People throw the word "underrated" around a lot with classic games, but I think it really applies here.

Simons Quest was the first Castlevania I played as a child and the music to me is still the best out of the whole franchise and this video brought all of the music back to life in a awesome way ! My mom got me a used copy at Bookman's in Flagstaff, AZ in 1990. and the rest is history. I agree the music is top notch! Bloody Tears is immortal.
This whole open world RPG thing became one of the most influencial trends in the gaming industry period, and yet Simon's Quest doesn't get enough credit for being one of the origins

Huh, I had thought River City Ransom was the real king of that (apart from MUDs of course) but checked and nope, Castlevania 2 was out about a year earlier.
I guess because it was not everyone's cup of tea, especially at the time, but once you could get through that, boy, it's one of the best games ever made.
As a 40 year old man who remembers getting his 2nd Nintendo Power with this game on the cover and playing this game 30 years ago,, but currently laid up in bed with terrible back pain you have brought a rare smile to my face and brought me to tears of joy. Thank you for the nostalgia!
Good thing you had Nintendo Power, because I doubt anyone would have guessed to equip a bone or whatever and then kneel down at a certain place until a tornado picks you up.

The silence of daylight, bloody tears and within these castle walls are some of the greatest video game music themes ever composed hands down. It’s no contest.

I'm with you. Loved Simon's Quest. Sure, in retrospect, the translation was terrible, and pathfinding made no sense. But it gave us that amazing score, and the best Nintendo Power cover ever.
@@angryscholar8450 Love Simon's Quest, they tried to give you a world. Multiple endings, day night cycle, it was ambitious as hell. my only complaint about the entire game is the last boss is WAAAAAAY too easy.
This game used to scare the crap out of me every time I played it, but I was hooked. I couldn't stop playing it even though I didn't want to and was terrified. Must have been that curse they mention. What a horrible night!

This soundtrack for this game is what got me into video games back in the day. I had zero interest in Atari, Sega Master System and Nintendo Entertainment System. All of my friends and relatives were into games, but my mother used to babysit my cousin and one day he brought of his NES and this game. I was in my bedroom and the melodies for this game kept distracting me and I came out and asked him what he was playing. The rest is history, and this series has always held a special place in my heart.
Last boss is so catchy, I can't kill him, I'm doing a salsa class with him and he's got such a groove.

First Castlevania game I was exposed to when it first came out in '88. I had a friend in school that could beat it in less than 2 hours from start to finish. It was one of his favorite games to play.
I've never even listened to the castlevania 2 soundtrack, I just wanna say I'm stunningly impressed by this technique and skill

Just had a flash of a western style Castlevania show where Simon executes bounties on the terrors of Dracula's remnant forces in search of his remains. This music could easily bring life to that in the background.

This game used to terrify me when I was a kid watching my older brother play. Even the day time theme was haunting. You were safe walking through town but you knew what was coming when night fell. One of the OG survival horror games.
Whoever didn’t like this had a poor ass childhood.. i can remember sitting on the floor playing this game for hours.
That transition was FLAWLESS!

While this whole medley is fantastic, I have to give props to just how razor sharp and crisp the notes are in The Silence Of Daylight. You could shave with those notes.

Say what you want about the game itself but Simon's Quest had the best music of all Castlevanias IMO. Well done guys. Brings me right back to the first day I rented my NES and played in the dining room on a 15 inch TV.
Castlevania II was one of my favorite NES games of all time and this is utterly amazing!
