    I'm a veteran VP player, ACG member and a Cowboy Slots fan/supporter. I'm glad to see you join together and share your expertise. When in Vegas I play VP about 14 hours a day, but now with Brantley's info I'm looking forward, for a little variety, to expanding into the pure old style slots. Maybe I can have the best of both worlds! Thanks for this video, everything you do Brantley is first class!!! (I love my poker chip btw) :)

    My main problem is whether we should always go for the possible Royal Flush or take money in the bank such as two or three cards to a RF or a natural Jack pair or better. Thanks!

    It would be really nice if you could do a follow up episode for the more advanced players discussing some of the following:
    When do you switch machines after not getting many winning hands?
    When do you increase the denom after playing a lower denom and increasing your bankroll?
    How much bankroll should you start with in relation to the denom you are playing?
    Should you stop playing a machine after it hits a jackpot and move on to another machine?
    Does a machine stop paying larger jackpots shortly after a jackpot hits until it recoups the money bringing it back to the payback percentage?

      They answered your last 2 questions. VP machines have to play like a 52 card deck. It's as random as that, doesn't matter if a machine just hit a jackpot/royal.

      I don’t think it matters. I hit a Royal Flush after only playing for 20 minutes. And 6 minutes later, it dealt me 4 of a kind with a kicker (3s with an Ace). I couldn’t believe it! It got cold after that! I gave back $500. Another player tried it and ate his lunch.

      Advanced players know that switching machines makes just as much difference as rubbing your lucky goblin or any other foolishness.
      Increasing bet size is a complex, but excellent, question. A great deal depends on your edge. As your edge dips below 0.7%, the bankroll requirements go up quite a bit. Roughly speaking, I'd want a minimum of $50,000 to play $5 a hand. I'd also want this as purely. VP money, not living expense money>. If I do start well, I do not suddenly start spending. Instead, I try to focus on building a bankroll and if I more than double it, I will look at betting higher denominations. However, in most places you usually have a limited selection of good games and different denominations.
      Hitting a jackpot means NOTHING. I have hit 3 royals on one machine within about 5 hours.
      No machines, not even slots, are programmed to reduce payouts to pay out less once a jackpot has been hit.

    I have played VP for years now. I never won anything of substance on slots but I have had more Royal Flushes than anyone I know. And I don't play often since retirement. I once got a royal by tossing a pair of 10's and holding a Jack of clubs! I play $1 denomination almost exclusively. Most recent win was last week. $4000 on a game I usually avoid, Bonus Poker Deluxe.

    Whenever I sit at a game king poker machine, I'll go to each game and play it once just to see which game gave me a payback then I will play that game a few round before going back doing one spin per game. One time I made a game where I couldn't switch til I hit 2 Aces then once I hit 2 Aces I could switch to the next game. You just have to make sure you know your game so you don't screw it up.

    Great show! Question: On a progressive Royal Flush 5*$0.25 a jackpot of $1199 is untaxed, but $1200 is taxable, making your return much lower. Is there a prog. value you will look for to account for this?

  • @zappyeats2579

    10:25 if the random number generator gives the all possible outcomes on deal the 2mil number would be accurate. If on draw the number generator is still shuffling till you hit draw then there is in reality almost an infinite number of possibilities. Odds would change based off what the cards you are drawing too.

    Video poker in Washington state is the same as any other slot machine. All 5 cards are predetermined on the 1st draw. It does not matter what cards you hold or draw after the first play.

    • @SlotYogi
      @SlotYogi 2 года назад

      Correct. Washington slots are unique in the country, to mimic the way scratch-its (sold by the state) pay. My first slot was Deuces Wild and I came to RUclips to learn how to play and learned why the genie came out (a lot ! LOL) to correct my poor picks so it could pay me what it was programmed to pay me! I did accidentally do a max bet on it once and got 4 Deuces. In WA, you DO have a higher percentage chance of winning with a higher bet (says so on the pay table pages), because it's like you bought a handful of scratch-its not just one.

    • @Veaseify

      Its about penalty cards - so if you have A,Q,J,2,3 you would play the QJ because you never play 3 to a straight in Double Double Bonus except K,Q,J and when you throw away the 2,3 it lessens the chances of making a hand with the A. Here the 2 and 3 are 'penalty cards'. If it was A,Q,J,8,2 you would hold the A because you never play a Q,J,8 inside straight draw but throwing away the 8 lessens your chances of making a winning hand with Q,J. Here the 8 is the 'penalty card'

    Any comment on gaming law and how VP machines deal the cards. I have been playing VP for a living for decades and yet this year I am getting destroyed despite winning a couple juicy drawings. I am truly beginning to wonder if the cards are being dealt randomly. I know slot machines have some unusual tricks when it comes to symbol generation, such as the well known case with 12 coins where you pick until you match 3. These yield the lowest jackpot nearly every time. This is because the pictures mean nothing and the result is determined in advance. Has video poker suddenly become rigged, possibly due clandestine changes in gaming regulations.

