i really enjoyed this one, but guys, you need to learn to let others finish their thoughts. Especially Jake and Sam, you are interupting A LOT when someone (mostly Nico and Wren) tries to express a new ideas.Also, I feel like you should let wren speak a little bit more, he has a lot of knowledge in a lot of areas but he gets interupted by random ideas from others...
Meh, Wren is the young guy who thinks he knows more than he does. Almost every young guy goes through this and as they get older they realize how little they knew.

@@dylanhull1096 Oh I don't think age should count over actual knowledge or expertise, but wren is a guy who thinks he has it all figured out and he'll realize someday he was scratching the surface at about 1% of what he should know.
@@brianbagnall3029 Wren is the best speaker and more passionate about topics than anyone else in the Corridor Crew, that's why he has done a Ted Talk, that's why the most popular Corridor Crew videos are the ones that feature Wren in the thumbnail or his ideas.
@@brianbagnall3029 wren has done more research and gone to more college on these topics then the other guys. Watch the crew channel. The proof is there. So he has this insight so he should have the most important\ relevant opinion. It’s that simple.

Niko and Wren are the hosts, Sam's the funny guy and Jake is the Morty: needing things to be explained everytime something is mentioned.
I've just started listening to this podcast series and yes, I get the impression Wren and Niko are the most informed of the bunch here.

You should read the book 'Scythe' by Neal Schusterman, it's about a far future human society run perfectly by an AI - poses really interesting concepts about a single AI running the world successfully, and what it can or cannot do (and what humans need to do instead)
The AI Governor debate is hilarious because Sam and Niko are just laughing at Jake and treating him like and idiot, Jake is looking at it from a very old-school perspective that doesn't apply, Wren is just shaking his head in disappointment cause they are all wrong.

The Chernobyl couldn't have wiped out Easter Europe. That's just physically impossible. Nuclear stations aren't made the same way as a atomic bomb. Thunderf00t made a great video about it.
They were talking about the interconnected water streams and rivers throughout eastern Europe that can get contaminated and affect the whole region because people as you know like drinking and using water
So I found it interesting to hear your perspectives on energy, particularly fusion energy. I actually worked at JET for a while, the world's biggest nuclear fusion reactor. If you have any questions on the topic, please don't hesitate to ask.

I saw Niko's name in the credits of that Netflix Special and then watched it again looking for him.
I'm not an expert (I feel like all my comments on this podcast are prefaced that way haha) but I'm pretty sure radiation in the sense of radioactive material (heat radiation is different) is free neutrons (not full atoms) which are unstable as they need at least one proton to stabilize (even though that is highly unlikely as an atom with one proton and no electrons would also technically be unstable) so what happens is these neutrons take protons and electrons away from whatever they come in contact with. Certain elements are more prone to "giving protons and electrons away" and in carbon based life, cells are highly prone to that. The long term effect isn't necessarily corrupted DNA (that's essentially what cancer is), however it's the atomic structure of the body basically fighting for control over the aforementioned protons and electrons over time. As matter cannot be created nor destroyed, and as quantum physics is basically a principle rooted in equilibrium, this molecular "battle" lasts until every neutron is "satisfied" which can take a countless duration of time. Death from radiation poisoning occurs at various amounts of time and isn't easily measurable by variables like exposure, age, and so on. It all depends on where those neutrons happen to go.
Again, no idea if any of that is true, but I'm pretty sure it's at least on the right track lmao

Am I the only one who thinks that Jake is the only morally level head person during the A.I. World government, as far as the idea of a A.I.'s human reaction and what is morally right.
I really agree when you guys say kids having smartphones really shouldn't be a thing. I didn't get my first cellphone until I was 12 or 13 and didn't get my first smartphone until I was 15. My younger sister said her one friend (a 13 year old mind you) just got an iPhone 11 Pro Max; a $1500 smartphone. That's like 2 months worth of mortgage payments on my family's house which just blows my mind.
These podcasts are more than just fun, they're super educational. Never thought I'd come to RUclips to learn life lessons but here I am.

