Howdy Folks! If you would like some Custom made jigs From Perry, you can contact him from his email: perrypippenger@gmail.com. Thank you everyone for watching!
was just about to comment asking how to contact him. thanks for posting his info, & thanks for this video! ive learned a bit from you. i do a lot of crappie fishing down here in oklahoma. so much fun
The ACC crappie rod you’re using was designed and built in my hometown of Mt. Vernon Illinois. The guy who makes them is a hell of a nice guy. ACC rods are the only crappie rods I use.
3:33 I'm 15 and I've been fishing with my grandfather my entire life, He's a River fisherman himself so he fishes with the seasons more so.. White bass, Striper, Crappie.. But Crappie fishing is his favorite and it's become mine too... Learning to shoot i can't coun't the amount of times i accidentally buried a jig up in my finger lol. I also do alot of smallmouth fishing.
I learned how to shoot docks while fishing at lake weiss in Alabama when I was a kid.saw a 5 pound crappie at jr,s marina and about flipped.never even heard of a 5 pound crappie, let alone seen one.ive caught one a little over 3,but 5 is a world record to anyone!!!
Another great video sir! Your video's are far better than the fishing shows they have on TV. Keep them coming - I'm addicted to your video's - can't wait for the next one.
My dad shoots docks he loves it at lake Sinclair and lake Oconee he has learned alot of pointers from u he watches u every afternoon u are awesome keep it up!!!
Richard, I am from Texas, however, I lived in Arab several years ago, ide make the trip just to hang out and catch some slabs on Guntersville lake. It’s good fur yah... lol
Tried holding my spinning between third and fourth fingers. Took a little while to get used to it but did have better control. Its those little things you pick up that make a difference. Thanks Richard!!
Another nice video. The "Elmo" looks a lot like a common tie known as Gray Ghost which never has been real productive for me. The "Twilight" seemed to be working very good for you though. I will have to try to tie up some of those and see how they work.
Hey Richard. Is the ACC rod like you are using no longer available? I have googled it, and at ACC they only offer 10 and 11 foot trolling rods. Other than the ACC, what brand and length would you recommend for shooting docks?
I'm not sure about that, it's been a while sense I've talked to them. i would recommend a 5 1/2 or 6ft rod, 1 piece. As far as brand i like ACC but any rod that fits the length/ and the fact that it's one piece will work just fine. Thank you for watching Richard!!
I know this video is somewhat old but I'm new on here . You tell us & show us how to hold the jig .How do you aim , how hard do you pull & where do I hold before my release ?
What an wunderfull way to fish. I starded flyfishing because learn to make little streamer and Nimfs for light bass fishing here in the Netherlands and catch and release we called it streetfishing but I want to make the link to flyfishing too and to fish lighter then that. And what you do is what I mean its almost like a game to feel them coming, they twist again the jig or line and wait for nibble and the bite. So light baits lines rod and reels is having great fun. Thum ups
Yes sir! Gonna have to share your water Elmo next week cause I'm coming after them oct 22-27th. What's the cold front coming in the 23rd gonna do to these slabs? Gonna hurt or help feeding? Was concerned when I seen the extended forecast
Gene you've done got me to where I go for nothing but a crappie anymore. Learned alot from your videos and I know I'm gonna learn a lot more. Thanks buddy 👍👍

Richard Gene is one of my favorite fishing role models, I went out today and used some of his techniques....boy let me tell you it was a great fishing day. I only went for a bit but caught 4 crappie overall 3 being 10"+ one of them about 12-13 inches and about 1.5lbs
Thanks for the video and the link. I’m definitely going to have some of them jigs. They look like good ones for tree tops during the winter. Thanks again for all the good footage.
Just a simple question, I noticed that when your fishing you like to reel in the line about 4 or 5 turns before you set the hook. Is this the reason I may be missing a lot of fish?
I like to come in contact with the fish and then set the hook. I would say you may be jerking a bit to quick, a crappie will hold on to a jig for an average of 8 seconds before they blow it out. i have tested this many times. So you have plenty of time to set the hook. You don't have to turn the reel 4 or 5 times, just as long as you are coming in contact with the fish before setting the hook is the main thing. Thank you for watching James!!
Want Crappie fishing at my Uncle's lake the other day that has multiple schools of Crappie in it. Was using a Crappie Magic jig head and 3 inch Yum grub, caught 0 Crappie, 14 Bass and 1 Bluegill.
Richard Gene The Fishing Machine I got the knot part down, and that the jig needs to be horizontal. I just don't know what I'm doing with it once it's in the water.

Interestingly enough I was fishing off a dock, I'm thinking I might have been throwing out a bit to far from it.
docks so high and wood pilings you could get close in and simply flip them in and do as well.
I just grab the popcorn I haven't even watched it yet. But I know it's good! 👍🏽
Thank you so much Chad!!
it would be awesome if you could spend some time showing us your jig technique.
will do Calvin!
Richard Gene The Fishing Machine
I got the knot part down, and that the jig needs to be horizontal. I just don't know what I'm doing with it once it's in the water.
11:40, line thump! Gotta luv it!
