And what about our handprints in the cave?
An ancient mural drew Picasso’s tears
where artists’ crowded hands are lipstick shades,
unchanged as coral through the passing years.
    Now Instagram became our monolith.
Its silver black reflects our future night.
With decadence so vain and ominous
it films our packed reflections fueled by likes.
But gardens grow to let their daisies fall,
and lockers long to shed your photographs.
Those aren’t your posters on the breakroom wall.
No longer palms are pressed in berries mashed.
So paint your hand and let your fingers stretch,
and understand our breath and prints are fresh

Ok a couple things...hello Liz...so I noticed your first book was ...The Midnight Library, by Matt Haig...and it got me thinking..hmm..why do I know that name ..so I just checked my book shelves and YES..there it is a unread Matt Haig book called ...HOW TO STOP TIME...have you heard of that one ??. I'm going to read that one right after the holidays as to do a compare contrast kinda thing against The Midnight Library review you do whenever you finish 😊😊. .secondly..omg love your wood stove..it's very unique..I have a 1930 potbelly coal/wood stove that I was given years ago , I use it all the time..LOVE IT...😊..and lastly...looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the other books you attained , never heard of them. .interesting 😊. Oh who plays guitar 🎸??

I haven’t heard of How to Stop Time! But I’ll have a look at it if I like the Midnight Library 🙌🏻
Thanks! I love the wood stove too. Unfortunately, we have to replace it with a newer one due to regulations. But the new one is beautiful as well 😊
Both my husband and I play the guitar, but I’m quite rusty to be honest 🤣

I like multiple points of view and short chapters, so maybe I'm the weirdo. Then again, I'm inclined to think it's the person who eats lemons like oranges 😀. Seriously though, I love short chapters to quicken the pace and build momentum, but medium chapters to get a bit more character depth and reflect on what's happening. I like the wider world view and different opinions with multiple points of view, but it's great to really understand what makes somebody tick in a single POV. I hope you enjoy Before the Coffee Gets Cold and The Midnight Library. Having read both, I'm interested to hear your thoughts. I've put As long As the Lemon Trees Grow on hold at the library for January - it sounds a bit heavy for Christmas. I'm looking forward to The Strength of the Few (sequel to The Will of the Many) although it won't be out until early 2024. I really like your sense of humour and had a laugh at the bloopers. Good luck with your channel!

Haha, touché! 😂🙈 I do agree with you that that the variety of chapter length can help with the pacing, but I feel like there's so much more in the writing that can help with that as well. I mean I don't want an 800 pages long book with only 20 chapters in it (Or do I?). Variety is definitely the key ;)
Thanks for the recommendations! The Will of the Many is already on my TBR, but it just might be moved up a bit now :D
Haha, my humour is very typical Danish. Glad you like the bloopers. I always have a laugh editing them too 🙈

Loved The Midnight Library when I read it in 2022. Really endearing book. I really enjoyed one of his other novels, Humans, too. Your other pickups seem really interesting! Hope you enjoy them.
I also empathise with the inability to decide whether I'm pronouncing a word correctly or not, and I'm a native english speaker!
Hope you had a great Christmas and have a joyful New Year.

I'm really looking forward to reading The Midnight Library as everyone have so much praise for the book - just like you :D
Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one having trouble with the English language 🙈
Hope you had a great Christmas too and have a blast of a New Year too. ✨

@literatureliz91 Thank you I'm from the North east of England where a lot of our dialect and slang has a Scandinavian slant to it, Denmark to be precise. So that might have something to do with it!

@@BFGMik wait, what? I need more info 😅

@@literatureliz91 Well, the Anglo-Saxons invaded England and settled a 1000 years ago. A lot of those people came from northern germany and denmark. English is Germanic at route because of the anglo-Saxons, but alot of the older words and vowel sounds have disappeared, except for certain areas, where it is stronger in their dialect and words. Where I live is one of those areas. Where we say 'hyem' to mean home (close to the danish 'hjem') or 'bairn' for 'child' (close to the danish 'barn'), with a lot of other examples. Language is a great thing :D

@@BFGMik Oh, there's a little bit of history popping up now in my memory. I didn't know they settled though!
I know there are other words in the English language that are related to Danish words. Like knife is "kniv" in Danish though the k sound has disappeared in the English adaptation. As well as window is "vindue" in Danish.
      I guess I'm a little bit of a language nerd myself 🙈
Thank you so much for sharing. Love fun facts like these :D