Steam power is just to efficient. Water, when turned into steam, expands about 1600 times. That is alot of power in BTUs right there. Solar is not powerfull enough YET to power the full world.

A bit late but, about an AI World Governer, all because it's AI doesn't mean it won't be impartial. If it's human-made it will have a human bias. As Jake was saying, if you had to choose between killing off a crack head or the president, who would you choose? If you haven't seen, have a look at the moralmachine by MIT where they show you moral dilemmas for autonomous cars. It's incredibly interesting.
Btw, would it be OK to just give it a software update? Would that be wrong? Lol.

The talk about the AI taking over and humanity giving in has a direct episode in Netflix's 'Death Love & Robots'. There's an episode with sentient yogurt that that directly corresponds to that conversation.

I feel like no ones really listening to jake when talking about a AI government instead they’re just making fun of his thoughts. I do agree with jake about we’ll never 100% understand another species because we aren’t that species. We may understand understand a species very very well but it’ll never be 100%

Jake "why wouldn't we destroy it". Why don't ants just destroy humanity? If there is actually some AI super intelligence one time, it would be way above our league to do anything about it :p Especially if it comes to the point where the AI can enhance itself
I will have to agree with Jake, "we understand dolphins" is a pretty shallow argument imo, but we understand a dolphin pretty superficially, theres no nations of dolphins, theres no different cultures, traditions etc of dolphins. We have 10000s of different languages being spoken in different parts of the world, can you really leave all that to one brain to do stuff? Each and every person abide by different morals, some share some of them, but they dont all agree to all the same things. Its a different species, who doesnt understand how and why we do stuff. It will know what we do as a specie, just as we know what a dolphin does by behavioral pattern, but humans are much more complex than, if hungry, eat, if thirsty, drink, if summer, procreate.
We understand dolphins pretty well, but we barely understand our human subconscious mind for eg. We can train it, but we barely understand it.
Thats what I think at least.
AI can be good or bad. True AI would be sentient, and have total sence of self and emotion and the world around them. It would be imposible to say its an AI and NOT a human. They would be the exact same. A true AI wouldnt be this all knowing being, it would be a human that was born inside of a computer.
Damn, Nico explaining the concept of white hat hackers to Jake and he just sortof writes it off as "hacking is bad period". Without white hat hackers, companies don't give a shit about security until some actually nefarious hacker hacks the, because it costs them money to be secure.

Why would a super intelligent ai be like a different species. If we created it then it would just by logic consist of the same processes that we do since it's being created only through our minds. The whole concept of an super intelligent ai is that it follows human workings but is able to make decisions much much faster and make human like decisions on it's own.
We need to start family planning , you see huge families in undeveloped countries, they cannot feed them so they use them as their slaves , they can't go to school and they will ever have a good quality of life. Why is this still a thing in 2019 .

I used to work in a strip mall type complex and the Walmart had such a huge Canadian flag they had to get a smaller one for noise restrictions for the apartments close to it.

From all the stuff that was discussed in this podcast, the most impressive thing is the fact that they sold a single freaking peanut M&M through eBay.
I am a programmer, and an algorithm is just a set of instructions that a programmer will give a computer. It may be difficult and tedious but, if someone is able to sit down and give this AI a complicated set of rules that contribute to ethical, moral, and logical thinking, and is not just worked on by one person but, by many people I believe this is possible.

Also, a lot of the fusion talk was wrong, even at the time of recording fusion energy was a reality. It’s just not efficient enough to be sustainable.
1) the magnets out so much pressure of the input that it becomes the plasma
2) they were right about the need to change the magnets
3) they need helium but it needs to be a specific type of isotope
4) a meltdown would be the easiest and chillest meltdown ever because while at first, the plasma would burn everything around it, it would cool off VERY quickly and would be fairly easy cleanup with little (if any, I’m not exactly sure) radiation residue
Also, I understand his argument against Nuclear energy but I would feel like it’s not so cut and dry
