Nick and Simon worked together for years as waiters before Simon's career took off so as soon he could he helped his friend get his start in acting so much of their comedy is built on their long close friendship and this shines through in everything they do.

You should check out Nick's biography "Truths, Half Truths and Little White Lies", it's a great read. Btw, Simon was the waiter, Nick was a chef, and yes just as you would expect they would fuck with people's food if they were rude. I've always said be polite to the people who handle your food :D

One of the best things about Edgar wright films are the amount of brilliant callbacks and jokes that resurface. Watched this film about 100 times (it’s shown basically every Saturday in UK on ITV2), and watching this reaction I’ve noticed the exacerbated gag (Shaun asks what it means and then uses it later on, then Ed asks what it means further down the line) and the line at the start where Pete says Ed should live in the shed becuase he’s an animal (foreshadowing the end). Also where one of the supermarket zombies is Neal from the electronic store earlier in the movie. Such genius writing!

One of the things I love most about this channel - and believe me, this is NOT a criticism - is Spencer’s ability to absolutely miss every point in the stuff you watch! I’m guessing this isn’t deliberate - but my god, it makes these reactions hilarious! Never change, Spencer!

To answer this seriously, I was brought up thinking that word was the worst, total end of the line, never to be used. Then I got a job as a litigator at a firm of solicitors. To say it was used every second word would be an understatement. By every one - young, old, male, female, disabled, black, white, religious, not religious.... It was a word that depending on its deployment, COULD be nasty, aggressive - but usually was friendly, loving. Trying to "unlearn" the use of the word when I left was very hard - even now 20 years later it's still in my "auto say" mind-set and I have to block it in certain company!

I think it's also very much a regional thing, thinking of somewhere like Glasgow for example where it's widely used as a greeting but it's still always depends on the context as to how offensive it is@@damightyshabba439

@damightyshabba439 Language is so flexible. I love to flex language. Flexing turns nouns into verbs. And verbs flex into adjectives. Those adjectives are so flexy. Which doesn't even flexabulate us back to the beginning.

It doesn't work so well these days, but the "meeting the other crew" gag, was that everyone in the other group was a slightly more famous and accomplished actors than in Shaun's group (and handling the situation in a better way), with multiple people appearing the in same shows and/or playing the same types of character. This was before Frost and Pegg made it big, and whenLittle Britain, Black Books, Office (UK) were some of the hottest shows on UK TV.

A rare easter egg is when Shaun is on the phone with his mother and he is going to go to her house, Ed yells, "We're coming to get you, Barbara" In the original movie, Night of the Living Dead, Johnny and Barbara are in a the car together going to visit their mother in a remote cemetery. He constantly teases Barbara with the line, "They're coming to get you Barbara".

The thing I like the most about this movie is the more subtle bits with the juxtoposition of the daily grind of city life against the cliche zombie horror flick and how nearly indistinguishable they are. Anyone who has had to travel on the London Underground every day will know that it's hardly a metaphor, people really do just look and behave like zombies. That kind of social commentary is present in lots of zombie films, Jacob's Ladder being a great example, but Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg do a great job here of turning it into observational comedy.
The irish guy, Dylan Moran starred and co-wrote Black Books with Graham Linehan- a really funny sitcom. It also stars Tamsin Greig who is one of the other people in that line of doppelgangers led by Jessica Hynes, who starred and co-wrote spaced with Simon Pegg, another great sitcom directed by Edgar Wright. It's like 2 degrees of seperation when it comes to UK comedy.

Bill Nighy who plays the Step-dad is a great actor. There is one film in particular that is a very good comedy. He plays a hitman and it is called Wild Target.
He was also in one episode of a comedy series called People Like Us. The episode was called The Photographer. The sries was a mockumentary where a man called Roy Mallard follows people around in their jobs.
There is a film that is one of Simon Pegg's lesser known ones, which he did with David Schwimmer, called Big Nothing, which is also excellent comedy - one of the best I've seen.

The "bizarro" team are all connected to the others. "Yvonne" Shaun's female opposite starred alongside Shaun and Ed's actors in "Spaced", a sitcom directed by the director of this movie.
Martin Freeman, you know, Reece Shearsmith who plays David's opposite is one of the creative minds behinds BBC comedy...thing? The League Of Gentlemen. Tamsin Greg who plays the bizarro version of Dianne co-starred with David's actor, Dylan Moran, in Black Books, Yvonne's mum is Julia Deakin, also a main cast member in Spaced, and Ed's opposite number is Matt Lucas, who also starred in tons of british comedy, most famously Little Britain.
They're all modestly well known in British comedy, or would be after this.

Claim to fame - I know 2 of the zombies, they are twin brothers Kevin and Nicky Wilson, and I went to school with their older brother. Great film to react to guys, I love the fact that they were killing zombies to Queen, that is sooo British! 😊

You may not have appreciated that Nick was eating a Cornetto Ice Cream (actually a Strawberry flavour), while they sat on the couch. The name of the 'Cornetto Trilogy' comes from a very specific 'Easter egg' in each movie: a Cornetto ice cream, with each movie featuring a different flavour. In 'Shaun of the Dead', the colours represent blood and zombies; 'Hot Fuzz' features Danny and Nicholas eating a Classico Cornetto, with its blue colour representing the police; and 'The World’s End' has its Cornetto moment at the end, when a Mint Cornetto wrapper flies by in front of Andy, and this flavour’s green color represents sci-fi and aliens...

Back in the day we used to live in a shared house in the black area of the local town, and right where the "frontline" was where drugs was sold was a little asian shop. We used to know the shop keeper and he'd tell us which booze was the best, we bought Polish pure spirit cos of him once lol. that bit in Shaun where the shop keeper asks him about beer always reminds me of those times, so accurate.

The shop Sean goes into has been a regular stop for me when driving home (that way) and I need some emergency groceries like milk or bread, because it's easy to park for a couple of minutes outside... Only 5 minutes from where I live in North London.

I always find it hard to pin down why british comedy is different and end up saying that it looks really low brow and simple but the fundamentals of comedy are always well done

It always bothered me that they didn’t decide to make Molotov fire bombs they are in a pub they have sprites in a pub you know the flammable liquids all pubs serve I mean when they left they should have made some to torch the place then escaped through seller the second they started to swarm the pub.

Definitely the best performer I have seen in years, he can sing anything and is really a role model for younger singers. Also through him and starting to research you tube, starting to find other good artists. Can't find another Dan, but found good vocalists like Noapology (female, very good, maybe 1 your wife might accept) and Daniela Andrade, Daisy Gray, Bad Wolves. He is starting to broaden my music interests, especially into online singers, which has good singers that is not so well known as your mainline singers. I hope that 1 day there would be a reaction channel that can showcase these singers. But please keep your Dan Tuesdays
