Once a year if you are hard on your stuff every 2 years if you are a little bit hard and if you just trail and only used one or two times a month just check it to make sure you level are good and look in your manual and check what mileage you need to change it ! Use a regular non socket type allen wrench to install that plug. It's thinner than an extension and lets you thread that plug in straight.

How often does it need changing?
I bought a used 2027 with 3800 miles.
I don't know if it was ever changed.
