I am Japanese. I was playing old FF in real time. This video is great. It reminds me of the emotions of the past. I thank you for the fate of meeting your video tonight.
I’m a much bigger fan of FF8 than any other entry into the series. That isn’t meant to take away from 7 or 10, or any other, but I spent the majority of my most important childhood years playing FF8 and Chrono Cross. Those games will always be my happy place.
FF I...Town...I remember being so young, my parents waking me up in my childhood bed. Hearing this in my heart always reminds me of that time. Now, I've lost my Dad and am moving my mother into assisted living. My heart hurts, but if I listen just enough...the echoes of my youth still remain. Thank you for this gift.
I'm going through a divorce and I've been playing this as background music throughout my day. it's helped me remain chill, along with remind me of my childhood and times of happiness. Having this available to me has actually been quite priceless. Great work!
I lost my dog 2 days ago, I held him in my arms until he went to sleep, and afterwards I just felt empty and lifeless. These covers of the soundtracks brought back the feeling of inner piece and satisfaction I had snuggling up to him and watching series with him when I was going through tough times and it's a beautiful feeling that I'm so thankful for even though I'm crying again. Thank you for making me feel these feelings again and playing for us.
I'm so sorry. I'm glad my music can give you some solace. We almost lost our dog two months ago and we were/are distraught. I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend! ❤️
Nobuo Uematsu is an absolute musical genius. Why he isn't a world-famous orchestral composer outside of the gaming industry is beyond my understanding.
Not everyone wants the biggest recognition, if they can't fully follow their heart into doing it. Although trying never hurts, it can exhaust you to a point of no return and influence your whole work, in a good way but also bad. I can tell he loves what he is doing and his passion has build him a place where he belongs and for most creative people out there that's like a dream coming true. In my opinion that's the most relateable reason behind it and i support all of his choices letting him create such wonderful compositions, we all can listen too. :) And don't forget all the people in gaming industry he inspires, even if his work isn't yours to begin with. FFXIV Shadowbringers sets a new milestone in videogame music for me and that's because of his fellow student and co composer "Masayoshi Souken", whom Uematsu stepped aside for letting him create his own thing at this expansion. I really enjoy his work, while playing the game!
What do you mean not world famous? We got musicians playing his content world wide. There are concerts, the material is used in schools. There are concerts around the world to celebrate his music. If you mean why isn't he more famous in America or any composer and orchestra in general? Well...look at what Americans consider as good music...
I've been rattling my brain about what to say about this pretty much since I saw it some 10 months ago. As a classical guitar performer, I'm thrilled this exists and grateful to all the arrangers. As a classical guitar instructor, I'm glad I can point to this as a tremendous model of what is possible with well thought out arrangements and performances. As a critical listener, I'm disgusted (jealous, really) of the tonal clarity in the rasgueados and control in the right hand - even when I was practicing for competition, I don't think I had that level of control and it is impressive. More than all of this, as someone who loves the guitar and loves the music of Nobuo Uematsu (one of the BIG reasons I went to school for music,) I cannot be more thankful for the incredible work you've done with the arrangers and what must have been countless hours toiling over fingering choices and grinding over these arrangements, some of which seem a little intimidating to the ear! Bravo, sir. Bravo.
The amount of practice to get to this level of fluency with each song, unbelievable dude. Your phrasing is something else, just and effortless flow from one note to the next :)

