Hey! I wanted to comment about that "what you are doing for the world" part. To me, you are doing a lot! My name is Bianca, I'm a 23 yo Brazilian painter. I decided to learn how to paint five years ago when I was studying to become a doctor, it stayed pretty much a hobby for the next three years, until I realised that the reason I wanted to be a doctor was because no artistic profession had ever been presented to me as an option. It was not until I found creators online (mainly through RUclips) and found out what people following that kinda of career do and how they live that I started believing this was something I could do!
I'm still only starting out, my art Instagram account is only a year old and I'm still figuring out this life. But the Corridor videos on creative process, photography, and media related issues have taught me so much and really encouraged me to put my painting out there! The work you do is super important to me and I'm not even in the VFX/film making field! Basically what I want to say is: thank you!

Cool. Just dropped out of college because I thought that was what I'm supposed to do, but all I've ever wanted is to work practically. If I could tell myself anything, it would be to start working at 18 and use the flexibility afforded by my parents to try all kinds of jobs. Rather than waste my time on a course because that's what people expect I should do.

This was a great podcast. Listening to all of you guys talk about your school days had me thinking back to my own time in school as well. I knew that I would end up doing something either related to computer programming or studio recording work. Fast forward to now, I work as a game programmer and I also record my music as a hobbyist. The only thing I feel that's changed is how much importance I placed on fame and being recognized. As time has passed, I've mostly come to the opinion that it doesnt really matter to me anymore, as long as I get to do the stuff that I like doing.

Insight to the idea of you guys just making a video and not really impacting people:
Not only do we viewers watch this and get enjoyment from the videos but it also inspires to be the creatives we are, to explore and gain more knowledge through tutorials and videos. The hope of making a living off of something we love as much as you guys love your job. For the node videos it gives a release, a calming and entertaining form that connects people. My friends and I watch your videos from across the states and talk about your videos and quote you guys on multiple occasions. It’s not just one video that you guys are uploading either, for the true fans you give us a culture and identity like Jake was talking about through his liking of bands. You guys are great people to look up to and get some encouragement and entertainment on a weekly basis, not just some creators of RUclips videos. You bring back memories of youth and fun and excitement and whimsy and glee and all good things as an initial reaction to every one of your videos.

I’m a nurse. My job is very fulfilling but very tiring... it’s emotionally, physically, and mentally draining. Most shifts are bat shit crazy, especially since I work on a neurology unit. So I really resonated with what Jake was saying about pushing through and self discipline. It’s an important trait to have no matter your career, interests, or hobbies. Had I learned that in high school when I was taking video productions classes every year, maybe I would have pursued a filmmaking career. I have coworkers who have been bus drivers, engineers, and cake decorators before. It’s awesome! People who do what what makes them happy are the coolest and funnest people to be around

Hi guys - first time I've ever commented on any RUclips video - found your channel(s), been binge-watching for a few days and really love your work. I want to add my thought, well, disagreement with one thing said in this podcast. For some of us, the thing we are best at is not that much fun. Nor does being good at something mean I (and maybe a few others) come to love it because I got better at it. I came up in the "Human Potential" movement here in CA and really bought into the "do what you love and the money will follow" philosophy. took me decades to figure out I was asking myself the wrong question: am I happy/passionate about my work? Always a "no" but I was making a very good living...about every 5 years I tried to pivot to what I did love doing...and crashed each time. After two bankruptcies I learned the best question for me to ask was, "am I making a difference?" "Does my life have meaning and purpose?" Answer is always yes.

The only difference is that I'm not as rich as I wanted to be, but I'll get in line with everyone else who wants more money. i'm actually very fortunate to be where I am at right now. When you guys announced that you were starting a podcast, I was excited to take in another avenue of content that you guys are creating. I’m 20 years old, who’s from Minnesota as well, and I have been watching your groups videos since the Minecraft episodes were posted on the Node channel like 6 years ago. So it’s easy to say that you guys have been a big influence on me throughout some important years of my life. I guess the reason I’m posting this comment is because this episode had an essence of nostalgia in it. I just wanted to say thank you for being a quick escape from reality when needed and teaching me how to be a true artist. I dabble with photography when I’m not busy with football and classes. it’s crazy how it all works out. i’m late to the corridor fam so when I found you guys a couple months ago, I had no clue what I wanted out of life. through watching you guys’ videos, my love for filmmaking has skyrocketed. and at the same time, I discovered my love for screenwriting.
it’s interesting hearing everybody on the show talking about how much they want to “serve” people and leave the world a better place. I really believe I wouldn’t have found my place in filmmaking. never before have I seen a youtube team work so hard, be so creative, and genuinely love what they do. and that love bleeds off to all of us. so maybe you’re not serving in the military or fighting fires but I think the way you guys help others is showing that you can excel in the art while still loving it. i’ll always support you guys as much as I can because I want to repay that passion. thanks boys x

And I'm feeling strange at the Moment. I do what I love, I have great co-workers, great friends but I'm uneasy. Honesty I can't see how being a doctor has a bigger impact on society than being an entertainer. Both are people that positively impact people's lives and although they do so in different ways I can't see how being healthy and being happy are all that different or how one is more important than the other. Both a physical illness and depression can cause death. I think you're overromanticizing doctors because of your unfamiliarity with what they do, and specially because of your familiarity with that you do; but at the end of the day, just by the sheer amount of people your content has brought joy and inspiration to, you may very well have saved more lives than the average doctor. What I'm getting to is that your whole discussion on how what you're doing is making an impact on the world seems kind of out of touch, naive and based on an oversimplification of the truth. I may be wrong or maybe the one who's naive, but that's just the impression I got.

