks for keeping it simple bro! You explained it well🤙🏽
Exactly what i was searching for, Thank You!

What model number do you have
@@TheBuddylab V53De Gas
Will the board fry if you hook 120 to it and turn on the power?
Yes there is a VERY GOOD CHANCE it will

Excellent! Thank you very much
Thank you sir very helpful 🙏
Our power went out and when it came back on no hot water. We opened it up and the control panel isn’t turning on.
Any advice what we can do?
Where can i buy the power supply cord?
Can this unit be installed in Portland Maine? Is it to cold?
We gave them in Alaska, I would highly recommend an internal one

Mind did not come with ac 120v. Or you have to buy them.
Thank you

I have a tankless water heater the gas line 1/2 inch that that's enough to turn on
I cant believe how much of a wimpy wire that power is. I understand its just for igniting, but it seems so small!