    The one thing that I'm so confused about is why are DDB and TDB more volatile or how are they more volatile compared with Bonus Poker or Jakes or Better? IF the chip is random and you are still working with a 52 card deck....the only thing that should be different is the payback percentages... Why do the good hands come out more often on Jacks or Better and less often on DDB or other games? This has to be a different program and not truly random then... Also... why are 3 line or 5 or 10 line video poker games also worse to play than single line? How about Ultimate X? Still working with a random chip and 52 card deck, but these versions are ridiculously hard to win at. Please help me understand this. How is the programming different if still using a 52 card random shuffle deck? Thanks.

    • @russlehman2070
      @russlehman2070 2 года назад +11

      The hands come out with the same frequency. DDB and TDB are more volatile because they pay more on four of a kinds but pay less on two pair, and in the case of TDB, three of a kind. So with the more volatile games, you are getting paid more on rare hands but less on common hands. So with DDB and TDB, you will lose a lot more between the four of a kinds, but make that up (on averagage) when the four of a kinds hit. But if you hit a dry spell on four of a kinds, the DDB and TDB sill suck your money away like a vacuum cleaner.

    • @OceanLife772
      @OceanLife772 Год назад

      @@russlehman2070But IF the Card selection of 52 cards is “Random”, why does the payout matter? IF it is Random shuffle, it shouldn’t matter what the payout is-right? So are you saying TDB poker is programmed to control the frequency of payouts Vs. Randomly? TIA

    • @joshfox73
      @joshfox73 5 месяцев назад

      @@OceanLife772 so the the frequency of hands is almost the same between Jacks or Better and Double Double Bonus, but the Payout is different, specifically 2 pair which you can get roughly every 8 hands. Since you are paid 1 to 1 on the higher volatile games like DDB and TDB for 2 pair vs 2 to 1 for the same two pair on Jacks or Better you wont see significant fluctuations in your bankroll - which is why they are less volatile.
      The benefit to playing DDB or TDB is the higher payout for the various types of 4 of a kinds. If you get lucky and hit one then you get rewarded with a much higher payout
      JOB pays 125 to 1 for any four of a kind and you would get one about every 425 hands, on DDB the payout ranges from 250 to 1 to 2000 to 1 depending on combination and the frequency varies from one every 610 hands (5-K's) to 16235 hands (Aces with Kicker)
      Basically it comes down to do you want more frequent small wins and a smaller big win vs many break even wins and larger big win.

  • @nachodon
    @nachodon 2 года назад +5

    these guys don’t know much. Of course the chips aren’t truly random. Here’s why; at a bar customers playjng 25 cent vp are low ev for casino sucking down free drinks so there’s no question there has been a change to the “randomness” to bring it more in line with reel slot payouts.
    Don’t tell me the regulators are watching. They have no way to know if the chips are truly random or not or if the chip that they say are in the machines are really actually the same as they claim.
    Game manufacturers are not worried about being fair to the player. They are worried about pleasing the casinos want the lower tier lower denom players to lose their money faster or transition to lower ev games. I truly believe most casinos have a disdain for traditional vp players and have made adjustments over the years w/ the manufacturers to take more from the player.
    Get an discreet anon interview with a chip designer for igt if you can and I bet you’ll hear a different story than “of course the casinos don’t cheat”. The casinos don’t need to cheat when the manufacturer is designing games tailored to how fast or slow they want to Hoover your $$.

    LOL I like the stats and the payback percentages, but all in all I still lose in video poker (jacks or better) using the proper strategy. I can probably play it right 96% of the time and still lose. I know it has something to do with bankroll to actually get the 98% plus payback, but I do not want to push 4k through a machine to break even. That being said, I can play for very very long time though on bankroll for poker vs slots, and I have won or come up ahead a handful of times due to a 4 of a kind hit and couple straight flushes in there, the royal still eludes me. Just feels like a slow bleed for me.

    Should I always hold the cards that the machine automatically shows? Or is it better for me to choose myself which cards to hold?

      Check them yourself. People checking are volunteers and probably experienced. Compared to slots, even the lower payback machines might be better to play, so they might not be reporting on, say 7/5 Bonus, that could still be decent to play. Also, the casino can change the games. Jackpot Gents has shown some of the newer, fancy games on their channel recently.

      Traditionally VPFree2 did not like posting about anything less than 98.9% games (full pay DDB) and people were not “obligated” to report games like 7/5 bonus or 8/5 double super times pay bonus deluxe which are 98% games.

    What's a quad or kicker? Also explaining games we're not going to play wastes time. Ultimatex?Whatever it's called, was explained. I could not retain any of it. Now Matt is walking through winPoker? Time wasters
