    This was an okay way to start season 3, The Announcer Salesman or “It’s that man Again” is a fun character, especially when he narrates episodes.

    Its a shame that the games animation seasons get dismissed just cuz they weren't made by Spumco. While not all of them are bangers, most of them are still good in my opinion

    This was the the last episode to be writtem by Vincent Waller before he moved to SpongeBob SquarePants , who is now the showrunner of that
    Also, starting this episode and after John K got fired, Billy West voices Ren.

    Season 3 is when things really get interesting to me. When the show became run by Games animation. Its interesting to see how it evolved (or 'devolved') over the next few years. I wonder if Billy West got double pay for doing both characters (probably not) but he doesn't do a terrible job as Ren, although its definitely not as good John's voice. And the scripts become less and less zany and more formularic and the animation declines as we move toward the mid 90s but there are still a few gems sprinkled throughout.

    • @Randomlad.0737
      @Randomlad.0737 Год назад

      I think the show became less Zany and demented due to Games Animation writing the Scripts first then doing the Storyboards instead of Storyboards being done first like the Spumco era.

    Ironically I also think the show also got a lot more gruesome as it moved into the later seasons because they were going for a lot more cheap gross out gags as opposed to character driven humor. Even though they kicked John out for being too "gross" but the show ended up even more disturbing as a result. And we get Ren & Stimpy doing stuff thats way out of character and acting a lot more violent too...

    • @yosefdemby8792
      @yosefdemby8792 Год назад +4

      They didn't fire Kricfalusi for being too violent and gross. It was because he repeatedly went overbudget, always missed deadlines, and created a hostile working relationship with Nickelodeon.

      They did it at Spümcø as well. John Kricfalusi hates seeing characters have huge index fingers because it's overused. But Thad Komorowski quipped they took it from Warner Brothers cartoon director Chuck Jones.

      John Kricfalusi explained in a few commentaries how when he was storyboarding a scene from Stimpy's Big Day, he drew Ren at the mailbox with little Us for eyes because he was rushing. The tiny thumbnail drawing was then enlarged to animation drawing size, and then somebody (he suspected Chris Reccardi) drew closed eyes as little Us, and now it's in every cartoon he saw. He claimed it was his mistake, and that it was the biggest influence on animation he ever made.
      But cartoon characters had closed eyes that look like little Us for decades. For example, you can see that in the 1941 Mickey Mouse cartoon, "The Little Whirlwind."

    I agree that this episode is just average all the way around. It's somewhat enjoyable, but not all that interesting. I think Games Animation is trying too hard to create the same intensity Spumco did, and a good example of that is when Ren gets sucked into the vaccuum. It just doesn't hit the same, but that scene was still good. I also enjoyed when Ren laughed after disposing of the toast salesman, and also Ren snapping at the end of the episode. For Game's first episode, it's underwhelming but not bad. Rank: 7/10