Pre RUclips days, I remember I was about 14 years old browsing the internet. I needed compositing software, was looking around for After Effects alternatives (used to frequently use the After Effects 6 demo that I had on a disc Adobe sent out with their other product demos, got tired of cleaning out my laptop every month). That's when I came across AlamDV2 (by the time I got the means to afford it, Effects Lab DV came out, 3d muzzle flashes, lens flare generators, particle systems, holy crap!). FXhome was a place I called home for a few years, the community was amazing and the idea of a cinema for users to show their work was an incredible idea.
The reason why I bring all of this stuff up, was what Niko said about wanting to find a way to help others with the knowledge of his craft. When I got my hands on Effects Lab I wanted to start taking part in the community and make movies, but had no idea how to get my file sizes for videos smaller so uploading wouldn't be such a chore. When I first joined up I was way to shy to be on the forums (nor did I really know how it all worked, I surfed the internet for years but never took part in communities) so instead of googling the answer for some odd reason, I decided to email the guy who uploaded my favorite film in the FXhome cinema, Metal Gear Redux and ask how they did it. It wasn't long after I got a message back from Sidewinder (Niko), a rather detailed message on good compression settings. It was thanks to this individual I was on my way to uploading my stuff... Now it was finding a website to host my files for free was a problem haha! After a little time passed I ended up uploading my own Metal Gear fan movie I made with my friends to the cinema.
That entire film community was so supportive of each other, once I broke out of my shell a lot of my fondest internet memories are from that site hanging out in the chat room. I look back often and think jeez how did they put up with a kid like me for so long, but I made a lot of great friends back then. As I grew up tho I never did get anywhere, around 16 I started getting bad anxiety and became agoraphobic for a year or two and became anti-social. After a few years I got better, still deal with anxiety but I am much better. At one point I did try to do video work on the local level it became way to real, it wasn't like making films with people you were great friends with. But even so after all of this time I still held onto my love for VFX and CGI, I don't post much on the internet or have the time I wish I had to dedicate myself to it for longer periods of time, but it's always something I go back to just to unwind and have fun.
Anyways, I never talk about myself like this, especially in front strangers of the internet but, I dunno this podcast made me feel like sharing that old story. So to anyone who read this, thanks, I hope you're following your passions in life and the road is as smooth as it can be. And for any remote chance Sam or Niko is reading this, thanks for inspiring me back then with Metal Gear Redux, and thanks again Niko for sharing your knowledge on compression back then lol, whether you remember or not just know even back then you were influencing someone to do something.
Thanks to the entire Corridor Crew for making such amazing content over the years, you guys are my favorite source of entertainment on this platform, and help fuel my desire to never let go of the things that make me the happiest.
    -Travis, back then jedijt9 / JT9.

This was an awesome episode, please do more like this!
I have struggled with the question of “does what I do matter?” for years. I have always wanted to be creative and publish novels I have written but felt like I needed to do more. I have bounced around from non profits, higher ed, and public service in search of a why. Still looking

I really enjoyed this episode. I'm around your same age and when I left high school I had two paths, to choose from: go to LA like you and pursue a video career, or stay where I'm at and teach video instead. I decided to become a teacher and I've loved it, but I always wonder, like some of you said, what my life would have been if I'd taken the bigger risk. You guys have had a big impact on my life, because I can watch all your videos and live viciously through you. You give me a glimpse of what that other path could have been, so I can enjoy both.
You are making a big difference in lots of people's lives, but you don't get to see most of the consequences of that, just like I do with teaching. Most people won't say what you've done for them, but your effect is still strong and you're making the world a better place. Keep it up.

This is really interesting to watch as I’m a sophomore in high school right now😂 like D in Clint I want to join the military but my goals are more so going to the Naval Academy in Annapolis which I hope could eventually lead me to becoming a test pilot/engineer and help push the limits of human achievement. Maybe even become an astronaut and pull a Neil Armstrong going from an X-15 year pilot to becoming part of NASA

If you guys ever question your contribution to this world, just know that you have inspired myself, and my best mate to become filmmakers, and I'm sure there are many others in this comment section who feel the same way, you gave people a future to look forward to, and to me that's one of the best thing's you could do for the people who look up to you. Been watching you guys since I was a wee lad, and I don't want to stop until people look at me the same way I look at all of you. For real keep the world turning.

I want to mention. A LOT of this cast is the guys doubting their impact on the world. As someone who watches every video that comes out.... Your channel isn't just something that makes me happy, as clint said. Your channel is something that inspires almost every viewer to value your friendships more. Especially since I'm 25 and most of my friends went their own seperate ways. Your channel is a story of a bunch of different guys to really inspire a sense of small community and family in your business. It makes me happy, but it also REALLY inspires me to be a better person.. Yall are examples of family values in work and in friendship. As a 25 year old man your channel helps me solidify a better goal for my relationships.
Thanks as always for a good episode!

I'm not saying it's not an honorable goal, but why do we need to do something that helps the world? Of course, it is a good thing to give back, but why is it an expectation to help out the world with what you do? I might still be too naive to understand, but the way I see it, if what you end up doing helps out the world, great, but if it doesn't, why does it matter as long as you're happy?

I had to come over from audio to comment. A few things, first I can't imagine Clint as a hardened vet, it would be nearly tragic if he had done military service and had that personality of his manipulated in any way that would harden him, or make him more cynical. Clint is a gem. Also, I listened to this while playing mario kart wii (emulated), and I'll just say, I'd love to face you Clint, let's go.
