I think that the left and right hemisphere, which is conected by one of the least understood areas the corpus callosum, is a contributing factor for personality disorders when their are nuerological, physical or chemical issues, I also believe that these components along with microtubules (Sir Roger Penrose has shown this info) is what gives self awareness.
Insightful. You really see these two perspectives in the right and left side of the art and architecture in a properly designed Orthodox Church. They have understood this long before cognitive science caught on.
As an engineering student , I don’t learn much about psychology. I’m curious what someone who’s studying psychology would recommend learning about. What are some big ideas of psychology that have helped you that you wouldn’t know otherwise?
Let me simplify it for you, you are an engineering student. Ten years from now you might become a manager. You are major in psychology? Ten years from now you might rally people to fight for your cause or climb the social ladder in way you couldn't imagine, moreover you are extremely calm almost too calm like a psychopath because you can tell a con artist from geniune interaction and you understand the reason behind every person behavior. Now this is a skill that leader need. Combine psychology with your engineer degree, you can even become CEO of the company you are working in 10 years. This is not just a skill, this is pure cheat code.
Uhhhhh that Ying and Yang is not a good representation of the Taoist, that comes from Laotzu and men like Confucius, they explain the Tao, or Dao, in a much much larger way of life than that. Lao wrote the Tao te Ching, and Confucius wrote the 4 winds and 5 classics, they talk about money, principles ethics and more so the flow of life. This is a more of a polar opposites thing, which isn’t the real teachings of their ways, Ying does mean south side of the mountain and Yang means north side, so of course as base you must always look at the double sided coin, good, bad, rich poor, right wrong, which is all he is seeing, but it covers way more than that. This was some of the problems of the western world, they look at things in a more pragmatic way, not a metaphorical and mystical components. Same as they’re ancient philosophers of Europe, like the Roman stoics and epicureans, which Jordan is doing in a modern form, they take more things as literal, not see the esoteric value of it. One man can tell you the biology of a plant, how many leaves it has, its height of the plant, how the roots get nutrients from the soil, but they don’t see or have value for the plant, like Jim rhon once said, some people are busy studying the roots, others are simply picking and eating the fruit. Now it’s good to atleast know the components of something, but there is more value in just using it is as is. Here’s philosopher thinkers like stoics and Jordan calling it science. The sun which gives off vitamin D ionizes with the soil giving 23 vitamins and minerals from A, B, C, D, which the water called H20, than gives nutrients to the roots, travels through the stem cells of the shaft, which is made up of boron and zinc, which cultivates the leaves that pollen’s seems through and promotes germination to give off the fruit, some mangoes some papayas named after so and so. -Thats called studying the roots. While God, whether you’re taking Yaweh from the Bible, or as the Taoist believe in mystical celestial and terrestrial beings or entities will say. God: Hey Adam, I have created a blue print with the things around you, put the seed in the ground, water it, and than eat, those fruits also have seeds, if you want more, repeat the process. -That’s called picking the fruit. Thats basically what Laotzu wrote in the Tao te Ching, one of the chapters says, life is very simple, but some people insist on complicating things. That’s all Jordan did here, and most people from the west do, they either try to solve problems or they make more problems. Just eat the damn fruit, and go on doing other things, other wise youll be stuck wondering why a lot of other things are not working out for you while other people are advancing in many of those fields of life. But Jordan is awesome, because he studies all walks, and because of his studies he gets to emulate what he studies. You study animals you think and behave like an animal, you study humans you think and operate like those humans you study, you study Gods you think and try to mold yourself to those ways. That’s how it works.
Sir hope all is well, would you ever sit down with a basic poor single mama on disability or are we not equal, I have many common thoughts n knowledge without the education or power of money.. Getting over looked due to education or financial means is by far cruel like we only if there is something we can offer materialisticly or monetarily. You have helped me in many ways, but I know I can’t afford to travel or pay to talk to you and I guess it’s not my heart to wonder why we don’t all have opportunities.
But modern scientists will pride themselves to know everything more than ancient civilizations, to give you an example they didn’t even know until 150 years ago that bacteria was killing patients on the operating table if they didn’t wash their hands in running water yet the Jewish people in the Torah knew to cleanse their hands when dealing with these kind of situations
Because common sense tells you, or intuition. Common sense has died in this world. I noticed a while back. it's dying. They can't see the obvious anymore. A lot of the answers arent complicated, and they are right under our noses. We are to busy projecting our attention to the outside world instead of the inside worlds inside of ourselves. Ive noticed a lot the more intellectual a person is the less common sense they have. Why? I know why do you?
These videos would gain more views if the thumbnail was a picture from ghe actual lecture. Im willing to argue that many of Jordan's fans have left since his contet shifted to mainly focus on podcasts
Thanks Mr Jordan
Your teachings are my sustaining energy in this lonely world
If only he could sing!
I hope it gets less lonely for you.
Hell is other people my dear. Find yourself, breathe and exist. There is too much peace in loneliness
I had a wonderful A&P teacher in nursing school. He, like you, made the human body what it is. Fascinating, miraculous, and beautiful in every way!
Brilliant and easy to understand, I love Dr. Peterson's lectures!
😂”…not too Pandora Boxy…” 😅

Such an awesome description of music and dancing...I needed that today!
Being adequately engaged and gradually transformed by a good conversation-also by an engaging lecture such as this!
Music brings order into the caos, go ahead play it loud 🙏✨🙏✨
Such a timely video!
Yes the liberals and conservatives really need to listen to each other and take turns!
Totally shared this video on a channel where I moderate. We were just talking about the ☯ this morning (11/13/2024). Great content as always. 🤗

I haven’t watched this yet, but I really hope Jordan give due credit to Iain McGilchrist.
I wish he taught me in university

Did the students at the U of T realize and appreciate what they had ?
🎉🤓 brilliance
It's like... Pfff, some things are obvious 😅😂
Sumerian symbols, egyptian, aztec, indian. Crazy how they knew so long ago

Oh look i just cut it in half, reverse the hemispheres and completely debunk this theory
