- Matt and Steve Bourie, from the American Casino Guide book, give video poker strategy tips while playing five-play Ultimate X Bonus Poker. They play the game in a training version which coaches them on how to make the mathematically correct play in any given situation. They then play the same game in a 10-play version without the training feature and then play a few hands of 100-play Bonus Poker with a Super Times Pay wheel feature. .

You caught me in the middle of a sip of coffee "Swing for the dumpster" ... almost lost it.
I didn't know the tip about dropping your bet to 5 coins when leaving a machine. I usually just play until I don't get multipliers. Thanks. That will help me a lot!
You are most welcome. Some people are not aware that they should be playing off those multipliers before leaving the machine by only playing five coins. Glad that you learned that tip and it should be helpful to you in the future to save you some money.
If I get 2 good dealt hands in a row and get ahead in Ultimate X, I know it’s time to quit! If I don’t quit when I’m 50-100 dollars ahead I lose my bank roll every time. Maybe just my experience but I have a lot of hours into this game. Thanks for the tip about burning off the multipliers at reduced credits. Steve thanks to your videos I play video poker because of you, I never knew how much I would enjoy it.

This is all fine and good. I've tried playing for the multiplier then praying the next hand would be worth a crap. For me, it's worked out a lot less often than if you just play the hands as normal. Oh, and play deuces. 😎

Where can I get the strategy to these kinds of games? Are there tools to generating strategy charts or do I just learn it with experience?

Great thanks. Hi I’m Steve from Jersey so Atlantic City is my regular. 1st I love you guys and you give great information. So ceasars and it’s properties in ac with Covid and now a big renovation have changed some games and setups, so do you know if vpfree will update their site, games I’ve used at their advice to my eye have disappeared. And this one I already thought through but just as a double check, I was playing dream card deuces wild recently, every time I was given a pair and then a dream card they would give a deuce, on the fly thinking I would change it to 3rd if the actual pair, thinking I wasn’t going for 4 deuces and it would make more deuces available for the remaining 2 cards, but it shouldn’t matter since no matter what you need deuces or the other 2 cards so it doesn’t really matter which one you have. Just random thoughts thanks
vpfree2.com relies on volunteers to update their information, so I guess it won't be updated unless someone sends in those changes. I would assume that the dream card deuce would be the correct card to receive in those situations.
Do you keep a dealt full house? What I usually do is keep it if I have no multipliers and go for 4 of a kind if I do have multipliers. Is this correct?
Only in double double bonus (or more volatile) would you throw away the full house. But in UX it depends on the multiplier. If you have a 12x on everything the expected value of keeping the 3 aces of a full house is 3898 and the EV of keeping the entire full house is only 2059.
If you drop it to a 4x on everything the EV of the 3 aces is 1354 and the full house EV is 1169 so it gets much closer the lower the multiplier
If you drop it to a 2x on all hands ot turns to a coin flip, 3 aces EV is 718.91 and full house is 718.66
Thanks so much for the replies. I usually play double double bonus UX. In your example you used aces, but if it's 3 of 5-K I'm guessing the "coin flip" would be with even higher multipliers.
So with no multipliers the EV of a 33388 full house is 493.67 and just the 3s is 271.48. If you make it all 12x the full house is still better at 2968.67 and the 3s is only 2344.0