That nostalgic feeling rushing in especially at 6:56. Back then as a kid playing FFII, I will always leave the game on while in town just so the song will play on repeat and imagining that I am in that world. I miss those leisure days :(
I remember first time I insert the FF9 CD to my Play Station and hear the "The Place I'll Return to Someday" music on the opening, from that time I know the game will change my life forever.
Are you kidding me? The man took a long time to put all these together in a masterpiace and you didn't subscribe?! Thank you man! I'll listen to this for hours.
Oh man, final fantasy 8 was my first final fantasy. I cannot put into words how impressive and lovely this whole compilation is. Keep doing what you're doing dude, you're immensely talented. ✌️
wow..this evokes memories I had during my teens playing FF8. The lengths I had to go through in playing the game on a toshiba laptop with intel p3, 64mb ram and 20gb storage. Borrowed the cds(extracted them for .iso file) from a friend which had lots of scratches which caused the PSEmu to crash or had frequent read errors. But despite all of that I persisted and finished the game, those were happy times...thank you for this
The biggest complaints I ever heard were people not liking/understanding the Junction system and a lack of meaningful development for Ultimecia in-game. Honestly, I think people forget that FFVIII came out in 1999 on 4 discs (which was a lot back then), it was fantastic for its time and as kids (which is when most of us discovered it) we didn't give a crap about any of that stuff. The people that can't enjoy it today are people throwing modern criticism at a 23 year old classic, sadly out of touch with the child within that would find it precious. It is a beautiful game.
I love FF8, it has some amazing moments, fantastic music and story, but I'm not one of the people who deny it is only a whisper of what it could have been. It was made during a time of real turmoil in the company, clashing visions between creators and programmers etc... all that stuff impacted the game. They won't do a 1:1 remake because SQEX claims they don't have the source material (code) anymore They also "lost" the source of the first Kingdom Hearts, so when they did the HD version of that game it had to be literally remade from scratch...to rebuild FF8 from the ground up like that would take more time and attention than the current iteration of the company is comfortable with giving.
@longlivelinux90 I have at least ten more tracks I'd love to do including the Normal Battle Theme, Tidus's Theme, and Yuna's Theme. Yuna's Decision is currently in progress.
John, been really blessed by your talent, Just finished the first 3 final fantasy nes games with my brother, I will be praying for your channel, God bless you 🙏❤️
It was a missed opportunity to have the WoR theme play after hers. Or heck, at least Aria de Mezzo Carattere (Celes's Opera song). There were only two songs from VI, which I thought was a shame given how many good songs were in that game.
@@davidkim2016 speak to the memories directly I understand SI vitality that gives us vitality gives us our power to love and you believe this to be true
I really didn't mean to cry but I can't help it. My little sister is about to get married and listening to this makes me feel sad that I won't be able to play games with her anymore. We grew up playing RPGs together and our ultimate fave is the Final Fantasy series. The last FF we played was the FF7 Remake last year, and I know she won't be there to play Part 2 with me. It's heartbreaking but life must go on. In my heart she'll forever be my beloved little sister and video game partner.
@@Thesteadfast yes we did. we played a couple of games when she was able to visit me during a few weekends last year. But sadly when FF7 Rebirth dropped she moved to a another part of town and she wasn't able to visit me as frequently as before. She told me that I shouldn't wait for her to play the game...
28:01 ...one of my favorite melodies from FFIII/VI. The composer captured perfectly the emotions and set of circumstances the player and the characters might feel at this most humbling of times.
Saying it's Gorgeous I wouldn't say nothing! It's incredible! It back me into the past time when everything is Pure Life, when everything around is like a fairytale! Thank you for this gift to feel I am still alive and now I can make true this fairytale in my life and life of my children.

John, I'm truly baffled by how insanely clean your playing is. In the entire 110 minutes that this video lasts there's hardly one shoddy note in there. A truly beautiful testament to how well thought out and written this music is. My deepest respect and thank you for these amazing renditions.
I was blown away as soon as the strains of Prelude started. Then I started to tear up when Prologue played. I full on cried when I heard your rendition of Theme of Love. This was spectacular. Thank you for sharing, John. You play tremendously well. Sincerely, an FF fan who feels really happy and blessed to have found this video. Take care, and if you can, kindly regale us with more of your music. :)
@@acrophis While Justin's comment was as timeless as* it was hilariously effeminate it also serves as a great example of the totalitarian nature of liberalism
You know... It's amazing how many decades of memories you can pack into just barely 2 hours of music, isn't it? I can remember vividly how I felt as a kid playing all these games; hearing all these themes -- and how things were in my life at the time, good and bad. Sometimes, these themes make me sad, sometimes not, usually un-related to the source material... So, thank you, for letting me relive these moments again; the acoustics' really give it something special I can't quite define adequately!
My only problem with this compilation is that I wish most of these songs went through twice, especially for the earlier games! Guess I'll just have to hit that replay button
Just needed to pop in and say thanks for helping me put my 2 year old to sleep! Nothing was working, but then we laid down together and watched this and he was out in 5 minutes! So he sleeps while I listen to the soundtrack of my childhood 😊
This compilation just popped up on my suggested watches while I was watching other stuff. I am so very glad I clicked through. I have been buying and listening to music from Final Fantasy for as long as there have been Final Fantasy games. Early on it was just the original and a few official recordings with real instruments. Recently I've been helping out at my church with the sound and I've gotten a new appreciation for how difficult it is to capture sound well. The audio on this is a combination of so many things I love, good quality recording, great skill with the guitar, and Final Fantasy music. Thank you for doing this I am enjoying it immensely.

