    One of the reasons I love the Lake of the Ozarks so much is the crappie fishing. Just the sheer numbers and how easy they are to catch, and the size structure. It's not uncommon to get into some 11+ inch fish, and the fall is also my favorite time to go down there.

    The Timmy Horton of crappie fishing. And, what I mean by that, you (like Timmy Horton) teach people about (fishing) shooting docks for crappie (Timmy Horton...Bass), rather than just a video of watching you fish. Great videos, great instructions. Thx!!!

      Thank you! That is quite a complement. Timmy is one of my favorites. Thanks for watching.

    Nice video! Beautiful lake!!
    Question.... Doesn't anyone get up tight when you're hanging around their expensive boats and docks??
    Maybe folks in the Ozarks are more layed back than some around here.....
    Can't wait to come to the lake and catch me some slabs !
    Keep the videos coming. 😎

    love all of your videos. what video setup do you have on the back of your boat? I am also wondering if you are using the audio from the go pro and keeping rear camera on mute. I see so many videos with poor sound quality due to wind noise. I really like the fact that you give all that information at the beginning of your videos and give out lots of good info during the video as well. Keep up the great work!

    I went through all the comments but couldn't find the answer I'm looking for. I am looking at getting a new rod just for dock shooting but I don't know what weight of a rod I should get. Ultra lite, Med etc....

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  3 года назад

      I highly recommend the B & M Sharpshooter Six. It is a medium action one piece rod that is made for dock shooting.

    What details do you look for in a dock(depth, location, etc.)??? Or is it just based on prior knowledge and fishing them all?

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  8 лет назад +1

      A little of all of that. It changes from day to day as to whether they prefer docks in shallow water or over deep water. One thing is constant, look for the docks that provide the most shade and have the largest covered areas, like swim platforms.

    Does brush have to be present to hold fish? Do you guide?

    Mike, this dock looks familiar. It wouldn’t to happen to be on the 21mm would it?

    How do you know which dock to choose?

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  7 лет назад

      Trial and error mainly. When you find one holding fish, try to find others with similar conditions.

    Hi Mike - what size of line do you use when trolling for Crappie? And do you use monofilament?

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  5 лет назад +1

      8 lb mono if flatlining and 10 pound mono if using planer boards.

    Is there a reason You use such a long rod for dock shooting or is just your preference? it seems like 4.5-5ft is the standard

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  8 лет назад +1

      TomTCincyO I just like the action of the rod. I used to use a shorter rod but I feel like the longer rod throws the jig further and I am more accurate with it. Some like an even longer rod than the 6 footer.

    • @h0MbrE02
      @h0MbrE02 8 лет назад +2

      I use a 6'-9" St Croix Panfish series rod it's great for casting, vertical jigging as well as dock shooting.

    • @trashtrout
      @trashtrout 5 лет назад

      @@h0MbrE02 I shoot with a 7 foot....I agree the longer the rod the longer the shot...I sit in seat when shooting and stay back from dock about 15 feet for better angle

    hay Mike, you sure make this look easy. heading down their at the end of sept. with the wife just to catch crappie. Any advice for sept. fishing and were to put in at? I have never fished the Ozarks mainly the Mississippi iowa pool 13 ,14. Also was thanking about going with a outfitter for my first day since the lake is so big and don't want to spend all day looking for the hot spots, would you know of any recommended outfitters?

    • @MikeBakerVideos
      @MikeBakerVideos  7 лет назад

      Not sure about guides. As far as fishing and where to put in I need to what part of the lake are you going to? It is a big lake.

    • @rudydog420
      @rudydog420 7 лет назад

      I thank putting in around Davey hollowcove? Outfitters are way to much$. So we will just be winging it. Have the crappie started moving into the shallows yet? what part of the lake do you have the best luck?
