    Pokémon: Yellow Version is part of the first generation of games within its famous series, known for having a very large number of beneficial glitches. In fact, the games can be completed in less than one minute of in-game time by save data corruption as shown by this run ( tasvideos.org/2687M ), and completed in around 10 minutes using a more "conventional" glitch, as shown by this run ( tasvideos.org/3655M ). These runs break the game, and avoid much of the gameplay intended by the developers.
    In contrast, this run by TiKevin83 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/T... ) refrains from using any memory corrupting glitches and beats the game in a little over an hour and half. The Pokédoll trick is used to skip a dungeon in the game, but that is considered a minor developer oversight and does not corrupt the memory.

    I love the thought of walking into the Elite 4 with a single lv.46 Pokemon at 7HP and just wrecking shop. Nice TAS!

    Rocket: "OK! I'll return the TM I stole!"
    *gives a child who didn't own the TM in the first place the TM*
    Rocket: "I better get moving! Bye!"
    Red: "Understandable. Have a great day."

      As stated in the commentary, that Pidgeotto encounter was intentional for saving time later.

    Great stuff

    • @thunderaxe31
      @thunderaxe31 3 года назад +15

      Actually, the reason why it doesn't always use critical hits is because sometimes it would waste time due to the longer dialogue.

    there is a cheats called, never miss any attack and make several critics, there is also another cheat called your enemy miss attacks, all this is pure cheating, I do not believe that you have made this perfect run and have not failed any horn drill, this attack will be successful unless your pokemon is higher or faster, but it always has 0.01% to fail, It is impossible that you have hit all those attacks on the venonat and not have missed one, I would believe you if it were X precision, but with X speed it is impossible that they have hit all, You say that this guy made many attempts but still that is impossible, ohko attacks always depend on the level of the pokemon the speed influences but there is always a% in failure, so that's impossible, this guy used cheats, to never miss and make several critics, he's a fraud.

      This is a TAS, in Pokemon gen 1 Tool Assisted Speedruns you can manipulate all RNG. The TAS has also been proven to play back on an original cartridge via the Game Boy Player in the commentary video linked in the description.

    • @jeromethegnome9388
      @jeromethegnome9388 3 года назад +4

      Its a TAS my guy. Its like playing in an emulator and rewinding every action until you get what you want. The only thing we don't see is him not hitting what he wants and rewinding time to try again. TAS are used to showcase what a perfect game would look like and is generally understood to be an impossible scenario. This is like arguing that a TAS of the original mario game shouldn't hold the record since it does impossible direction presses or hits a and b 12 times within 15 frames. We know. Its program assisted.
