My own personal wishlist include: A animation style similar to both the Spumco stuff and the Games Animation stuff. A combination of the two would be nice, considering how smooth Prehistoric Stimpy and Lair of the Lummox was. More shorts, like Dr. Stupid and the commercials. The return of fan favorite characters and maybe some original one-off characters too. Some more original tunes, considering the ones made for the show slap. And the return of both space and fairy tale themed episodes.
I would also love to see some shorts, but I would be perfectly fine if commercials without Ren And Stimpy would not be returning. Doctor Stupid and farewell/secret headquarters segments would be great.
I just want it to be a "fine" cartoon if its fine, at least it won't hurt the series anymore its so sad to see my favorite cartoon get a very little fan base that is on life support
I would say that anything not outright bad would help it since the shows legacy is at a terrible state right now with John K and APC being brought up way more than the original
The Animaniacs fandom was super dead until the reboot was released. It cultivated a very large fanbase and nobody could escape viral clips. Hopefully the same will happen for ren and stimpy. It would be awesome to see a large ren and stimpy fan base for the show
I couldn't agree more with what you said. It sucked that John K father said he didn't like the space episodes and told him not to make anymore. What makes him get to decide what he does? Even if John K is still sick.
Only for those segments because John felt too compelled to do what he said since he was hard on him. It was in a letter he got from him about being impressed his show was a hit only to say just that.
I sometimes wonder WHY John K still looked up to his dad despite the abuse his dad put him through, but then again, he IS a boomer. Like, he was literally born in the baby boom in the 50s, so him looking up to his abuser and turning out like him too isn't that surprising. The 50s and 60s were an era where mental health was stigmatized and people were incredibly ignorant as to how abuse affects people. The characters George Liquor and Anthony’s dad for example were based off John’s own stereotypical 50’s hypermasculine father who never supported his creativity and hated that he became an animator instead of a “real man” like him. Also, in Ren Seeks Help, John’s dad even got to voice Ren’s dad for the episode.
one thing we know abt the reboot is who’s working on it, we got a detailed list of the artists and animators a few months back and in that department it’s looks great, some veterans like bob jaques of carbunkle is back as well as some new ppl, like @lotusfishicoot a fan artist who got hired on the reboot, he’s Incredibly good at drawing the characters/style
I cautiously exited for this reboot, I'm mostly worried that it won't take risks with the tone or characters and will play it safe. I hope that doesn't happen, but the world has changed a lot since the 90s.
It would be nice if they continued making the episode "Life Sucks", that Adult Party Cartoon episode that was never finished, it's good to have another chance to make that episode.
I am a simple man, I only want a few things. Season 1-2 animation style, more space, story book, and untamed world episodes, and just be faithful to the original Ren and Stimpy.

All i want to see from the ren and stimpy reboot is returning fan favorite characters like mr. Horse or sven and a ren freakout episodes thats it that's what i want from the reboot, no matter how bad the reboot is i am glad to see ren and stimpy back again. John k isn't involved in this project, so there is a high chance of the reboot being good. The only thing I am afraid from the reboot is adding new unnecessary character schtik, a girl character that is bland and dosen't fit in ren and stimpy at all. That's how fairly odd parents lost its charm and I don't want the same thing happening to ren and stimpy. But still, i have high hopes for the reboot.
I can definitely see them adding a young girl character as their permanent owner of the show which would honestly kind of suck no matter if the character is bland or not since that’s just not a thing in the original show, except for George Liquor and a couple random episodes. I hope that if they need to add a female mainstay character it’s some animal side character.
I hate how APC looked with the black outlined digital animation. They should use cels for this reboot but I know they won’t. I prefer paintings to digital any day. John K owns George Liquor so he’s definitely not coming back. They’ll have to invent some new characters for this one. Maybe they’ll give R&S a female sidekick who will be very annoying I’ll bet.

Funnily enough, I lost interest as a teen and my interest tanked BIG time following the allegations against John K. But I kinda found myself getting right back into Ren and Stimpy recently and it really helps that a lot of other people were involved in the series that weren't giant assholes or creeps. Even if John K was working on the reboot, George Liquor still probably wouldn't return because the whole reason that the APC episode The Wilderness Adventure didn't get made is because John didn't want to lose the rights to George.
Real shame since I really liked him as an antagonist. However, even if he did end up coming back for the reboot, who would voice him since his VA passed some time after Cans Without Labels released.
I am definitely gonna review it and it will most likely be after APC by default since I doubt that it will be out before I’m done with all retrospectives just based on how little we have gotten so far.

Its of course mostly gonna be down to the execution. Like if there is a great Stimpy’s Invention 2 I’m down for it but if it’s not great it’s just gonna feel like it’s unnecessary. I’m down to see them try it but maybe not in the first season with the limited episode count.
You have to keep the old atmosphere, no innovation and modern crap need it .. I loved Ren Boomer's old man self, I want this Ren in the future please :) Nothing needs to change, about Ren character be sadistic evil cruel and endlessly vile as always and Stimpy be like Stimpy !
For me, episodes should start off relatively normal, then start kicking into madness and insanity by the losing or middle of the first act, by the second, and near the end of third act with an even more bizarre ending. Thats my Ren and Stimpy I grew up with.

The animation is amazing in APC, some episodes of the original used digital ink-and-paint also.

I think their attempt at a Fire Dogs 2 would've turned out better than John K's attempt, that's for sure.
