“Gly”: We finished documenting a location a few days ago that turned out to be the best mine I’ve ever explored in my entire abandoned mine exploring life. You will not believe the artifacts we found. Heck, I still don’t believe it! That will be episode 101 coming out on May 15th.

This was a very exciting and challenging mine this week. It can be seen from the debris that the failed collar has concealed a great deal of exciting things. It is great that you were able to document this and reveal what remains to be seen of it. The work that you both do is of immense importance, for which the people who enjoy the fruits of the harvest of these mines are much appreciative.
@@ravenbarsrepairs5594 That makes sense. I was just imagining how it would feel to climb down, untethered. into the dark abyss of the underground. From that perspective, it makes it a bad day a bit easier to deal with.
Mining was (and still is) a very tough job, no doubt about it, but don't dismiss the challenges of the modern working culture. The years I spent digging trenches, pouring concrete and later lumbering were tough physically, but I felt much, much better mentally. I tried being a waiter once, quit after 2 weeks because it was too stressful. I got burnout after working corporate IT for a while - the responsibility, deadlines and constant feeling that you don't actually know what the hell you're doing because of the complexity ground me down day by day. Modernity is tough, too, just in different ways.

That way you have stable comms and you have a buddy system set at the last safest point to make an escape/rescue much easier and safer for both parties God forbid it is ever needed. Maybe a couple powered ascenders are in the future?

You should carry a couple of 3' ratchet straps, so when you have sketchie objects, you secure them for safety
Imagine having to climb those ladders to go to and from work, without safety equipment.. And in modernity, everyone thinks they have tough jobs.
They probably used man carts on the rail rather than climb the ladders if they could avoid it. It's a matter of efficiency.