Incredible. I'm disappointed RUclips didn't show me this incredible album and had to discover you from your comments on my channel. I'm about halfway through and I swear each performance is more breathtaking than the last. Thank you for this, absolutely loving it.
That nostalgic feeling rushing in especially at 6:56. Back then as a kid playing FFII, I will always leave the game on while in town just so the song will play on repeat and imagining that I am in that world. I miss those leisure days :(
It makes my heart swell and almost bring tears to my eyes.
Oh my gad... Balamb Garden really put me in tears.. Lot of memories while I was playing it
I remember first time I insert the FF9 CD to my Play Station and hear the "The Place I'll Return to Someday" music on the opening, from that time I know the game will change my life forever.
My brother has that song for his PS4 home screen and it brings me back every time.
I cry every time I hear Aerith's theme. Makes me think of my mum. Well done!
From a person who has always been a fan of classical guitar arrangements and has been playing Final Fantasy games for 30 years, THANK YOU!!
wow..this evokes memories I had during my teens playing FF8. The lengths I had to go through in playing the game on a toshiba laptop with intel p3, 64mb ram and 20gb storage. Borrowed the cds(extracted them for .iso file) from a friend which had lots of scratches which caused the PSEmu to crash or had frequent read errors. But despite all of that I persisted and finished the game, those were happy times...thank you for this
How did the CDs get scratched!?
I'm crying 😭 these are so beautiful!!
Honestly why do so many people talk shit about FF8
No idea, it's my fav FF. Best ever.
I'm a bit of a fan but even I admit that it's a hot mess :D
They won't do a 1:1 remake because SQEX claims they don't have the source material (code) anymore
They also "lost" the source of the first Kingdom Hearts, so when they did the HD version of that game it had to be literally remade from scratch...to rebuild FF8 from the ground up like that would take more time and attention than the current iteration of the company is comfortable with giving.
@@arkhamsrazor7075 They also just sold their entire Final Fantasy IP.
I listen to this while doing schoolwork at least 3x a week. thank you.
You are too kind! I appreciate it and I'm so glad you enjoy it.
@@JohnOethGuitar if you find a way/the time to arrange the entire X ost... it would be the best day ever
@longlivelinux90 I have at least ten more tracks I'd love to do including the Normal Battle Theme, Tidus's Theme, and Yuna's Theme. Yuna's Decision is currently in progress.

this video brings back all my memories from the past 25 years with Final Fantasy VII. So beautiful
素晴らしい演奏をありがとうございます。FFは大好きなので泣きました。
John, been really blessed by your talent,
Just finished the first 3 final fantasy nes games with my brother, I will be praying for your channel, God bless you 🙏❤️
That's awesome! I have such fond memories of playing video games with my brothers. We still play today but online. haha
Terra's Theme will always have a place in my heart.
The song of those who travel the world, knowing no destination, but it calls to you.
Yeah!!!!!
It was a missed opportunity to have the WoR theme play after hers. Or heck, at least Aria de Mezzo Carattere (Celes's Opera song). There were only two songs from VI, which I thought was a shame given how many good songs were in that game.
Love this. Thank you so much.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Take care and happy new year!

