@@skyline3230 ya know, Republic Of Turkey has been settled in 1923 and Anatolia was the land of Turks since 1071. Well i don’t know what “Batman” means in Old Turkish or other Turkish languages (Kazakh, Turkmen, Uyghur, Tatar, Kyrgyz, Chuvash…). But i am pretty sure it has nothing to do with a rich orphan in a bat costume :)

@@skyline3230 i looked it up. It is predicted that the word “Batman” for our city is coming from the word “bakmak” which means “to look”. Here is a river in Batman called “Batman river”. It is said that every passanger used to stop and look at the beautiful river and that’s why it was called Batman now. Then the city got the name from the river. The word “bakmak” became “Batman” by time as Turkish changed, like every spoken language. But these are all predictions ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
