  • Was flying the pattern when some rain moved in and got pretty hard to see! This was also my 200th hour of flying and my 132nd in this plane.

Hmmm.. Looked like a good 'opportunity' to practice some IFR on approach!... Ya.. Weather here can change quickly.. Enjoy your videos a lot!.. Was 'raised' and returned here after being away for 40yrs!... Use to do CAP at KLEB many many moons ago!

If I had been IFR rated at that time! Welcome back and thanks for the comment.

Great video! I got caught in the same weather today, flying from Keene to Great Barrington. Had to land at Pittsfield and wait it out. Also fly an M20J.

Had the same heavy rain while doing some maneuvers over near Mt.Monadnock, barely beat it out heading back to Nashua but only caught some heavy rain while on final! Awesome video by the way, would love to fly/own a Mooney some day.

Nice job,,thanks for the ride along!
Question,,would this have been IFR or MVFR? Or neither.

    • @aloofdork

Thanks for watching! It may have been MVFR, ceilings were low enough, vis was about five miles. But not IFR. It was VFR minutes before this video. How quickly weather can change!

Full left deflection on the runway might have improved your track. Beautiful radio stack too.

Matt - pilots also get caught up by alarm normalization. If the gear horn warning is sounding means you should count it as an abnormal indication for the flight profile and respond appropriately to it (i.e. put the gear down). Look at this TB20 gear up - gear horn blaring all the way down but it was normalized. ruclips.net/video/5McECUtM8fw/видео.html Not an instructor. Just a J pilot. Nice landing.

Thanks for the comment. I agree, numbing out to the alarm is a danger. I wonder if noise canceling headsets would eliminate the constant alarm in the TBM? The J's intermittent beeping is not so easy to tune out for me.
