CHIANG MAI, THAILAND - Chiang Mai has an amazing variety of vegan food and restaurants and today we’re going to eat at Goodsouls Kitchen which serves some of the best International, fully plant based food, in Thailand.
Hanging out with my friend Dwight ( / courageouskitchen , we headed to the original location of Goodsouls Kitchen in Chiang Mai, and ordered up a bunch of food.
One of the things I was impressed most about Goodsouls is their massive variety of dishes and cuisines available on their menu. From a full coffee shop menu to vegan pizzas and pastas to Thai food to burger - they literally have it all. You could almost treat Goodsouls Kitchen as a 5 in 1 restaurant where you can just go to eat a cuisine of your choice. And the impressive part is that the food is incredibly good.
The khao soi vegan burger was tasty, the northern Thai nam ngiaw with rice noodles was delicious, the pancakes were delicious, and the pizza - which again was fully vegan using nut based cheese was incredible.
Whether you are vegan or not, Goodsouls Kitchen serves fantastic fresh food that’s nutritious. They have a number of locations in Chiang Mai and Bangkok, highly recommended as one of the best plant based restaurants in Thailand.

I watch all of your videos, but this is my favourite. As someone who eats meat lightly (and no beef or pork) and vegetables heavily I love to see this channel. To showcase how flavourful veggies are and don't necessarily need meat. This looks great and would love to visit this restaurant so please keep this channel up!

Mark i absolutely love your videos I always have since 2015, is there any chance you would release a hot sauce/chili suace? I know you have a good Pallet for spice and food so i know you could easily choose a good product or 2 for chili sauce to sell. I would love to support you in that way and I'd love to see what you would have to bring to the market compared to many other brands. I hope you consider releasing a chili sauce/condiment brand soon i believe many people would love to have a product by you as many people care for you and trust your pallet as a spice entrepreneur and food review legend.

I love Dwight! His opinions sound really authentic and honest. Mark doesn’t say anything negative unless the food is overly greasy or sweet (I’m sure for a reason). So it’s good to have Dwight who seems rather neutral. I would love to see more collab with him!!

Looks REALLY good for Vegan!! I would be excited to try their Khao Soi. The only other place that made a decent, mushroom based Khao Soi is now, sadly closed. The Khanom Jin Nam Neaw looks amazing!

Try Dirt Candy in NYC. A vegetarian spot for a special meal that is truly stunning. A splurge but worth it if you are in New York. I am not vegetarian but if I could, would eat like that all the time.

Finally made it here! actually not on purpose but stayed at Lanna Hotel walking distance from the Restaurant.
So I had the Philly Cheese Steak, it was horrible: ( Like a block of salt. The fruit bowl was ok, coming from Phuket on this trip me and my girl (who's from Arunothai) had some amazing fruit bowls in Phuket. The pancakes I ordered originally, they came back to tell me they didn't have. I got the chocolate pancakes instead. Great presentation they were ok and that coconut whip cream was awesome until u get to the melted bottom which tasted very very off. Had amazing homemade fremented Green tea salad in Arunothai, I love that salad! I find restaurants Vegan option on the salty side. Didn't order theirs but a must try! I'm from New York I was tempted to order the pizza but had horrible versions on the trip so I stopped myself from being disappointed lol That cashewnut cream sauce was very very good tho especially with my French fries. The place was very cool, we ate at the table that was behind you ,it had an awesome menu and options. I'd say definitely must try. My girl got the chili pasta which was very good. Prices were cheap! Must try for sure, was here twice. I tried going to the Japanese place but it was Monday. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday, Weds it rained all day couldn't make it on this trip so bummed but the owner who was super nice gave me his card...next trip which will be in October. So many Vegan spots now in Chiang Mai now its overwhelming!♡ Vegan Heaven is still my go too. Had some amazing kho soi noodles at the night market but Vegan Heavens banna root salad and Kho soi is amazing!

At first I heard Cow-Soy and thought it was a meat replacement product for the burger, then Mark went digging underneath.
So funny. He was eating Micah's fries. Potatoes are packed full of nutrition. While what they fry them in may not be great for you there are some benefits to have a little bit of it. Potatoes have protein, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Potassium, Vitamin K, Iron, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, and a list of others. We once had a food guide in a circle here that included having a potato every day.
I love videos where there's another guest with him because when they both take a bite it's like:

I think if you watch enough of Mark’s videos (and I have watched hundreds over years), you can tell when he actually likes something vs just being ok and polite.
In this case I am sure for most of the dishes were the latter. No doubt everything was fresh and ingredients were high quality but only time he (predictably) had any authentic “I love this dish” reaction was when the one with the fried chili.
In the closing he basically sounded like marketing for restaurant and trying to convince himself, more than us the viewer the place was really good.
Most of dishes honestly weren’t that creative like choc banana pancakes or vegan burgers or pizza without regular cheese or eggplant lasagna, etc. Those you can get anywhere. And the one that had promise - the khao soi burger seemed like they both thought it was mediocre with just a small amount of sauce reflecting that flavor.
If you want to see Mark really like something just see his avg. southern Thai food videos or Kerala or Pakistan, those reactions which are authentic love are definitely not exaggerated.
