- This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/...
This movie has been obsoleted by tasvideos.org/...
TAS originally published on 2020-12-31
Pokémon Gold and Silver form the second generation of Pokémon, after Pokémon Red and Blue. The main differences between the generations is that the game is now in full color, and that there are 251 Pokémon instead of 151.
CasualPokePlayer ( tasvideos.org/... ) employs a staggering amount of luck manipulation and extremely careful routing (accomplished using the RouteTwo program) in order to improve upon the predecessor Silver run ( tasvideos.org/... ) by 01:23.49 minutes. Only a few Pokémon are collected in this run, but all gym badges are acquired before defeating the protagonist of the previous generation of Pokémon games.
The author of this movie has written very extensive details about anything regarding this movie, including even some of the mathematical formulas used by the game. As usual, we recommend reading these comments ( tasvideos.org/... ).
--------
You can watch the complete run played back on console ( • GBC Pokemon Gold Glitc... )
That transition at 1:25 for the TAS info was smooth as butter. Points for the person who edited that in.
Spikestuff did
"Please call Prof. Elm when the egg hatches"
*Immediately dumps it in a PC*
Happy New Year to each and every one of you people!
Happy New Year to you too
"Watch as a ten year old utterly annihilates all the Pokémon battle professionals in two regions within the span of just under two hours."
3*
Great TAS! It took me 90-ish hours to complete the game for my first time, so seeing this blew me away!
What life is like as a Battle Tower trainer.
Timestamps to skip the intro:
0:49 : Opening cutscene ends
2:18 : Left Elms Lab, after obtaining the starter (totodile named J)
4:49 : Rival Battle 1, if you want to see it.
6:57 : Mystery egg delivered, Pokemon catching tutorial skipped. New Bark left for good. Onto the rest of the game!
2:50:33 Red
No return and icepunch. Unbelievable
I know that this is a speedrun, but I find it to be so relaxing to watch. Good job on this one!
Crazy TAS and Amazing Work ! Thank You :D
2:50:31 RED
Something tells me this guy isn't a casual player
Yeah bro TAS is kind of goated
1:27 Clever!
I love custom transitions like this
Wonderful TAS
New year new tas
If Dream played Pokemon
got him
how does the RNG manipulation work in this game? like how is he able to avoid encounters and make opponents miss all the time
Nothing actually says what kind of run this is. I presume from the description this is an any% glitchless of gold then? As in avoiding the coin case glitch that runners use to skip to Mt. Silver with no Pokémon in the party in gen 2?
This is "branchless", essentially a playthrough of the game with nothing special added (no jump to end of the game, no save corruption, no special glitching, not 100%, etc). Also Coin Case is only used for Any% No Save Corruption (which is really just old runs of Any%), Any% just gets ACE from save corruption now. If you want a glitched TAS, just look at my Silver save glitch TAS: ruclips.net/video/2jJfyyDkcVg/видео.html
Also you could guess this is glitchless just due to the fact it's nearly 3 hours long lol
CasualPokePlayer - Ah, thank you. I was just used to seeing the category of the run in the title of the video, especially for popular games like Pokémon that tend to have multiple categories as new tricks and glitches are found. Yes, I figured it might have been glitchless from the length, I just wasn’t sure if there was more to it, like if there was now an “all badges” category or something. (Then again, I have been watching a lot of Mario and Zelda runs recently that have a lot more options for skips than gen 2 Pokémon does.)
Happy new year!
Regarding the Firebreather Ray fight at the end of Union Cave, would it be faster to let him spot you while you're facing right to avoid the turn frames coming out of the battle?
You would automatically turn to face him once he reaches you, so no.
happy new year
My favorite gen, but it's Crystal version
LET’S GOO CASUAL
Seeing as this is TAS, why wouldn`t you just get Raikou early and solo the game?
Just curious.
That was the previous TAS, it's slower anyways (it's not mandatory to release the dogs in Gold/Silver, and takes 4 minutes to get).
@@CasualPokePlayer Ah, so its only in crystal it saves time then?
In Crystal it's mandatory to release the beasts, so it's best to get one of them.
2:05:58 -- uh oh... Karen on the warpath again.. only to fail.
terrible moveset ....
Ah, yes. 69 likes in 1 TAS.
