Thank you. I just moved a few month ago. New house lawn is just shy of .25 acre. I'll be watering it without a sprinkler system too. Appreciate ya watching!
Thanks for the mention! Appreciate the helpful video and real world example of how get it done. I definitely over think my watering, so it’s awesome to see how someone can get great results with a simple and straight forward process. Where I live in Texas we have had under 2 inches rain for all of 2020 so far. Last year we had probably 10-15 inches in the same time. I think I need to stop chasing perfection and just be happy my lawn as a whole is even surviving this drought. I’m starting to look into soil wetting agents now. The cheapest pro level option I’ve found are tournament ready pellets for about $12 each. Each 6-8 oz pellet (depending on which one you pick) covers 16,000 square foot. You can skip buying the expensive applicator gun and just dissolve the pellet (or cut off bits of it at a time a weigh them) with water and spray through a hose end or a pump sprayer before watering it in a little. This might be something worth looking into.. shipping is expensive through R&R, so I think I paid around $30 to get one to my door. It’s supposed to help water penetrate the soil, move within the soil, and hold inside the soil.
Absolutely man. You're welcome. Thanks again for the suggestion and patience. This was a fun video to make. And don't sweat it, I've over thought lawn care many a times. Especially when I first got started and didn't know what I was doing. It's easy to do. Everything I read and watched online just beat things into me like I HAD to do this and HAD to do that. Of course, a lot of it wasn't financially possible for me, so I started only doing the best that I could. I soon realized that things were working out great, and I wasn't following the "rules" to a T. That's when I started really enjoying it and not worrying so much. I hope I can pass that along to other folks, because there wasn't anyone showing it to me. And WOW! Only 2 inches? That stinks. Sorry man. That definitely has to make it tough to keep a nice lawn, so yeah, you should be super happy to make it through that kind of drought. Sounds like you could definitely benefit from some sort of wetting agent program. Good luck with that. Let me know how it works. Really appreciate ya watching and your support. If you have any other videos you want to see, please don't hesitate to let me know. 👍
Thank you for the awesome video! I’m first time single house owner, so lots of things to learn. I’m using two melnor oscillating sprinklers(cover 4500sf), but mine covers so little. My yard is about 9000sf, but it takes forever to water all four side of yard. Also I’m using two 50ft 5/8 hoses, but they are leaking. Maybe that’s the reason? Need your advice!
You're welcome. Congrats on becoming a homeowner. Leaking hoses can definitely cause lower pressure resulting in less output. Running two at once can also cause less coverage from each sprinkler. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
@@BudgetLawnsyeah, gotta figure it out.😂 Also fighting for the weed. Hired professional, because the builder didn’t clean the dirt before putting the sod.
Just depended on weather. Typically summer would see an increase of around 30-40 bucks but usually only for the months of June, July and maybe august. I’m usually blessed to get those summertime afternoon showers that give me the free stuff. Thanks for watching.
I like the Nelson square sprinkler for my back yard in Tempe, AZ. You do have to move it more frequently but I don’t mind lol. I hose water my front putting green. Schedule is every 3 days in the desert.
I get pretty good results and satisfaction laying out linked soaker hoses and keeping my Bermuda under matting moist. Moving and snaking my soaker hoses around is a lot of fun.
Thanks man. No I haven't. I really enjoy watering, so this process works great for me for only 2 times a week (if no rain). I'm sure one day I'll get tired of doing it and look for a more hands off option. Haha, most people think I'm crazy.
I actually did the tuna can test to my lawn this morning. Had the timer set to start at 430am and run each head (4 heads) for 15 min each. Set for 3 cycles 430,530 and 630. Tuna can only had 1/2" in each after a total of 3 hours. Wow, now I realise how much I have been under watering for the past couple years. On the mowing side I'm not playing this year. I mowed front 25 times and back 27 times which started March 29th. Let me see where this takes me this year. Things are looking good so far.
Sweet. It's crazy how long you have to water, huh? It doesn't seem like that's how it would be but it is unfortunately. Right on man. You're killing it. It's amazing how far mowing a lot can take ya. Keep it up!
@@BudgetLawns Thanks bud. Just spent the day fixing my pavers that run across the street as in my video. 4 ' 5 gallon buckets of sand to get them all straight. Wow, so much better now to mow with the earthwise without hitting the blades on the pavers. What a day bit so worth it.

That’s a good question. I really don’t know. Never thought about it. I imagine the larger hose may provide slightly more output as more water travels through it. But it sounds like you’ve got to go with what you’re working with so I wouldn’t worry about it. Sorry I don’t have a definitive answer for ya. Appreciate ya watching.
