One of my absolute favourites. Probably the first time I remember a game bringing me to tears. It's a heart wrenching moment when Nanaki learns the truth of Seto's story. Thank you for such a beautiful rendition.
@@bigshoes806 I would always imagine how painful it would be to grow up believing your father was a selfish coward when, in reality, he sacrificed everything for you. It always brought a tear to my eyes.
Cosmo Canyon has the most mesmerizing pieces in the entirety of Final Fantasy 7. This one was no exception. Sounds even better played in acoustics. Thanks for playing, John! Sounds amazing.
I always thought cosmo canyon was my favorite FF song...but now I realize all along, it was actually setos theme, the great warrior, that really encapsulates why FF music is my favorite...
This scene. A son spends his entire life hating his father, believing him a coward who left that boy's mother for dead. Then, that son goes on a journey to learn the history of his tribe's bloodiest conflict, the one from which his father fled and in which his courageous mother gave her life. He learns along the way that the enemy knew of a secret path that would have allowed them to overwhelm the tribe and annihilate them. Why did their attack fail? Finally, the son learns the truth: his father stood alone against insurmountable odds and fought to his last breath. Even after the enemy poisoned his flesh and turned him to stone, the father's courage and ferocity kept his spirit within that stone body and his very presence struck such terror into the hearts of his foes that the attack could not continue. A son who spent all his life hating his father for a coward, now knowing the truth, feels the swelling of pride in his breast alongside the bitter sting of guilt and sorrow. The son cries out a ragged howl to the night sky: a song of pain and triumph, a final salute to a great warrior.
I love how your arrangements are not simple melody arrangements but they capture the essence of the song and are adapted very nicely into the classical guitar. Guitar has it's own limitations (like every instrument do( so it's nice to hear someone who understands those limitations and can get the best out of the instrument, making it very pleasurable to listen in the end.
What a beautiful rendition! This is a memorable track. It was a moment I couldn't help but get emotionally involved. Your guitar always sings, but this time it tells the story beautifully.
Loved that track since I was a child, and you did it justice, it sounds wonderful! I can't wait to see that scene with Nanaki and Seto in FF7 Rebirth. :(
Home sweet home.

And then he howled to the heavens as his father's (crystallized?) tears fell 😢😢😢

How the hell does this have only 10k views?

As someone with complicated feelings about their family, this song just hits right in the gut and this version does it such justice

When you realize Seto was not a coward.

To quote one of my favourite minor characters from The Simpsons: "Oh! Another triumph!"
Dude, I would totally buy an album of your renditions of FFVII! 🎵🎶💸
Appreciate ya! I think I'll have it finished in March.
👏
I've learned what and how to do a hinge barre now!
Amazing work, buddy :-)
Nice! It's a super helpful technique for legato playing and saving some energy. I remember learning it and it being a lightbulb-moment.
@@JohnOethGuitar Seems super helpful! Just need to practice it abit.
On a different note, the song is played in regular tuning right? 😂
@@Balsfjordproductions yep!
@@JohnOethGuitar thanks!
Gonna practice the song and upload it so you can judge
sei riuscito a combinare la tua simpatia con una spiegazione chiara e coincisa, davvero bello e utile
I get emotional every time I listen to your cover. It's beautiful.
This is very beautifully played John
Such a gorgeous track, and a wonderful cover. I always preferred this over Cosmo Canyon.
I've also got Red XIII's Theme in the works, which is a bit of a variation on Cosmo Canyon.