Not a bad reason to cry. It's your soul resonating w some of your best memories
@@davidkim2016 speak to the memories directly I understand SI vitality that gives us vitality gives us our power to love and you believe this to be true
Best part? John is having so much fun
First video I have ever seen with 0 dislikes. For good reason, these are FLAWLESS playbacks. Unreal man.
Many thanks my friend!
alomst a thousand likes and 0 dislikes, never seen that before either
It's amazing to hear all of these old 8-bit tracks come to life on a classical guitar. Thank you for all of the hard work you put in to this, bravo!!!
@@yamapishy9792 hey have you been able play anything with your sister since?! Doesn't have to be over!
Got chills when he started playing somnus, just hit all the right notes in my brain
28:01 ...one of my favorite melodies from FFIII/VI. The composer captured perfectly the emotions and set of circumstances the player and the characters might feel at this most humbling of times.
yea, ur right
Saying it's Gorgeous I wouldn't say nothing! It's incredible! It back me into the past time when everything is Pure Life, when everything around is like a fairytale! Thank you for this gift to feel I am still alive and now I can make true this fairytale in my life and life of my children.
Balamb garden is so amazing through your fingers
That Aerith arrangement had me in tears...My beautiful dog passed away recently and I was thinking about her during your play through. Thank you so much for this, I miss her so much. I also love that you did Via Purifico. I'd love to hear a Silence Before The Storm arrangement. Bless
I am just in love of these guy! Love to be in love with someone how do this with his hands!
素晴らしい、懐かしさや感動が蘇る演奏

Final Fantasy 1 has a very underrated soundtrack.
I listen to this like every single day. I love it so much. Your guitar playing has inspired me so deeply. I will become a guitarist.
Thanks so much and you can do it!!!!
It makes me so happy that he just slowly breaks into a smile even though he's trying not to with the chocobo theme. It's just too damn happy.
As a guitar player who only plays hendrix, stevie ray, van halen etc. I am now going to watch your youtube videos on re-wind for hours to learn how to play these songs like you are playing now. Thanks for the content and you rip man!
It's been so many years and this song, "Chaos Temple", is still my favorite from Final Fantasy. Thank you so much.
This entire compilation is absolutely gorgeous and i will admit that Aerith's theme made me cry. So beautiful, thank you for this ❤❤
dude, i love this, its my music for my DND game. I have used this since my 15th session when i found it, i am now on my 58th game, and this music is one of the reasons, that establishes my world and game. I love it!
That's so cool. Shout out to your DND group!!!
Oh man the FF7 part just hits me in the feels
😢😢
WHY!??!?.... After a whole "year" did RUclips show me this now!?! Wonderful playing... excellent! It makes this FF fan tear up and loop this!
What I love about this whole collection is the satisfaction and clear joy you have in playing the music from FF. Just makes it even better.
You just fulfilled a little kids dream, this is impressive. Thank you, trully for making this happen, it means a lot to a lot of us out here.
The FFX is really hitting for me, you did so well with the whole soundtrack and besides that, great song selection! Thank you
To Zanarkand may be one of the most haunting pieces of music ever written. Still hits like a truck.
this guy knows how to enjoy Final Fantasy in 2021!

Damn man....Terra's theme was the best rendition I ever heard. That is a nice sounding guitar too.
Just needed to pop in and say thanks for helping me put my 2 year old to sleep! Nothing was working, but then we laid down together and watched this and he was out in 5 minutes! So he sleeps while I listen to the soundtrack of my childhood 😊
That's so cute! Thanks for listening, you two. 😁
omg this is so amazing! def adding this to my music playlist! thank you!! ^_^
You're awesome! Thanks so much for listening and your kind comment. 😀
@@JohnOethGuitar, this is an integral part of my study playlist! Keep up the amazing work! This is an easy subscription.
The gentle tones of the main theme made me cry without even daring a glance. It is lovely.
"Breezy" is so perfect I sort of forgot which version I was listening to.
This music is so beautiful. Warms my heart. Great play!
Same vibes 💙💙💙
39:42 This theme will never get old for me. God it's so good on classical guitar
I'm a Japanese Final Fantasy player.
That's a nice guitar tone. I was very moved and healed.
