  • This is a copy of the promotional video that Mooney Aircraft did for the 301. Roy LoPresti is the narrator.
    I believe this was in the 1983 time frame.

    It's so crazy because I pass by that airport all the time and it looks so different now.

    Thank you, David, for sharing this precious history document. Even a Brasilian country guy like me knows about the great work of the genius Roy Lopresti. I guess you feel a lot of pride!!

    David thanks for posting this great piece of aviation history that includes your dad and Mooney. Now that they are back it would be great to see this come out for sale.

    When you hear the name Roy LoPresti, or the name LoPresti in general, one word has to instantly come to mind and that is SPEED. Superb engineering and good looks. Good looks in his design I am referring to. You can look at an airplane head on from a quarter mile away and know that Roy LoPresti had an influence on its design.

    Think TBM700, parts of it live on in the wing of the TBM.

    Thank you David, I enjoyed the video. I think it would have been a great success, we only have to look at how well Piper have done with what is now their M350 and how it is has evolved into the M600.

      Yes, it is turbo-charged................how do you think it can achieve 25,000ft and pressurized?

    Too bad they didnt have deep enough pockets, they clearly wanted to be an innovative company but didnt have the resources to pull it off. I would have mortgaged the farm for this. Maybe they did?

    Piper Malibu killed the 301. Shame Mooney didn’t have the capabilities to produce it.

    I would love to see someone use the P-38 Lightning or Spitfire airfoil for a GA aircraft, with fully rounded/elliptical tips.

      +David LoPresti I have, it's a gorgeous plane, like my favorite Globe Swift but faster and meaner. Haha. Frankly, everything done by you LoPresti folks is outstanding. If only there were a half or 5/8 sized PT6-style turbo prop that could go in the Mooney Acclaim or Ovation(Ultra).

  • @gwr4fun

    The best looking airplane. Such fresh design . Maybe because we never see it anywhere. At times looks like a white cloud in the sky. Such a pitty that this forwarded cabin was discarded for the hideous long nose single prop

  • @badsanta69

    I see why they went broke.

    • @hdaviator9181
      @hdaviator9181 7 лет назад +6

      You do? This somehow ended up becoming the TBM in some weird vague way. If they had made this into a turboprop with a big baggage door, this essentially would have become a TBM. And Mooney would still be around, and not owned by the fucking chinese.

    • @skipcercelletta6659
      @skipcercelletta6659 7 лет назад

      this project started out with the french but them stopped and i can't remember what happened back then!

    whats with the landing gear down ? it don't matter anyway it's moot.

    • @skipcercelletta6659
      @skipcercelletta6659 7 лет назад +2

      on the first few flights on most new planes they keep the gear out in case there is a gear issue, this way they negate that possibility.
