I am torn on the modern maiko and geiko, I suppose they have to move with the times to survive, but that they used to be the province of the elite and to visit the most prestigious tea houses, you had to be introduced and an impressive person (deep pockets and a large wallet) now pretty much anyone that wants to pay the fee can have time with them. It is very good, but also, a little sad.
